The big problem I had was that we were flooded in 2007 as well. FEMA helped us slightly back then (replaced our outside central air) and they claimed that they were purchasing a five year group flood insurance for the neighborhood. I said "great", used my own funds back then to replace floorboards and insulation (upwards of $8k) and moved on.
Fast forward to 2010. Yet another flood and I *thought* we'd be ok remembering back to what FEMA had said about the group flood insurance. Well, when I filed the claim they said that we had NO insurance and they denied the entire conversation I had with them back in 2007. They said that they didn't know who I spoke to and that there was never a group flood insurance purchase for the neighborhood.
It is really my fault for not following up and requesting policy information, but with work, our kid and a new one on the way.... I just moved forward after picking up the pieces from the 2007 flood.
What I should have done is worked to move OUT of a flood area entirely!
Well, we'd be glad to have you up here. A lot of rain days, but always seems mild compared to what the rest of country is going through at any given time..maybe 5 or 6 90 plus days, 3 or 4 snow days, no animals that will kill you, no earthquakes or hurricanes, normal sized bugs in smaller numbers. Just the occasional volcano to worry about and, oh yeah, the rain.

If they gave $100 for it that's pretty generous for a pawnshop as I don't think they can't make much profit on it.
I gave up on this show, but have watched a few "American Pickers" episodes and I feel they pay way too much for the stuff they are buying. I guess they are less frugal because, well, it's a TV show. Morgan

It is certainly a bitter sweet victory. When I found the ad yesterday and begged my wife to allow us to pull the money out of the account to pay for it, she was very skeptical. I told her that it was 300 games, and I could surely sell half of them (whatever they were) for $1 each at best, make back the money to reimburse the account, and have some games for myself.
Worked out way better than I expected, and I was able to give her back the money and a bit more and keep the rest of the games.
Still doesn't help the fact that we are in this flood issue. I didn't have flood insurance because we simply couldn't afford it, and of course FEMA refused to help because of that fact. I'd never wish this natural disaster on anyone...it really took us from doing ok to struggling in a matter of 24 hours.
OK, being careful not to be political here...So FEMA is only supplemental to insurance?? Doesn't make too much sense. I would ass-u-me that the lower income folks, who need the help, are the ones living in the flood plain in general and cant afford the insurance in the first place? Anyway, I hope you get things fixed up and straightened out. As much as I curse living on a hill and not having much flat ground on my property, I am glad I dont have to deal with flooding. Morgan

To tell you the truth, I am really on the wall about it. I played some of the CommaVid games today. Wow! These games are really cool! I remember reading magazines about alot of these games when I was a kid and in love with my VCS. My parents weren't exactly rich and I was lucky to get a game every few months. I think my collection totaled under twenty games when all was said and done in those days

Now, I have the chance to admire and play many games I never had. Truth be told my wife is more about selling (she doesn't care one bit about games unfortunately for me) and I did sell *one* game out of this bunch that made back the money I pulled from our account to do this in the first place.
I think I am going to try to keep them and come up with other means to get our problems solved. Being unemployed and living in a state that is in the top 10 for unemployment certainly does not help the situation tho!
By all means, do not feel bad about taking care of your family and your house. Sell away!! My family needs a new house, badly. I live in a mobile that is a dump, even though I own the land. I cant justify taking money away from the family to buy games, so I try to sell half of what I find to pay for the half I keep. The bitch of it right now is games seems not to be selling well on eBay for me. I will be listing stuff here until the fall when things usually sell for their ture potential on eBay. So you may want to wait, but conrats on the score! I know it feels good to win big every once in a while!! Morgan

I can say 99% certain there is no difference.
Phil
Thanks! I got a comic in a batch of misc junk so it is not the one that came with my game. If there is a minor difference I wouldnt really care, just wanted to make sure the right one didnt say Sears or Telegames on the front. I would love to find the box, though. Morgan

Hey, a question; can anyone verify for me if there is any difference between the comic book that came with Star Raiders regular and Sears versions?? Also, if anyone has a loose and lonely Sears Star Raiders box they want to get rid of please pm me. Thanks, Morgan

Teenagers walking through my livingroom while I am playing my 2600 who say something like "oohh, those are awesome graphics" with a sarcastic tone. Happened again last night; they were lucky I didn't have one of those newfangled pause buttons, or I would have given out a beatdown. Naw, not my style....I just calmly said "yeah, this game is on a CBS ramplus cartridge, so there is an extra 4K of memory on the cartridge". Morgan

I picked up a pair of Channel F controllers at the GW today. I havent had too much experience with Channel F, but I dont remember them having the "Video Command" label with red, orange and yellow stripe. Is this a later version or maybe sold as Atari controller?? any ideas? Morgan

Scented Garbage bag and a ton of crumpled up news paper. Seal it up for a couple of days. This also gets rid of Smoke smell.

This idea works on almost anything, although I usually also put a little box of baking soda in there also.....Morgan

Starting from the beginning:
The transition has begun... on July 12th, 2010
The first rays of light shone over the mountains on the horizon as a new day began. It is coming... July 17th, 2010
Then
The feathers of the Phoenix were ruffled slightly, though it's true glory still shines through, flight is imminent... July 18th, 2010
Then today:
One wing stretched out, head cocked a little, the Phoenix looks out from it's place of slumber, a flight path has been chosen, soon it will take flight forever more... July 21st, 2010
A raw, guttural, caw escapes. The Phoenix has spoken, stretching in it's nest. The day is imminent... July 23rd, 2010
Those that have eyes, have seen. Those with ears, have listened. The journey begins this day... July 29th, 2010
After much mourning and fear, it lives, returning to traverse a journey no other has. The Phoenix prepares for flight... July 30th, 2010
That breeze you feel is the Phoenix in the air... August 7th, 2010
A second Phoenix has made itself known...Once enemies, to the end...Their path still unknown...What devastation will they rend? August 13th, 2010
If this is some sort of reference to Atari being a phoenix and rising from the ashes again; well....it is truly an ugly, scrawny phoenix with most of it's feathers missing. If this is a teaser for a new homebrew version of Phoenix, the game, then I'm in.... Morgan

Decided I would let my little stick man have a break and take a vacation in the secret kingdom. One of the things I love about this game is easter egg / programming glitch detailed (and I mean DETAILED) in this page:
How about a +1 for anyone who gets there? (says he after hes already done it

I finally finished the third level...theres a lot of failure that goes along with a score of 140,550 and only three levels. I did determine that my route to the top will work with the lowest 1:00 time limit, with zero mistakes. I made what I figure was a two second error and ran out of time middle of my final jump. Morgan

and found a quarter in the parking lot.

Post some pics; or it never happened

Considering that I just scored 150615 (pic later) and got five successful coronations, you're definitely right. I'm hoping I can get lots of points while minimizing failures. I'm also more of a "complete the levels" kind of player... in fact, last week was the only time I ever paid attention to score in Solaris.
Oh my! I have some catching up to do....I think past level three you are really going to be pushed to make it in one try anyway, with the diminishing time limits, I think the time to get to the top never gets lower than 1:00 but the time to find the flame keep going down???? Morgan

I reached 130something points after being crowned Mountain King three times. Alas, my flashlight habit caused me to accidentally wipe the score. Hopefully I can beat my new best and be able to post it.
Ahhh crap!!! I did this on one of my first games Wednesday; greedilly looking around for one more treasure chest to bump my score by 250 and never even knew what my final score was. Good job anyway, sounds like you are maximizing each level with that score. I never played for score before, just cared about completing levels. If you are efficient and finish each level quickly you are punished on score; a time bonus on this game would be awesome. Morgan

Don't forget to use your flashlight to look for those 250 point treasure boxes, they are almost always found at the ends of the sections and not near the top or bottom of the hill. Anytime you are in a an extended jump or a freefall go ahead and shine your flashlight to the left and to the right as you fall, to find those chests, they save you precious time.

The problem isn't the spider anymore. It's avoiding the damn bats!
You will learn to juke them bat-stards right out of their shoes!! Keep it up! Morgan

I love the label art on the homebrews but I gotta say I was a little disappointed when my entry wasn't chosen for the "Incoming!" label contest:
Bwwaaahaaahahaa! That face is precious and badass all at the same time......Morgan

Not to change the subject, but, does anyone want to talk about how retarded I am for continually coming back to read this thread?? Morgan

Got the crown, then one of the bats stole it. Went back to grab more jewels... and became spider fodder.
The spiders really arent a big deal; once you get "webbed" just move the stick up and down rapidly until you are free. Morgan

Could this be the biggest score ever in one shot?

I would be pretty excited for the CommaVid stuff myself. I remember seeing the ads in Electronic Games and looking everywhere forever for the games and never saw one. IIRC, the boxes had a game number on the side which would have made compulsive me frustrated in wanting to find all of them. Morgan
