    I am such a TI-99/4A noob. Been tearing apart joysticks and controller ports for days and just found out the wonders of the "Alpha lock" key. Sheeesh!

      That threw me off on my first TI years ago as well. Thankfully, one of my games tells you to make sure the alpha key is up.
