If I needed one, I don't think I would pay more than $45-50 for this lot, unless the console or controller were one of the special colors or something. Morgan

High Score Club 8.10 - Towering Inferno

So far, so good. I got 2,020 after 2 buildings plus two floors, then it seemed the speed increased a lot. I'll try again later. Morgan -
Court Ruling Threatens Used Game Sales
Chuck D. Head replied to Mendon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Bottom line is, it will be their undoing...I occasionally buy new games at retail BECAUSE I know I can resell it. I will buy the new hot title for $50, knowing I can play it and resell it within a reasonable time for a sure $20. If I can't resell it, the new game is worth $30 to me, not $50. They are driving the bus towards the cliff. Morgan -
Oh do go on, sir, do go on... OK, well I generally think of myself as being very observant and thorough; when I am at a thrift or garage sale, I am very careful to look for the items that are hidden or hard to see and often come up with items that I think someone has hidden to pick up on half-price day, or to pick up as an employee after their shift. Anyway, on Tuesday, I was at my favorite GW and didn't find much, picking up a few non-game items. I was standing in line, and I turned around and looked at the guy who had come up behind me in line. I'll be damned if he didn't have in his hands a Crazy Climber handheld. I had never seen one in person, but recognized it right away. I had seen him in the same areas I had been in, so I asked him (in a disgusted tone of voice) "now, where the hell did you find that?!?". He said, "it was in the toy aisle; you picked it up and moved it". I still haven't really recovered from that. Morgan

Hmmm.....does anyone think that a "Official Sumguy Story Thread" would be a good idea? I have a doozy to start it out with. Morgan

High Score Club 8.10 - Towering Inferno
Chuck D. Head replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Well, I never knew about the put out all the the flames and the walls and timer go away thing. It's kind of interesting, but only practical for a while. Once you get to the second building, you need to nut up (or female equivelant), take some chances and save some lives. Got to about floor five of building two and the flames were all of a sudden filling the whole level and I got careless. 1,303 will have to do for tonight. Morgan -
Topdog, I dont know if you are familiar with the AccuCut die cutters or not. Typically they are use by scrapbookers or kindergarten teachers and the like, to die cut letters and shapes out of paper. Anyhow, they also make custom dies as shown in this link. http://www.accucutcraft.com/Custom_Dies-aa168c1p44.html? Dont know the cost, but it might be an option. Morgan

Last week's "How I met Your mother" showed Marshall as a kid, playing Pitfall. You dont see the screen, just him with the controller/ Morgan

ummm, just to clarify, is that $50 for just the unit and $85 for the whole package? BTW, how much $$$ do you have left to raise? Rootin' for ya!! Morgan

Very cool, thanks RT!!! This is very fun; may be the thing that pushes me into the pool of trying to program me a schitty little game of some kind. Morgan -
High Score Club 8.09 - Pitfall II: Lost Caverns
Chuck D. Head replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
OK, I made it a little better; hit two times and one fall that cost me a hundred (how mad would I be if I got 198,900??) and got it to: 192,563. Morgan -

Chuck D. Head replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Great job Zoyx!! I am contemplating whether to continue to try for perfect, I am just making lots of little mistakes, but got the score way up after a few more tries - 188,917 I will probably get time for a few more runs on Tuesday. Morgan -

OK, I never saw an an answer to my question about the scoring, so I waited to post a score until I could finish. 107,612 is the final score, although, I dont think my highest at any point during the game was very much higher - Lots of problems all the way through. Morgan -
Can Aquarius Cassette Tape games be copied?
Chuck D. Head replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I tried to copy Tandy tapes in my dad's high speed dubbing machine and that did'nt go so well, but copying them at normal speed on a dual cassette seemed to work fine. Make sure you dont have noise reduction or anything like that enabled, though. It seems like I heard folks didn't have much luck when trying to copy Supercharger tapes, though, so this may be something that is more finicky for some platforms than others. Morgan -

FOR SALE: Older Board Game & Furby - Former Pony Post!
Chuck D. Head replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
Well, I guess they are kinda cute. Don't kid yourself fellas, someone will be all over these. Good luck on the sales, AX. Morgan -
Gotcha, thanks. Definitely not worth it then. Something that can "brick" an N64 is a wonder on it's own, the console itself being tough as nails, in my experience. I'll just get one real one and swap it out. I never have had one, so I'm anxious to see what improvements are shown. Been playing Gauntlet Legends a lot lately and if it makes it look a little better, it will be a treat for my old eyes. Morgan

Must be, it was last night for sure, and after I realized what I was whistling, I looked around to see if anyone noticed, not that any of the oddballs that I work with would recognize it. I vowed to participate in the HSC every week since they restarted, and lost interest with the 4 game week, and haven't gone back. I'll look and see what this week is. Yeah It's Pitfall 2 this week. I also dropped off on the 4-game thing, I just didn't enjoy the games and was a little overwhelmed then. I got back in last week with Demon Attack and will make a token effort with PF2. I tend not to play if I don;t have the cart, unless it is something I have a special interest in. Morgan

OK, well...wow! Let's start over. I tend to agree with the concept that you would, in general, be better off to just buy the Nintendo branded expansion pak. My question is, has anyone here ever had a problem because of a 3rd party expansion pak?
-
You mentioned that in another post yesterday I believe, THANKS!!! I caught myself whistling it walking to my car in the parking garage about midnight last night leaving work. (Some AC/DC cured me though) I think that was someone else who mentioned it on the HSC post; I didn't catch that fever until last night. I don't know if I will play it again to try an post a decent score or not. Back home after trying to work for a few hours and going to bed; at least this time I will probably dream about the stupid stuff that happens at work. Morgan

I have been buying any of the joystick or paddle version I can get for $3 or less and giving them to kids and friends that have shown an interest in my Atari stuff. They are not worth $$$, but they are great for spreading the love of old games. Morgan

Geez, I don't even know if it qualifies as a dream; last night after loading up on NyQuil I kept replaying the nightmare of 'effing Pitfall II.......getting hit by damn frogs and birds and getting slowly yanked back to the save point with the damn reptetive music playing over and over in my head. It wasn't even the last thing I did before going to bed, maybe three hours before and I even played Jack and the Beanstalk in between. It also has repetetive music, but I guess the combination of the music and frustration of PF2 is special nightmare inducing stuff. Morgan

S1500, unless you turn the box inside out, USPS won't ship anything in a beer/liquor box. Morgan

Thanks Leaf! That got it; just used to player one being on the left side, I guess. It does play pretty well, especially on defense, but I went down to a 3 - 0 loss. Had just a little trouble with the baserunning.... Thanks again, Morgan

High Score Club 8.09 - Pitfall II: Lost Caverns
Chuck D. Head replied to Ze_ro's topic in 2600 High Score Club
Soooo....do we just take the highest score at any point, or does it need to be at the end? Not sure I'm gonna make it, that You Tube video gave me some serious feelings of inadequacy.....Morgan
