Current thrift store console finds
Chuck D. Head replied to Master Phruby's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Same as everyone else here; PS1, cube and xbox in that order, but, I have seen a rash of Genesis lately, probably five or six in the last two months. I did see a Goldstar 3DO for $25 but the return policy was not good, so I left it. -
I've got a bike, you can ride it if you like. It's got a basket, a bell that rings and Hello Kitty stickers to make it look good....

I've got a game plan
Chuck D. Head replied to TheGameCollector's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nice! The biggest part of succeeding is having a plan, and most people think about how they will economize on everything else, but don't consider how they will fill their spare time. It looks like your spare time is accounted for, so no spending time or money that you can't afford. Hope it works out! -
Hmmm, well pretty much everyone who frequents this sub-forum is a wiseguy, so rounding up the usual suspects will be quite a chore. I do defy you to try all those games and not find something fun.

2 worthy video game podcasts
Chuck D. Head replied to S1500's topic in Gaming Publications and Websites
Get ready for another one. You may have created a monster. -
Is it safe to put TVs/game consoles on carpet?
Chuck D. Head replied to JadeETC's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I have noticed a particular propensity for the original Intellivision to overheat when used on carpet. In general, if the bottom of a piece of electronics has ventilation slots or holes, then it should be sitting on a hard surface. -
Do You Buy Retro Videogames as an Investment?
Chuck D. Head replied to boxpressed's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I kind of side with option #2. I only consider value as it relates to what I am paying (did I get a deal or get ripped off?) and buy the games to play and probably hold onto. I think the relative investment value only factors in as far as the fact that I am comfortable spending money on games knowing that I can liquidate when needed and am not likely to lose money. -

Freind request sent. I know not of this exploit; I got tired of waiting for those damn tiles and stopped building long ago, but if there is a way to do it faster.... -
Atari 2600 Activision Action Figures (one-offs)
Chuck D. Head replied to Chuck D. Head's topic in Atari 2600
Here are some series two suggestions that I posted on the Retroist article: Fisherman from Fishing Derby Prisoner from Kaboom Pilot w/scarf from Barnstormer Grandpa from Bridge and, for the girls, how about Rhonda from Pitfall II? -
No, you can't buy them, but they are very cool: http://www.retroist.com/2013/11/21/atari-era-activision-custom-action-figures/

Hmm, That sounds like a lair design I have had in mind since early childhood. Included missile silos, secret labs, underwater sub launch tunnels and immense underground caverns with artificial light, where I would grow crops for food and pigs for bacon.

Simpsons Tapped Out Halloween Event has begun
Chuck D. Head replied to SpiceWare's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Heh, heh. Yeah, I think some folks just keep one street to make it easier to find all the characters to task them, but I don't like the look at all. I also cant stand seeing large expanses of "house farms" even though I have small one myself. I seem to be accumulating cash OK right now, so when I rearrange all those blue houses are going into the box. -

Nice lookin' town Spiceware! I like how your Noiseland Arcade diversified with the bumper cars out back and the arrangement of the open air amphitheater thing looks nice. Hope you didn't get lost in my junky little Springfield; I really need to spring for some land expansion and spread stuff out. I really like how wide-open your Krustyland is. -
Simpsons Tapped Out Halloween Event has begun

OK, I cut out the slackers and am down to a manageable 17 friends. I sent requests to the three of you that posted your ID. If I remember correctly, I did have to add some temporary friends for the holiday season last year and many of the ones I deleted just stopped playing between then and now, -

I will prune my list and add all of you tonight. I play every day, but don't necessarily visit everyone everyday if there is not a push for something (goo, snakes, etc.). If there is something like that, I am all over it, otherwise I might skip a day here and there. My ID is wewent42. FYI, it looks like I have been playing a whole year now, one of the first things I bought was the Itchy parade balloon and now we are back to thanksgiving. -
I'm not even sure Cmart is a real person, maybe a bot or an alias for someone else. I keep thinking I am going to get to meet him at PRGE, but something always comes up. Kinda suspicious. Maybe Rev is pulling the strings?

Anyone collect Tiger lcd games?
Chuck D. Head replied to Dripfree's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I recently picked up another one, Talking Baseball All-Stars, which is kind of interesting. Usually, "announcers" are the most irritating part of a sports game, but in this case they really enhance the "acceptable" (by lcd game standards) gameplay. The players from the most recent all-star game are announced by their last name with their accurate batting average and the gameplay is announced also. There is supposedly also a talking Die Hard game by Tiger, which I would like to find, but I am sure the catch phrase would be truncated to a disappointing "yipee ki yay". -
Shredded Hover Bovver boxes......bring a kleenex
Chuck D. Head replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Wow! I just caught up on this. For the most part, I will just let sleeping dogs lie, but..........I do know what I will get my buddy Rev for christmas: http://www.goodstufffromus.com.au/MDI-BX-SS-SS The models I used for my Paddle Party art gave me that link and swear by the product. The irreverent sense of humor usually makes the AA Inty community more fun, but I suppose you live by the sword and sometimes die by it. Go play some games guys. -
Complete 2nd set of overlays?
Chuck D. Head replied to Rick Reynolds's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Sigh. Why the HELL did you have to bring this up? Upon further review, yes, I would like to have a set with my boxed games and an additional set of at least one each to collect and thumb through like trading cards. Damn it. -
So the NES did all these to save gaming?

Rev, I believe I already had an agreement that my box art would be used. I will not put up with your constant interference on this. -
Just relived some of the magic Backin89 threads and wanted to reflect upon it through a Shatku: Sleeping in the cold Wish I'd helped him get that bike crackpipe won't stay lit.

As usual, Bill makes some good points, but being neither as rational or mature as him, I will just edit his post to reflect my feelings...
