Dumbest thing you've heard people say about games/systems
Chuck D. Head replied to 4Ks's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I was waiting to play a Vectrex in the freeplay area at Cowlitz Gamers for Kids (retro show in Kelso, WA - look for it next spring - free plug!) and a punk standing there was saying to his friend on the game "looks like all the games are just lines, why didn't they use real graphics". Why he was even there I have no clue' looking for retro PS2 stuff maybe..... Morgan -
I thought the "sunglare" was kind of cool the first time I saw it in a racing game, but got old the second time. Maybe if they were to map a controller button to "sunglasses on / off"?? Morgan

I have seen this in action and it is Sweeeeeeeet!!! I took a tour through the Pelco factory in Fresno and got to see their R&D department. The "print head" deposits a liquid material that solidifies to a hard wax that is suitable for mold making. I got some info on the entry-level printer; it is about $50K. The finished product is not a plastic product, per se, but it does simplify testing of design and facilitates cheaper mold making. Morgan

Could this be the biggest score ever in one shot?

I would be pretty excited for the CommaVid stuff myself. I remember seeing the ads in Electronic Games and looking everywhere forever for the games and never saw one. IIRC, the boxes had a game number on the side which would have made compulsive me frustrated in wanting to find all of them. Morgan -

Well, we'd be glad to have you up here. A lot of rain days, but always seems mild compared to what the rest of country is going through at any given time..maybe 5 or 6 90 plus days, 3 or 4 snow days, no animals that will kill you, no earthquakes or hurricanes, normal sized bugs in smaller numbers. Just the occasional volcano to worry about and, oh yeah, the rain. -

I gave up on this show, but have watched a few "American Pickers" episodes and I feel they pay way too much for the stuff they are buying. I guess they are less frugal because, well, it's a TV show. Morgan -

OK, being careful not to be political here...So FEMA is only supplemental to insurance?? Doesn't make too much sense. I would ass-u-me that the lower income folks, who need the help, are the ones living in the flood plain in general and cant afford the insurance in the first place? Anyway, I hope you get things fixed up and straightened out. As much as I curse living on a hill and not having much flat ground on my property, I am glad I dont have to deal with flooding. Morgan -

By all means, do not feel bad about taking care of your family and your house. Sell away!! My family needs a new house, badly. I live in a mobile that is a dump, even though I own the land. I cant justify taking money away from the family to buy games, so I try to sell half of what I find to pay for the half I keep. The bitch of it right now is games seems not to be selling well on eBay for me. I will be listing stuff here until the fall when things usually sell for their ture potential on eBay. So you may want to wait, but conrats on the score! I know it feels good to win big every once in a while!! Morgan -
Thanks! I got a comic in a batch of misc junk so it is not the one that came with my game. If there is a minor difference I wouldnt really care, just wanted to make sure the right one didnt say Sears or Telegames on the front. I would love to find the box, though. Morgan
-
Hey, a question; can anyone verify for me if there is any difference between the comic book that came with Star Raiders regular and Sears versions?? Also, if anyone has a loose and lonely Sears Star Raiders box they want to get rid of please pm me. Thanks, Morgan

Teenagers walking through my livingroom while I am playing my 2600 who say something like "oohh, those are awesome graphics" with a sarcastic tone. Happened again last night; they were lucky I didn't have one of those newfangled pause buttons, or I would have given out a beatdown. Naw, not my style....I just calmly said "yeah, this game is on a CBS ramplus cartridge, so there is an extra 4K of memory on the cartridge". Morgan -
I picked up a pair of Channel F controllers at the GW today. I havent had too much experience with Channel F, but I dont remember them having the "Video Command" label with red, orange and yellow stripe. Is this a later version or maybe sold as Atari controller?? any ideas? Morgan

I think I would do a lot better finding the damn flame spirit if it weren't for all the damn rf snow on the screen; gotta do a a/v mod soon. Anyway, I'm done for now.....finished level five again - 184,265 Morgan

This idea works on almost anything, although I usually also put a little box of baking soda in there also.....Morgan -
If this is some sort of reference to Atari being a phoenix and rising from the ashes again; well....it is truly an ugly, scrawny phoenix with most of it's feathers missing. If this is a teaser for a new homebrew version of Phoenix, the game, then I'm in.... Morgan

Five trips to the top and not much better score than with three - 161,365 Morgan

Decided I would let my little stick man have a break and take a vacation in the secret kingdom. One of the things I love about this game is easter egg / programming glitch detailed (and I mean DETAILED) in this page: Mt King Hidden Level How about a +1 for anyone who gets there? (says he after hes already done it ) Morgan

I finally finished the third level...theres a lot of failure that goes along with a score of 140,550 and only three levels. I did determine that my route to the top will work with the lowest 1:00 time limit, with zero mistakes. I made what I figure was a two second error and ran out of time middle of my final jump. Morgan

Post some pics; or it never happened Morgan -
Oh my! I have some catching up to do....I think past level three you are really going to be pushed to make it in one try anyway, with the diminishing time limits, I think the time to get to the top never gets lower than 1:00 but the time to find the flame keep going down???? Morgan
-
Ahhh crap!!! I did this on one of my first games Wednesday; greedilly looking around for one more treasure chest to bump my score by 250 and never even knew what my final score was. Good job anyway, sounds like you are maximizing each level with that score. I never played for score before, just cared about completing levels. If you are efficient and finish each level quickly you are punished on score; a time bonus on this game would be awesome. Morgan
-
A very small improvement - 87,905. Almost completed level three; I ran out of time one jump from the top. I think I need to rethink my path to the top. Morgan
-
Don't forget to use your flashlight to look for those 250 point treasure boxes, they are almost always found at the ends of the sections and not near the top or bottom of the hill. Anytime you are in a an extended jump or a freefall go ahead and shine your flashlight to the left and to the right as you fall, to find those chests, they save you precious time.

I hate bats, but I love this game; for so many reasons. 2nd try tonight was pretty good; two coronations at the top of the hill and just missed a third two times and 87,335 points. Woo Hoo!

You will learn to juke them bat-stards right out of their shoes!! Keep it up! Morgan
