Playing SMS games on the Genesis using the Everdrive MD
madmax2069 replied to Yurkie's topic in Sega Genesis
Cutting a hole in the controller and wiring up a switch sounds like a lot more effort than pulling a pin out of a connector. Why bother with the extra effort of controller mangling? Because I like the challenge, plus having a switch on it to select the modes would be what I want -
Playing SMS games on the Genesis using the Everdrive MD

I would just cut the wire in the controller that leads to that pin, wire a switch to them, cut a hole into the controller in a place where its out of the way. -
Suggest an old game. I'll make a comic about it!

I would take a soldering iron and go over the solder of the cart socket to reflow them, you could have a short due to a few of them being cracked.
-
I had this happen to two model 1 systems. One was just cracked solder (my original, bought new), the second one had ripped pads (bought used for a friend). My original lasted about 5 years when it developed this, reflowed it and has worked ever since. The model 1 are good for this even new, my original model 1 reset button never worked until I fixed the issue I mentioned above. I only found out that it worked after I fixed it due to a friend pressing it, before that it never worked. It had to be a alignment related issue. The second ones reset button didn't work either, and didn't work after I fixed it either. Most of my friends owned a model 1 with a reset button that did not work.

Service Offered: Sega Game Gear Repair
madmax2069 replied to the.golden.ax's topic in Buy, Sell, and Trade
I am definitely going to have to look into this as I have a screwed up gamegear. I am going to have to replace the board in mine before I have anything done, because It could be unfixable, or it just needs recapped. -
Anyone know what size screws will work in a N64?
madmax2069 replied to Razzie.P's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Your best bet would be to take the top of the case (and possibly the bottom) and go to a store that deals with screws and use the trial and error method. I looked around and only seen the head size and not the diameter and thread count. I don't know if a carts screw would have the same diameter and thread count as the systems case (but it will be shorter) to go by. -
My favorite G3 Mac has to be the Beige/Platinum series (minitower, desktop, all-in-one). They was native G3 systems, took up to 768mb ram, 3 pci slots, some even had the ability to record AV input and output to a tv by what's called wings personality card. I like them over the fruit colored iMac, the iMac and the beige series are basically the same except for the motherboard design and layout and case design, the beige was expandable and had a few other features (wings personality card, or whisper personality card). I own two beige G3 All-in-one. I could not be happier with them, one is upgraded, one is stock. Even though a PPC can run 68k software it doesn't always work, or doesn't work well which is why i have a 68k. As for a 68k i like the pizzabox formfactor, the performa 475 fills that spot. The 475 i own has been upgraded. I also own a Apple IIgs Wich serves a dual purpose due to its backwards comparability with the 8bit Apple II. Yeah you can emulate a PPC, 68k, or a Apple II or IIgs but it will never be the same as running on real hardware due to compatibility issues.

EA Screws Over Its Five Remaining Customers
madmax2069 replied to godslabrat's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I don't think Bioware has the option to "detach" themselves from EA. EA bought them. Oh man........... yeah bioware is another company out of the long list that EA has destroyed. Its only a matter of time before they become just a name. -
ahh good ole Outcast, i loved playing that game. I remember my first impression when i seen the trailer for it for the first time. For the life of me i can't remember what happened to mine, seeing that video makes me want to track down another copy. Sorry for going off topic.

Anyone use these trigger extenders?
madmax2069 replied to ComputerSpaceFan's topic in Sony Playstation 3
i have, they work the best when you need more accuracy in a fps game or more finesse when steering in a racing game. They do take a little bit to get use to because you're thumbs do sit higher and you do have to move you're thumbs further to get the same ammount of movement in game, it will throw you off. But after a while you will adjust to them and find out you can make slight adjustments more easily then before. Like i said, it will throw you off at first, but once you adjust to them you will improve. The higher they sit the more finesse you gain. The only downside to these on the ps3 controller is that you have more of a chance of your thumbs interfering with each other, you don't run into that with the 360 controller due to how far the thumbsticks are spaced apart. -
Guess who is never getting my money again?
madmax2069 replied to iswitt's topic in Modern Console Discussion
yes it is software, it sure the hell not hardware nor is it made out of nothing. Its a computer program used for entertainment, a computer program is software. -
That's why you should always rtfm, or if you don't have the users manual go to the official site. Also when you press the guide button there is a battery level indicator. If you are using standard batteries I would recommend on spending $20 and get the play & charge kit, it will save you in the long run. As for game recommendations I don't have many games. Halo anniversary, forza 3 and 4, left 4 dead 2, project Gotham racing 4, Duke nukem forever, gta IV are the only games I own for it

Two PS3 slim units...dead in two days...ugh

Yeah, I used work at Sears two years ago, that's when I found out the above info. But yeah they are a shell of their former selves. Never cared for Kmart, back in the 80s- mid 90s sears is where my family always done the Xmas, bday shopping. Not today, you can usually find the same thing cheaper at another store. I would rather die then to shop at Kmart and glorified Kmart. Hell Sears was charging more for the Xbox live cards before Ms raised the rates for live. I even think they charged more for the points cards as well. -
Although Im not really a fan of shmups, I sort of grown fond of shogun. Even on my android smartphone with its smaller screen, it performs and controls so smooth.

EA shutting down more servers
madmax2069 replied to onlysublime's topic in Modern Console Discussion
It's not an assumption, it's a fact. The vast majority of 360 games don't rely on dedicated servers and that's why the vast majority of 360 games still have online multiplayer capabilities. Beyond Electronic Arts releases, very few do (I can't think of a single example off hand, and just a single example on the original Xbox). But anyways it's pointless to argue it. And I just found multiple articles at mainstream gaming sites that reported on the end of Halo 2. The number of players eventually dwindled to a single person after about three weeks, who reported being booted from the server. It doesn't look like they pulled the plug while online multiplayer action was still taking place and waited until there was just a single individual still logged in. The only games on the 360 that uses s 3rd party dedicated server that has no control by Microsoft is that final fantasy mmorpg, battlefield games, the rest use peer to peer. With the 360 when you get signed out of live you got kicked out of the online game, with the original Xbox you could remain in a online game even if you was some how signed out of live, it's how they had it set up to keep the inconvenience down to a minimum when your playing a match. This is why people remained playing halo 2 long after the live servers was taken down, once the peer to peer Connection was made the rest was handled by who ever was the host. . Ps3 uses the same peer to peer system for the majority of the games but are ran by their respected company, just like with the 360 there are only a few games that use a dedicated server, DC Universe, that final fantasy mmorpg, mag, and the battlefield gamed. -

With any device you run into the chance of it being faulty, its been that way for ages. A HDD can fail as soon as its powered up, I have ran into so many more faulty HDDs then any other electronic part. Its just a run of bad luck, we all will run into it in one point in our life from vehicles to watches to computers. As for epay what else did you expect, which is the whole reason I hardly use that place. Glad you are forcing the hand on sending his overpriced junk pile to the seller. -
How much do you buy new vs used?
madmax2069 replied to SoulBlazer's topic in Modern Console Discussion
I'm about 80/20 used/new, there is only a few games I will buy new but the rest are used. -

Hmmm....mine are different than the ones you describe from Gamestop. I dont know what brand but those popped off easily. They didnt come with silicon covers. Not sure what I got but those that I got from there weren't any good (I think they only had them at the time and it may have been ordered online) Oops sorry they are not gamestop brand here are the ones i bought from gamestop, I only thought they was gamestop brand due to the brand name was covered by the stickers. http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B005D7G3LA/ref=redir_mdp_mobile/190-4877300-2055644 they are pelican brand and could not be happier, I absolutely love the silicone caps as well -

I use them and love them, the ones I bought came with silicon thumbnail stick caps/covers, paid like $8 for it. These extenders are the only way I can use a ps3 controller. I think they are gamestop brand, these seem to be a slightly different design and do not pop off easily. The silicon thumb stick cap/covers are a added extra and allow your thumbs to grip them.
