  1. Thank you. It would be cool to see a Bubble Bobble like game for the 2600, as this classic is one that I still enjoy. Illya
  2. And now what you've all been waiting for *drum roll*.... Bubble Bobble Arcade Sprites!...YAY! All done up as DPC+ sprites, but the SPR files are not flipped for DPC+... What? I can't do everything ya know. Besides if you use Visual Batari Basic like I do, flipping them over is a snap. The picture is a side-by-side comparison of the Original Sprite(On the Left) and the one for Atari(On the Right) - That's 85 sprites BTW : Bubble Bobble Item Sprites.zip The Character and Enemy sprites are coming soon... Illya
  3. I have made some Mario sprites, and there is a link to some progress that has been made here. Illya
  4. "That is not dead which can eternal lie, And with strange aeons even death may die." - Necronomicon Cthulhu_DPC+.zip Illya
  5. In other words, I cheated... again. But now that I look again at the picture, I can see green grass with a dark blue sky background, a gray Castle with Red and Green flags at the top, a Blue tapestry resting against the outer wall, and a Yellow gate at the entrance. Illya
  6. I stumbled across this technique while trying to make a Simon Says like game, but I'm sad to say that it has fallen by the wayside. One difference is that I'm not using no_blank_lines. simon_8.bas
  7. Yes it has been far too long since I've posted anything here, so I fix now. Minotaur DPC+ Sprite.zip If you take a look at the numbers at the top of the picture, you'll notice they go from 0-7 and then from 0-7 again. That's because for the Minotaur, I wanted the axe to have a metallic color, and the lower part of his clothing to have a reddish color. To work this magic I drew the Minotaur in VbB as one whole 16 pixel wide sprite, keeping in mind that it's split down the middle, and trying as much as possible to keep certain elements( Axe head, and Lower part of clothing ) in either the Left or Right sprites. Then I: Selected the entire 8 pixel wide Right side of the Minotaur and Cut it. Re-sized the working sprite to 8 pixels wide and Save as the Left side. Pasted the Right side on top of the still open left side sprite and Save as the Right side. Now both halves of the Minotaur can be opened in VbB and alterations of the colors can begin. Also, it helps if a complete picture of the sprite is opened in your favorite editor/viewer as a visual aid. Illya
  8. This is what I get from running it in my work computer(when I should be working) : Stella 3.3 doesn't run ARM assembly code, so that's why the app isn't crashing. There's a pre-release of Stella (mentioned above) that you need for ARM support. Or you can wait another 2 weeks, when I release Stella 3.4. 2 WEEKS!?!? Oh alright.. I guess I can handle that. Illya
  9. This is what I get from running it in my work computer(when I should be working) :
  10. Where's the one about reading RT's entire page at LEAST 3 times before posting ANYTHING? heh Illya
  11. You've gotten the basics down pat I'd say. What's your next step? Illya
  12. In the latest version, if you push up to break, you die. Kinda funny. I've also noticed that the slalom like things, and the can? that bounces back and forth sometimes appear inside the walls.
  13. Giant_FlatWorm DPC+.zip Eat your heart out George Lucas! ...... Ya know... the Giant Space Worm???
  14. Cyclops_DPC+.zip Real life stuff and other projects have kept me pretty busy as of late.. But I've discovered that: Trying to find the time for something is all well and good, but in the long run, it's better to just make the time for it instead. Illya
  15. part 2... "A noise!", the magician ponders to himself, "A spy perhaps?" The demon shrieks out in anger at the magician for stopping, "Finish it! Finish the ritual! Without me you wont have what you desire!" With haste, and a subtle sarcastic tone the magician replies, "This much I know great and all powerful Jada'Kutu(YAH-DAH KOO-TOO), but we may have a problem... that I will attend to immediately." Clapping his crooked and clawed hands together twice, the magician summons a familiar. An Ugly Putto(POO-TOE) magically droops into existence. The one and a half foot tall sickly colored Imp lets out a birthing cry, glares around at it's new surroundings and flutters it wings. It flies up from the ground and in a creaky voice it asks, "What do you ask of me master?" The magician points in the direction of the noise, "That ridge over there... see what is there and return to me with what you have found." The Ugly Putto sets off sullenly upon its masters task, as if it were smoke from a fire wafting in the wind. The fear is growing within you - It has numbed your legs and dulled your reasoning. You whisper to yourself, "Think quickly! There must be a way to escape! If I run for the woods then maybe I can make my way to the road, but I can't stop the magician by running away! I have to warn the Elders - They'll know what to do." You regain your courage as you take a deep breath. You quietly pick up your staff and turn to check on the magician only to have your gaze met squarely by the Ugly Putto - It hisses at you, baring it's teeth and claws. Startled, you lash out and strike it in the head with your staff. It screams in pain before becoming unconscious and falling unimpeded to the ground. "YOU THERE...BOY!", the magician yells out and begins to saunter towards you, "You think you've found something interesting you can tell your friends about, maybe your wife and children, but the only thing you've found here... is your death!" The magicians' hands begin to glow a ghostly green. As he throws his hands high above his head a deafening screech pierces the silver night sky. You look up to see a giant snowy owl shadow the moon and release a large boulder directly above the Mirror. The magician looks up in despair and cries out, "WHAT!?! NOOOOO!" The boulder hits its target with unyielding might. The Dark Mirror explodes with magical energy, propelling its shards high into the air and sending them far and wide. "Fancy meeting you here! Need a lift do you?", says the owl in a jeering manner as it lands near you. You quickly climb onto the owls back as it readies itself to take flight. Puzzled you ask the owl, "How did you find me?" The owl turns it's head completely around to look at you, "The gift the Elders gave you... the amulet around your neck, it connects us. But our time here is short - we must make haste before the magician regains his composure!" The owl takes flight. Gripping its feathers you cling tightly to its back as it flies up and over the tree tops of the woodland to safety. Navigating it's way over the hills and plains, the owl sets its sights for the Valley of Elders... the place where your heart calls home. However, as this adventure comes to an end, a new one is just beginning...
  16. Ah yes... Ye Olde Dungeon crawl. Similar to Moraff's Revenge, and many AD&D games like Pool of Radiance for the PC, and even more closely related to for the TurboGrafx-16.
  17. I think you may have successfully stumped everyone with this. Not being familiar with the toy at all, I searched around a bit, but couldn't find any pics showing the screen, or even a video... no surprise there. As you probably already know, A 3D maze game is possible as seen with or by Eric Ball. A game that looked like that Spyro one who be nice to see.
  18. Hey, I was hoping you'd pop in. Rest assured I was about to PM you soon if you didn't. I always received high marks on my creative writings in school. Ya know, I was going to do just the one story/summary to set the atmosphere as if it were the start of a game... but, what the hay! I can do a few more... with sprites of course. illya
  19. She feels the same - she'd slipped and hurt her shoulder and is back in the States to see a specialist. That is terrible news to say the least. My mom had slipped and broken her hand last year. Fragile creatures our moms. A quote comes to my mind - "Our greatest glory is not in never falling, but in getting up every time we do" - Confucius Take care, illya
  20. I'd mentioned to batari in the "Chun-Li" forum that some of the C routines might be handy for bB and that I'd put them in a demo to make it easier to see what's going on. Most likely by the end of this month. My mom's coming for an unexpected visit, so this will now most likely be done sometime in April. Ah unexpected visits.. my favorite kind. Thanks for the update. Have a good one, Illya
  21. Taking refuge on a rocky embankment, you peer cautiously towards a strange light in the distance. You've found him! You've found the evil magician who has ravaged the lands with his demon minions and unspeakable creatures. His evil power has set plagues of monsters upon the peaceful people, and many towns and villages have been destroyed in their wake. You whisper to yourself, "But no more..." Under a wicked Moon, the magician has placed the Dark Mirror on the ground before him. Blood red candles adorn the edges of the mirror - They create a thick, foul stench that seems to linger heavily in the air. All too quickly, the woods around you grow eerily quiet as if the magicians will is bending the very fabric of reality... He begins to raise is arms. Energy leaps from the mad magicians' finger tips as he mutters a few arcane words. Slowly within the mirrors' abyss, a face becomes frighteningly clear. An ancient demon manifests in the mirror - A chaotic behemoth long banished from the world of men gazes from the mirror, it's eyes filled with bloodlust and hate. Gesturing his hands and flailing his arms about in the night air, the magicians' intangible words reach a crescendo. A maniacal smile tears across the demons face as it readies itself to feast on the destruction of all mankind. You say under your breath, "This must end.. I have to stop him, but how?" In your moment of uneasiness you shift your weight - some stones give way under your feet. You quickly duck out of sight, but fear it is too late. The magician becomes silent and turns to face your direction. Your heart begins to race as your mind is set ablaze with thoughts of what he might do to you if he catches you. ...What will you do now? This story and the sprites are inspired by the game Evil Magician Returns created by Byte Knight. Therefore I, as usual, claim no copyrights to the material here in. Cheeky smiley face.. not optional. Illya
  22. Sorry I'm a day late, but it was a longer day than usual yesterday. I noticed that the walk cycle for the small Mario uses the Still frame plus two other Mario walking frames. I'm not sure if you had intended the Still frame to be in there, but it kinda sticks out like a sore thumb, or should I say, chin. In the Still frame Mario's chin is not as long, but in the other two frames, his chin is longer. That's my only point of contention. Good work. Illya
  23. The New Color Upgrade with the Old BG Color.. that's the ticket. I think the colors are playing well with each other in this one.
  24. Dude! This is good stuff. I know I'd be lost trying to program code to do what you've done. I only had a quick play of it as I'm at work, so not much time to check out Mario's sprite action. After work today I'll have more time. Illya PS - Keep up the good work!
  25. Hey, Thank you. I love the layout and the colours you chose for it. It looks really nice. Illya
