Yeah, I've heard that a couple of places, but have yet to find confirmation. The UGE website isn't saying that (nor will it, probably) and I can't locate any other PR that says it's a cooked goose. Anyone have a link to a announcement somewhere? Anywhere?

I can't resist a good "Stripes" set-up....

Rule 6. There is NOOOOOOOOOOOO.......rule 6. Sorry, I cannot willingly pass up a MP thread.

If you think *this* is serious, my father is a Civil War recreationist complete with authentic uniform and equipment - period correct and everything - and I have several friends in the Society for Creative Anachronism. THAT, my friend, is taking a hobby too seriously.

I hope they use lots of X's and Z's in their promotional campaign. IT's DOPE! They can name it: X-TREME GAMERZ X-PO!!! MAZZIVE X-TREME X-CITEMENT! And please use "shiznit" a lot too. I know the fan base that made PC what it is LOVES that kind of approach. Werd.

Take a look at the name of the most recent member to AA. Looks like the PC website's 1337 ha><or decided to see what all the fuss was about. Or the PC organizers are curious as to what the hell they've done.

Agreed. And it's something that has been harped on and harped on and harped on. And, whenever we clean house, 30 more users join up with poster-sized sigs with neon flashing animations. *Sigh*

I posted a question to the PhillyClassic Yahoo Group messaage board asking, very simply, "Were you hacked or is this a publicity stunt? People want to know and a reply posted puiblically would be appreciated." If this question isn't approved by the moderators for posting, I'll have my answer. I can't imagine why the organizers wouldn't confirm one way or another. I know if the AGE or CGE sites were hacked, the Als/Joe and the gang would be up in arms, scrambling around doing damage control, and allaying the fears of those who normally attend. But, if there's no reply and the organizers let the site stand as shown, you pretty much have your answer again. Me? I think this whole thing is fishy.

From a message posted to DP: And, if I may add something. This incorrect date of February 2003 was corrected to read "February 2004." Now, what hacker is going to correct the date of a show if he wasn't involved in it? It's a ploy. It's a gimmick. If they want to expand and bring in more modern gamers, great. But this Yo Yo Yo Yo leet haxor BS is really off-putting and insulting to our intelligence.

Uh, I don't think using "guilt" is gonna increase the entries any. If that many folks sense something amiss, then I gotta be a lemming here.
-
Rumor has it that they're going for a more modern-based audience and less emphasis on classic stuff. And they'll be calling it Game Jam. And, if true, I'll be saving my money.

Ah. What I THOUGHT was a beer bottle was the microphone behind John's clentched fist. I am relieved to see beer within easy reach of John in the larger photo. I never would've puzzled out what Sean was holding without seeing the bigger photo though!

For the first time in quite a while, I'm with MacGurl. *Is* that a Christmas tree being auctioned? My grandmother had one of those ceramic deals with the little glued-in plastic bulbs that would light up. And it looked Just. Like. THAT. Oh, and it looks like John's got the mike in one hand and a beer bottle in the other in the picture. His record's safe.

Entity for Atari 2600......New Game Being Released
Snider-man replied to Antneed's topic in Atari 2600
Well, this *is* the same game company that brought us "Porkys" and "Revenge of the Beefsteak Tomatos" based on "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." Neither of these are exactly high-falutin' pieces of art. (And Porkys was - in some ways - worse than The Entity - but not by much....) -
Entity for Atari 2600......New Game Being Released
Snider-man replied to Antneed's topic in Atari 2600
Now, would you use the LEFT joystick? I thought you'd use the RIGHT one! -
I'm a 2600 hound, so this'll sound like blasphemy. I prefer the Atari Jr. Model. Yes, yes, I know the arguements. But I've never had a cart label get scuffed, snagged, or torn in my Jr. like they sometimes did in my Vader. I don't particularly care for the "chunkiness" of my Heavy Sixer. And sometimes, a game won't even work on one of the older systems. (Marble Craze being a recent example of flakiness on certain original systems.) I've never had a problem with my Jr. It's small enough to tuck between several other systems in my entertainment center without taking up too much room. And when I go to cons and meetings, it's a helluva lot easier to pack up and go. I love the Woodies for the nostalgic look to them, but the Jrs. are just a simple, easy-to-set-up and play workhorse.

After that movie the license probably isn't worth the legal paper it's printed on. That thing was a God awful abomination! Tempest Testify Brother Matt! I so desperately, desperately, desperately wanted to like it. Directed by Burton, for Cripe's Sake! But it was just....ugh. I would rather watch Conquest fo the Planet of the Apes 100 times before seeing this again.
-
Guess why Revenge of the Apes disappeared from the store! And even though Fox is not mentioned anywhere! So I wish you a lot of luck and that no idiotic asshole is after you (or your project). All idiot asshole stuff aside, Fox was probably a little more willing to listen to the "asshole" about "Apes" because the "Apes" license is still very much viable. They just released a remake a year or two back. Action figs, Playstation games, DVDs, etc. That's probably why they persued it so aggressively. (Although that doesn't explain wha' happened to Alligator People - a film I haven't seen on the late show since the late 70s....)
-
Agreed, but it's far easier to find 100+ Combats/Pac-Man than it is to find 100+ Donkey Kong/Zaxxons. We'll see. After all, Chris came up with 50+ Parker Brothers carts for the New England meet!
-
And with nifty keen-o Coleco-reminsent manuals! How about also in them not-quite-as-nifty-yet-somehow-keeno Coleco-reminiscent cartridge cases? Or are they just going for two out of three in terms of replication? You know, I never thought about that myself. I have no idea, but it *would* be cool if they were in the white plastic Coleco case with the black label. But finding a bunch of those carts would be a pain, and you'd probably also have to custom make a circuit board to fit too. We'll see when it debuts.
-
I shall summarize to the best of what I know: 1. Looping will debut at CGE for sale in nifty keen-o Coleco-reminsent boxes and everything. Unsure as to price. 2. Looping will then be immediately available after the show for sale at an on-line store for everyone who didn't make it to Vegas. 3. There is no ROM to try out at this time.

Atari 5200 KLAX Screenshots and Game Details
Snider-man replied to Atari2600.com's topic in Atari 5200
And 2600 Pac-Man's not Pac-Man. And 2600 Zaxxon's not Zaxxon. And blah-der-blah's not blah-der-blah. Is anyone else getting a vibe reminiscent of the Colecovision 14-in-1 Pak fiasco here? Can we drop this before a homebrewer's feelings get hurt....AGAIN? -
No I heard about it yesterday when it was announced on the digitpress forums. Do you guys not go there as well? Apparently they don't even visit this very website too thoroughly as it was posted to AA just yesterday too. Yes, it's legit. Begin drooling. And, yes, it'll be available some point after the show.

Oddest non-game thing you have sold on Ebay (and will admit)
Snider-man replied to Cassidy Nolen's topic in Auction Central
I'm allllllways selling odd/bizarre stuff on eBay. Some of my more unusual items: 1. a program from the world premiere of "Gilligan's Island: The Musical," Flat Rock, NC, 1992 2. a screener copy of the last episode of Babylon 5 sent to me by....whatever production company used to film it. What made it valuable is that I had it in my hands 1 month before the show was to air. That beast netted me hundreds from the B5 fans who just HAD to be the first to see it. 3. original artwork from The Amazing Spider-Man signed by Mark Bagley - the guy who now does Ultimate Spider-Man. (The look of the MTV series and blockbuster movie is loosely based on his style) 4. a six-pack of MASH beer 5. a six-pack of Billy beer
