Or in the vernacular of those of us too lazy to type the whole thing out: Happy Al-bertday!

  2. Mike Nesmith of the Monkees died today. He was 78.

I've been a fan of the Monkees (and particularly Nez) for over 40 years. He looked especially frail during the tour he and Micky just concluded, but of course you always hope that such things are momentary.

I'd highly recommend checking out Nez's solo work. Tropical Campfires, The Newer Stuff, Magnetic South, and if you're looking for something a bit different, try The Prison (which is a masterpiece) or Rays. Micky just released an amazing album of covers of Nez's work titled Dolenz Sings Nesmith. Well worth checking out.

      Rest in Peace Nez.

  3. FedEx delivered my wife's Christmas present to the wrong place.  Tracking says "Left at leasing office".  We live in a house.

But they did deliver it. So... job done! Merry Christmas!

  5. Got another cocktail called "Kermit the Frog Piss".

    1 oz Midori® melon liqueur
    1/2 oz Malibu® coconut rum
2 oz sweet and sour mix
    Top with 7-Up® soda

I suppose they could've just Knick Knack'd her instead: https://www.movie-censorship.com/report.php?ID=1883

That would probably look insanely weird though.

I'm not sure. Rick Derringer seemed pretty specific.

  8. So you bought some new homebrews, eh? Love them? Like them? Dislike them? Be sure to leave your game reviews in the AtariAge store - we really appreciate it when you do!

I'm so far behind in my reviews, by the time I catch back up there might actually be another AtariAge Holiday Cart.

  10. Currently in a Zoom meeting, where we're having a meeting about how to have meetings, and they literally just said not to have a meeting about other meetings. I think I'm actually wasting time faster than time is passing, but I'm not good enough at mathematics to figure out how to graph it.

@frankodragon Sadly, no. That would've been productive, and caused a rip in the space-time continuum.

  11. It's amazing how no one watches movies at the theater anymore. I went to see a movie last night and the theater was empty.

    1. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

I grew tired of movie theaters some years back, after seeing one-too-many films that were projected badly in a crappy theater. After that, I'd only go to really well run/maintained theaters (ArcLight, Dolby Cinema), and then only rarely (usually for big-screen blockbusters). There aren't any good theaters nearby, and they charge more, so it just became too much of a hassle even before the pandemic.

  14. The PlayStation 2 is a glorified Atari falcon, prove me wrong.

Okay: the PlayStation 2 sold 155 million units. Or is that what you meant by "glorified"?

  15. Art of Rally is a masterpiece. I've conquered every rally event from 1967 (Group 2) to 1996 (Group A) and found every free roam collectible. It's one of those games that you can play for hours upon hours, exploring every bit of road. What it taking place in a parallel universe where group b was never cancelled and group s wasn't binned, it features tons of group s prototypes that I've never seen featured in a video game before.

The game is incredibly aesthetically pleasing, and I love the artstyle. Don't let it make you think this is a childish, easy game though. It took me hours to master driving the Lancia 037.

That does look fun. I love how they have the crowds represented as matchsticks - even running out into the roads (I could never comprehend that). WRC 10 is looking very promising too.

  16. Intellivision stole the Intellivision font from The Mary Tyler Moore Show opening.

      Nathan Strum

The font used for the MTM opening is (in all likelihood) Peignot Bold: https://www.myfonts.com/fonts/linotype/peignot/bold/

The Intellivision logo isn't the exact same font, but was likely based on it. There's a font called SF Intellivised which is a fan-made version: https://www.dafont.com/intellivision.font

  17. Part of me wants to kill the creator of Marble Craze because I feel they are trying to kill me with insane difficulty.   Can't remember which paddle does what at times , can't stop rolling in time , and can't move slowly enough to complete the levels.  I don't think anyone have completed it  Is getting easy enjoyable games to hard to ask for anymore?

    1. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

I gave up on the game. There were certain elements about it (beyond the controls) that were unfair. (Such as restarting you prior to an obstacle that you already cleared, situations where your timer could just run out over and over, etc.) More frustration than fun for me. But I know some people really like it.

  24. Not gaming related, but why (and I know) do so many rechargeable products NOT have more easily replaceable batteries!  Had to carefully open my electric razer and unsolder and solder in a new battery, and then our wine opener...  Opened it, and yep, I need to solder in a new one.   I can do that, but what a waste.  Most people won't!  Grrr....

    1. Nathan Strum

      Nathan Strum

Because the companies making the products want you to buy their products again. Not batteries.
