its called Duke Nukem sorry it has taken FOREVER to get this game developed.

All of my games for my 360 are used except a few games that i bought new when i bought my 360 new about 8 months ago. i bought L4D2 new, MW2 new, and got PGR4 new with the live bundle that came with the chat pad, a year of live and a headset. the rest are used and i own about 10 games so far.
The only DLC i bought was the first map pack for MW2, even that was 1600 points ( a bit to much if you ask me, to me it was only worth around 800 points).
$20 for a map pack is a bit extreme if you ask me. i am not going to get the second map pack at all because of how much it is. i got burned once, i will not get burned again.
The only way you get to see those maps is by playing online or making a private match.
I did buy the updated perfect dark, uno, and another card game, and soon trials HD.
now i might buy the balled of gay tony for GTA because it looks like its really worth the cost because it adds so much to the game ( that is what i call a real add-on) .

wow that looks like some form of the build engine

There is going to be another crash and I will be there to scoop up all the abandoned hardware and games just like before. The irony being that you'll get to choose from a bunch of incomplete games with DLC that can no longer be downloaded.
Gibson has double-crossed you!

oh yeah, all of those games for the original xbox that could get DLC is all but lost since the original Live is no more (except for a few that came out with DLC disks that has the updates and add ons, Halo 2 comes to mind as one of the games that had the add on disk). just before live got shut off for the original xbox i downloaded what i could onto my 360 (sad that many DLC never became free or had a reduced price). i can only imagine that somewhere someone has archived the DLC for most games for the original xbox.
There was still allot that i could not grab because that content never became free even towards the end.

There are games that do well with touch only, and there are games that do well with both and there are games that only do well with physical buttons. I have tried gaming on a touch only device (games that are best with physical buttons) and quite honestly its not that great.
i am with godslabrat & Austin.

Thanks guys. Think I'll get another DC for playing the games that don't work on my original one. And when the laser finally goes on the original one, I'll buy a new laser.
The thing is that they are getting more hard to find, there use to be quite a few places that sold the laser replacement for the DC but now its down to only a few (that i have seen).
its better to buy them now when people still have them then wait to buy and not being able to buy one.
its going to get to the point that people is going to start scavenging parts from used broken systems and selling them (its already to that point now for the DC). and who knows how long a used part will last, as well with a used console).
Its good to have a backup system, but then you got to ask yourself on how well did the previous owner take care of it, or how much was the system used. heck it could be the same reason (or starting to show signs) why its being sold.
-
Thats why you can either play system link if you have more then one console and more then one copy of the game (that is one reason it has ethernet), or you can fall back on xlink kai or xbox connect for online play (only available if the game has system link play).
or do it old school via split screen.
but needless to say there is always a way around.
I do not play much online anymore (with PSN nor live) because of the same want to be know it all butt holes that always brag and talk crap and do not know how to have fun, and if you beat them they get all butt hurt about it. and the little kids that play online that has a mouth that could make a sailor blush, plus most of them are very annoying.
one thing i like about xlink kai and xbox connect is that most kids do not know how to configure it to work nor can buy the proper hardware to make it work so you see allot more adults then kids (not saying there isn't any kids, but there is allot less of them).

I agree with everything madmax said except 1 thing. Why spend $26 for a new lens when you can get a used Dreamcast for around half the price?
as long as everything else works on the DC i would rather replace the laser then to buy another DC. its good to have a backup DC but eventually the eye will go out in that as well. i bought a few of those lasers for when the issue comes up again.
I should scout out for spindle motors as well as the eye, you never know if that could be starting to go and if the RPM isn't at the right speed you will run the same like issues as well.
-
My question is for those of you who have more than one Dreamcast.
When you have a particular game that just stops working, even though the disc still looks perfectly fine. When you try that same disc on another Dreamcast, will it usually work?
My first disc of Code Veronica has stopped working. I've always looked after it, and the disc looks perfectly fine. I've cleaned it, I've cleaned the DC's lens, but it still doesn't work.

The simple thing is after so long of use the eyes in the Dreamcast (or in any optical disk gaming console) the eye begins to become weak and cant read as good as it once did, the second issue is that the GD rom disk the DC uses are not created equal (neither are the optical eyes in the Dreamcast). there was quite a few games i bought new that would not boot up with the first attempt, after i replaced the eye all of my games worked great.
another thing is after a older Dreamcast get up to temperature after playing a while the eye can start to have issues reading the disk even if its flawless. I also had a few games that i had no trouble with at first but after a while of playing those games the sound would start to skip or the game would no longer load or would not boot up. It eventually got to the point to where i had issues with all of my games that worked fine.
the only way to fix this issue is to replace the eye. This is what i had to do to my Dreamcast a few years ago ( this Dreamcast has been in constant use when i bought it new in December of 99).
No amount of cleaning will fix a failing optical eye.
I had to replace the spindle motor about 4 years ago because somehow one of the brushes in the motor bent backwards.
http://www.badboyrides.com/product.php?productid=322&cat=0&page=1 one of the places that sells replacement eyes.

Well, remember, they are emulating the games. And it takes a LOT to emulate a modern console.
Another thing, due to it's setup with bluray and such, the PS3 is better equipped to handle 24P video out of the box, and the cutscenes may be shown at a lower framerate on the PS3 to take advantage of that, while he Xbox is justdoubling up every frame to hit it's 50-60.
Are you sure they are emulating?
But the prerendered cutsenes should not count in the overall framerate average thing at the end of the video...
I for one do not think they are emulating.
but i have seen so many multi platform games end up being just a crappy ports on the PS3 while the 360 version runs fine. so far i haven't seen many end up being a crappy port on the 360 side.
If the game was originally designed for the PS3 hardware the 360 might have a few issues running it properly (that is if they game devs used the PS3's SPE cores)and the game might need a to be rewritten just to run on the 360 (Final Fantasy XI comes to mind). if the game was originally designed for the 360 the PS3 might run into a few issues in running it properly (that is if the game devs used more then one core on the 360s CPU) the game might need to be rewritten to run on the PS3 (Bayonetta comes to mind).
The 360 and PS3 are similar when it comes to the PPE core, but things change after that, The PS3 only has one PPE core with the 7 SPE cores (but the SPE cores are limited to what they can do due to lack of available memory, lack of branch prediction, and limited by the PPE core itself). while the 360 has 3 PPE cores and no SPE cores that the PS3 has (having only 3 PPE cores it limits what it can do with what the SPE cores in the PS3 can do easily).

Maybe, just maybe, I'm being paranoid, but I've been thinking that if the game companies come up with a way to charge $10 or $15 or whatever to play a used game online.... in order to discourage the sale of used games and/or to obtain some profit from their sale..... how long before these same companies come up with a way so that ANY used game is crippled in solo mode also?
As I said, maybe I'm being totally paranoid but I can't help shake the feeling that once the companies get their hands on any part of used game sales, they won't just stop with online.
Mendon
heck you can almost say the same thing about DLC, although some are true add ons but some games DLC came out when the game did, or offer features you have to pay for (madden 10 comes to mind).
I think its only going to get worse where they cripple the game (lack of features and content) then make you pay to get those features and content that should have been in the game from the start.
I love DLC as much as the next person does but some things you should not have to pay for.
They will always find some way to milk you out of more money.

A lot of people hate on it, but I actually like the Library level. The library is one of my favorite levels, put the difficulty on legendary and its a blast with a shotty and assault rifle, to add to the fun play co-op with the same difficulty setting and its even more fun.
Its just one of a few levels that have you on the edge of your seat in sweat. love it.
343 Guilty Spark has to be another fave because you do run into allot of slow spots in the level then BAM! you get the flood.
also like The Truth And Reconciliation level (love to snipe and just like the name as well), its awesome when in co-op.

I use to play Halo in tournaments. 8 vs 8 and sometimes 4 vs 8
man the memories.
If you ask me the first Halo was the best. other then online game play Halo 2 was the beginning of the end.

I see this happening allot in live messages, if a friend posts it i report them and remove them. i hate these so called offers (that are only used to really get your account info, i have seen all to many of them. that should be a red flag right there).
-
I don't get close to piracy (it only hurts the software sales and makes it to where people don't want to make games because of the pirates), but i would be up for some homebrew though, i am all for homebrew.

I bought something like this for my PC, a white USB hub with ports for PS1/2, XBOX, and Gamecube controllers. it would be nice to get a few adapters to use the xbox big duke on the PS2 and gamecube.

You might want to check out the PS2 section of onlineconsoles.com to see what games might still be playable? Although I'm not sure how updated the list is. They also have a game organization area for people who want to play, and also info on how to set up XLink Kai(which someone mentioned earlier in this thread.)
http://playstation2.onlineconsoles.com/phpBB2/portal.php
If you're into or want to get into Tribes: Aerial Assault, they've managed to get it back online (not tunneling with XLink,) all the info is at Tribes AA.net I've played it a couple times recently, and I am awful at it, but it's really fun and plays really well online.
Nikon usually does a good job on trying to keep his site up to date ( i am a member there on the Dreamcast side), although he might pay a bit more attention to the dreamcast side then the others. its been a bit since i have been there.

You should be able to use it with xlink Kai (if the game has network play). but i think that is as online as your going to get with a PS2 anymore (same thing with the original xbox since live was shut off for it).
it supports other consoles and handhelds
http://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=65171 this is just a tut to get GT online with xlink kai (should be the same for any network enabled game).
there may be a few working titles (maybe some sports games) but don't quote me on that.
But the above opens up the door for many that had network play but no online mode so you could play against others around the world.
I know if you read the small print on some of the EA boxes it basically says that when the current season is over that online play might be pulled.
I might try to go online with Madden 99 and see what happens.

I am talking about games like madden 09 and 10, the latest version of nascar, and maybe a few others could still be online.
if 08 is offline then you can bet 99 is offline. they can take down the servers but they can not remove network play (which is what xlink kai uses).
but yeah i understand the fine print, its the same for every online game. Just because they remove it don't mean there isn't other ways.

That reminds me..
I saw an e-bait auction for some Amiga games, and the seller was saying that he'd ship the box and all, but the box (not being a foldie) would be "CUT" at the corners so it could lay flat for shipping!!!
There's something seriously wrong with a thought process such as that. You ever wonder about some of these people? Like if they're that stupid regarding this sort of thing, what other immediate life skills are they lacking?

They seem like the people that wonder why the PCI-E (or AGP) video card wont fit into a PCI slot and cut off parts of the card to make it fit and wonder why it don't work. but wow, cut the games box so that it will fit into a package, seems like it would be only common since they would get a bigger package/box to put it into to avoid having to do that.
I would avoid that seller.

Wow, using DOS brings back some memories, i haven't used it in years but i think i could still get around quite easily (configuring the autoexec.bat and config.sys, formatting and setting up software). i never really had to use the CLS command for much, i did use dir/w a bit and pause screen for those directories with a almost non ending list.
quite good times.
Your only old until you let yourself be old.

This crap has got to stop!

Since my original Xbox is dead ( HDD crashed, and DVD hardly worked when the HDD was working anyway) right now i have to rely on the crappy backwards compatibility emulation the 360 has to play my original Xbox games (my god KOTOR I and II plays like crap).
But eventually i will get my original xbox up and running again and mod that sucker so i can get the add-ons,
