  1. Funny how much the top of the unit shares a resemblance with the first run of Neo Geo CD units in Japan
  2. Looks like Limited Run has announced new USB "spoon" controllers for PC/Switch alongside the multiplatform CD-i inspired platformer Arzette: https://limitedrungames.com/search?q=arzette
  3. Do we know of any new IPs or re-issues/special editions that Atari plans to release for the 2600 catalog going forward now that the 2600+ is out (right now we have the 10-in-1, 4-in-1, Berzerk Enhanced and Mr. Run and Jump).
  4. So, long story short, I not only collect all Ice Hockey video games (emphasis on physical console games, but also PC to some degree) but I'm also trying to come up with a comprehensive list of all games that have released that include the sport of Ice Hockey in them to some degree, whether it be a full representation of the sport within the game (usually in a sports compilation game) or a level or mini-game with an ice hockey theme or a previously released game in a Greatest Hits style compilation (I've found many of these for Ice Hockey and Video Olympics for the 2600). Here is what I've come up with so far: My own personal rules don't allow for the inclusion of pure Street Hockey (though I may change this), Air Hockey (unless it is very much Ice Hockey themed) or Pong Hockey titles (i.e. referring moreso to standalone Pong console units). I also realize I don't list some of the earlier compilations for the Philips Videopac, Bally Astrocade and Odyssey II. I have those titles in other lists. I'm more concerned with the relative modern spectrum of releases, since there is a large pile of stuff that hasn't been as picked over as first/second-gen console generations. Arcade/Sim hockey is included as a game mode (2 vs 2 or higher, traditional scoring): Deca Sports 2 (Hudson) - 2009 - Nintendo Wii Deca Sports Extreme (Hudson) - 2011 - Nintendo 3DS (*known as Sports Island 3D in Europe) Instant Sports All-Stars (Merge) - 2022 - Nintendo Switch / Playstation 5 Junior League Sports (XS Games) - 2010 - Nintendo Wii Junior League Sports 3-in-1 Collection (FunBox) - 2019 - Nintendo Switch Europe ONLY Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Winter Games (Nintendo) - 2010 - Nintendo Wii Mario & Sonic at the Sochi 2014 Olympic Winter Games (Nintendo) - 2013 - Nintendo Wii U Mario Party 5 (Nintendo) - 2003 - Nintendo Gamecube Mario Sports Mix (Nintendo) - 2010 - Nintendo Wii Video Olympics (Atari) - 1977 - Atari 2600 (some label variations exist) NOTE: Also released as “Pong Sports” by Sears. Winter Blast: 9 Snow and Ice Games (Destineer) - 2010 - Nintendo Wii Hockey is included as a themed game/mini-game (Shootout, 1 v 1, Table Hockey, etc...): 30 Sport Games in 1 (Just For Games) - 2023 - Nintendo Switch/PS5 101-in-1 Sports Party Megamix (Atlus) - 2011 - Nintendo Wii/Nintendo DS Big League Sports (Activision) - 2008 - Nintendo Wii Big League Sports (Activision) - 2011 - Xbox 360/Kinect Chuck E. 5. Owned an NTSC CD-i (One of the 200 numbers) years ago but sold it and a fairly crummy lot of games (stuff like CD Shoot and the golf game) awhile back. Recently got back into it more seriously, picking up 450 and 470 PAL (470 has CD-drive issues, might be the motor, still need to diagnose it) models along with cobbling together some of the more "serious" games. Here's a snapshot I took for a Reddit post but I've added a few more to that lot. The game library is actually much deeper than it is perceived to be (basically a non-entity) to those lacking perspective on the true breadth of the CD-i's catalog. It didn't really give us any true classics but there are easily 10-20 (arguably 30 or more if you really dig through the catalog) games that are worth playing and can at least be fun for a playthrough. The fact that it has poor emulation support (basically non-existent for games requiring DVC support) makes it more interesting to me from a preservationist's aspect (i.e. we really need to care for the original software/hardware)
  6. Ordered LE, can't believe a Longbox 3DO release will see the light of day in 2024, craziness. Enjoyed the CD-i releases from World of Games as well.
  7. NTSC'er here and was surprised to see my copies of Hot Action Pak and Sports Action Pak (Australian PAL) working on the machine but also getting issues with those (like skating on "black" ice in Ice Hockey on Sports Action Pak).
  8. Some of these answers are genuinely sad - I get the feeling some people feel honestly depressed about investing too much of their youth (and early adulthood) into gaming. Anyway, I was kinda a pack rat in my youth and saved many of my NES/SNES/Game Boy boxes perfectly flat in a box. My mom actually did a lot of this storage for me, and I still have these boxes in relatively mint condition to this day. It wasn't really for collecting purposes, just that I liked having them. I also have a pretty large stash of old gaming mags sitting at my parents house (though I'm often reminded by them to take time off and travel back so I can deal with all this stuff - which would cost probably as much money as I could get for selling them) My mother did step in and return a brand new Virtual Boy I bought for $20 when Shopko had them on clearance. I played with it for a bit and she thought it would give me a brain tumor. We both didn't think of the possible value in just storing it, so it was a battle I guess I was more or less willing to lose. Would love to be able to flip that boxed Virtual Boy console nowadays. I also missed on a $20 boxed Genesis III console that sat on the Toys r Us clearance shelf well into the 32-bit era, it must have been there for two years at least. Always thought it was funny sitting there, now that memory is staring right back at me with the last laugh. I have less regret about tossing stuff away, since that was exceedingly rare in my life, than selling something too early for too little or selling something that I now wish I had anyway. I collected 3DS games early in the console's life and had nearly 100 before I decided to sell off the entire thing for $1000. Sometimes I still wish I had that collection since for the first year and a half of the 3DS I was likely the only person out there cataloging all the specifics of the 3DS releases and variations. But it was bleeding my wallet keeping up with it, so it was probably good to let it go.
  9. Well - just an update, I got an AC Adapter I ordered off of ebay (guy is also selling a complete and fully boxed console on there for $110). Plugged the gizmondo (sans battery of course) into the wall and nothing happened. I'm not sure if there might be some special button presses I need to do to "wake it up", but I'm a bit bummed right now. Can't tell what is dead (unit or the adapter), or if the unit I have is possibly one from the UK and the wall charger is a US one (it fits fine though...). Will keep tinkering...
  10. Great to know! Well, I'm ordering the adapter then and hope the console boots just fine. Of all things I collect hockey games, so I'll have to track down a copy of Hockey Rage 2005 if this thing works...
  11. I did see that and am putting it in my back pocket in case I really need to treat this as a "craft" project of sorts... Hoping there might be an easier solution or if the unit just works if plugged in...
  12. Hey all, I inherited a Gizmondo (assuming it is a U.S. unit) without a battery or an AC Adapter/power supply of any sort. I know next to nothing about this console other than the name alone. I've found a couple listings for the Gizmondo power supply but have had nearly no luck tracking down a battery (other than purchasing a full Gizmondo unit on ebay, which I'm not interested in. I guess a couple questions here: Can you run the Gizmondo with its power supply plugged in and no battery installed? I don't really need to take this "on the go" with me. If not, is there an easy replacement battery option. I stumbled onto some old forum posts elsewhere claiming you can "convert" a couple different mobile batteries, but I have no idea what would go into that or if that means you can simply take that battery and plug it right in. Any help/ideas would be appreciated!
  13. My first homebrew purchase as a Jag owner, and needless to say I'm quite impressed. Great, fun, easy gameplay. Great graphics and great tunes as well. What a package. Might be the best game I've played on the Jag so far (I've tackled about 16-17 games). I'm loving it. I'm sure you could easily have this be a top seller on XBLA or PSN, but I'd love if it was just left to us Jag fans too Unfortunately I have a busy work week, but will be trying to play as much as I can. How is the online code input going to work?
  14. Ugh, jealous here. Most game stores like that are a bit pricey from what I hear though. Only one I've been to was in Minneapolis. Got a TG16 base console there for $100 before I knew a lot more about the market. We have one in our town here called Trademark Video Games. Tons and tons of NES and PS2 games, and a lot of other fairly mainstream stuff (Genesis, SNES, Dreamcast, PS1, Xbox, Wii, etc...) I asked if they had any TG stuff, he pulled out one CD. I didn't even bother to ask about Jaguar, 3DO, etc... nothing like that in there. Really the most "unique" item I've ever seen in there is an SMS console lol. Honestly, if I ran a game store, I'd try to stock some more unique consoles/games to at least facilitate interest among customers.
