ATARI Three Ring Binders - Wanted
gharmon replied to gharmon's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Best Electronics / San Jose CA has both kinds of binders. "Yes Gary, have both 3 ring Deluxe Silver "Atari Home Computer" Binders (U$D 2.50 each, or case of 14, U$D2.25 each) or the Atari "Field Service Binder" (U$D 3.50 each or case 20 U$D 2.50 each) plus shipping. Regards, Bradley Koda" I just ordered six of the silver binders plus a MegaSte keyboard cable plus some screw sets for spare. Bradley seems like a nice person with which to deal. -
ATARI Three Ring Binders - Wanted
gharmon replied to gharmon's topic in Atari ST/TT/Falcon Computers
Thanks for the reply on the binders overseas. I emailed the seller for availability. I also sent an inquiry to Best. The two binders I have are dated 1983 and have a part number of BX4201. They are a normal type binder with a gray background, half inch horizontal lines all around and ATARI in black to green vertical letters. Home Computers is printed under the I in ATARI. I've had two since I bought them in 1983. One is hiding but it will be found. -
Does anyone have any ATARI three ring binders to sell or trade? Vr, Gary in San Antonio TX

Before I get too crazy and start throwing hard drives, is there something I am missing as to why this MEGA STe has decided not to boot from the hard drive? The guy I got it from Sunday said it had been working as he played one of his favorite games but then it quit booting. I have the MEGA STe book and the rest of the computer seems to me fine. I reset the four memory sticks but no change. The drive is spinning but not communicating. Thanks, gary

I have a nice XF551 enclosure but the disk drive is missing. I do have a box of drives that came with the enclosure but none fit in the box or matches what descriptions say should be in place. Does anyone have a working drive unit to sell or trade? Thanks.

Do you have an extra Stacy laptop? LOL
-
Yes, all three are the board with the large battery.

Found three ST host adapters in the boxes. Made by ICD, Inc. One says "ST HD Adapter BD" and the other says "ADVANTAGE-PLUS ST". What do these accomplish?

Mega ST with three hard drives, color monitor, 4 MB RAM, mouse, keyboard Thee Atari color monitors One monochrome monitor Box of cables, power supplies Box of manuals Box of software Cute after market stand that holds a 520ST, monitor, power supply and external floppy Etc Pictures will follow. Life in south Texas is good.

The monitor is a Gold Star CA-3. Looking for a schematic/troubleshooting tips/etc. Thanks in advance.

I bought a 1040ST system yesterday and I knew the monitor had an issue. I have an extra monitor anyway so if I can get this one fixed, I'll still have a spare. It's got a flat line indicating a vertical problem. I have printed out the schematic and troubleshooting charts but I wanted to see if anyone has info on specific parts to look into before I get knee deep in troubleshooting. Thanks in advance. Gary

I have two SF 314 disk drives here and a major difference begs a question. One has a male 5-pin power socket and a power supply providing +5 and +12 V DC. The other one has a female 7-pin power socket and a power supply providing +5 V DC. Make sense? Thanks in advance.

Since I'm geeting the message "NOT STE", does that mean this hard drive wants to see a STE box instead of the 1040ST? Perhaps some of the jumpers in the hard drive can be changed to work with the 1040ST??

Did all the 2600s come with Styrofoam inserts or did some have bubble wrap. Anyone know???
-
OK....I got the 19 pin cable and book disk. The hard drive spins up and the yellow light talks to me but the screen tells me 'ERROR - Machine not STE". It's actually a 1040STFM. There are other notices that flash by during the boot up. Is it telling me the hard drive won;t with this computer? Thanks, gary

I took possession of a SH205 Megafile 20 today. I have a 1040STF computer. Are there any experienced SH205 users listening? Will this 1040 talk to this drive? I do need to get a connecting cable and hopefully it is straight pin to pin connections. I'd also like to find any documentation on the drive as there are DIP switches in the unit. Also, this is one BIG drive assembly. Any help, suggestions, recommendations are appreciated. Thanks, gary

I picked up a PERCOM dual disk drive set this week and I found two disks in the software repository identified for the PERCOM. Does someone with PERCOM experience know what kind and how many disks are necessary to use the PERCOM drives? Are there any weird issues to watch?

Part of the haul was a XF551 enclosure plus about six disk drive mechanisms. Is there a way to determine which drive belongs in the box?? Vr, gary

Thanks to a fellow HAM operator from North Texas who took it to Dallas so another friend could haul it to Austin for me to pick up......original 800, 800XL, 800XL with 256KB upgrade, two 850s, a new 850 motherboard, four 1050 drives + some extra mechanisms, a PERCOM drive enclosure with two drives + 2 extra drives, XF551 disk drive enclosure, SX212 modem, small Citizen printer with small paper, some manuals, many joysticks, a ton of power supplies and cables, and 100+ 5 1/4 floppy drives from a club. Items were not stored properly so a lot of clean up will be necessary but fortunately the disks were protected. Cost was zero except for the gas to and back fro Austin. Pictures to follow along with updated information as I go through the stuff. Life is good.

Would like to know if there is any interest in purchasing one of the portable Atari 2600 Units that Ben Heckendorn produced. Attached are some photos. Make an offer if you are interested. The case and cartridges will be included. Thanks --

Er, do you mean software? If so, it should - its just another hard drive as far as the ST is concerned. I've put all my normal hard drive installable software on one card and I've got another card that puts up with the least options - it holds all the Dbug and other "modified" games that now run from hard drive. All the ones I have work great. I also have a 512meg card that I use for transfer duty between my STacy and a PC. Do you know the maximum sized of SD card that can be used?

Any known problems with the Ultra Satan? Will it pretty much run anything?

Someone gave up this drive, probably because the stepper motor was frozen. Two of the chips (U9 and U10) are gone, plus the upper and lower shield. Also, the stepper motor of course. Does anyone have some parts to sell or trade? I would like to see if I can return this puppy to service.

We recently were able to secure an Atari 130XE with 2 Atari 1050 Drivers and an Indus GT. We would like your opinions and advice on what modifications we should make. Our dream scenario would be to have a hard drive hooked to the unit where we could copy game images, etc. to. So -- would an add-on like the MYIDE Cart be something we should invest in? I've also seen comments about an SIO2PC. Has anyone purchased the Happy 1050 Modification? Worth it? Sorry for so many questions. We are just getting back into the Atari scene and would like some expert opinions. Thank You.
