I absolutely agree that the games are for playing and not speculating, but I don't think that what he is doing is speculating. If I found a game worth $1,000 for $5, I would have to sell it, given my financial situation right now. Not selling a $1,000 game is no different from spending the mortgage money to buy the game off eBay. Some people may be able to rationalize it, but I can't bullshit myself like that. Also, if I were the one in the deal and sold it for $1,000, I would probably put most of the money into bills, but keep a little bit out to still buy and enjoy some games. For all we know the OP may be looking at it in a different way all together, like "this is cool, but I can sell this one game and go on a retro gaming shopping spree", which is still about the games.

Is anyone looking for a Gemini power supply? I have one of these bad boys with it's long ass cord that I would trade for a standard power supply. I know they all work the same, but I would prefer one that is correct for a Jr., but would accept any in good condition. I just figure the Coleco one should go to someone who needs it.

It will be interesting to see what happens to the prices after being released on VC. I bought Gamecube Pikmin 2 about a month before the Wii rerelease was announced, since then the eBay sales for good complete copies have not dropped much. They were going from $45-55 on average and now they are still mostly selling for $42-50 and loose discs still going for $30. Granted the production numbers for Earthbound were probably much more.
