Do they respond the same way no matter what port you put them in?

Heres a good source on repair info... http://www.atariguide.com/pdfs/Atari_2600_VCS_Domestic_Field_Service_Manual.pdf For some reason the schematics for ver 16 of the board (vader) is a dupelicate of ver 14/15...you shouldnt need it, but I can scan it from my print copy if you do.

Little light grain sand paper or some rubbing alchohol should clean up the corrision on the contacts. Can you post a pic of the screen?

Auction for Atari related Steve Jobs memo.

Apperently his co-workers at Atari thought so too. I feel more and more like the Woz after this. I too have had friends that everyone else hated. -
I ran across this news story today... might be old news for some, but thought Id post it for those who dont. http://www.pcmag.com/article2/0,2817,2404954,00.asp

Is Enduro the Best First-Person Racing Game?
Syntaxerror999 replied to Tin_Lunchbox's topic in Atari 2600
What is an ordament? Is that an ordained ornament? Yes, thats why its a cross... Atari couldn't make a good looking dashboard Jesus. -
Best: Pitfall - pioneered a genra that would become a video game staple. Worst: Tax Avoiders. Many games are crappy, but the graphics are so choppy its God awfull and practicaly unplayable.

Video Chess, the First Chess Video Game?
Syntaxerror999 replied to Tin_Lunchbox's topic in Atari 2600
2600 chess vs Int chess at the highest level would be interesting... but isnt their a flaw in VC where the computer is moving pieces around in simulation, decides to cancel its thinking and forgets where the pieces started and thus "cheats"? -
Wow I just noticed Activision games have no music
Syntaxerror999 replied to high voltage's topic in Atari 2600
James Rolfe said the same thing about super pitfall. Arrow poison frogs are deadly to the touch (or at least put you in a state of paralysis ) They get their name because natives would use their oils...secretions...whatever for hunting darts. -
A knock off of a knockoff... Theres irony for you.

An atari in a PC like case? Never seen it before. Is the hamster still alive on the wheel?

Can't find any information about my Pac-Man game
Syntaxerror999 replied to Wytze's topic in Atari 2600
There are a couple mods for the atari avalable. A composite mod (not sure if it will work with PAL or not). Thete is also a pause mod that basicly puts the processor in a repeating loop (more technical than that but thats the basic idea). Both require some soldering and can be purchased in the AA store. -
Do you mean the things that you plug in to the joystick ports that came with the test cart? If so, then no I don't I know the latter version needs them, but if your version does as well then thats your problem there. Where did you get your copy anyways?
-
6 is a joystick failure. Do you have the shorting plugs?

Perhaps the technique could be adapted for games that could save progress, high scores, etc

Control schemes: multiple actions with a single button
Syntaxerror999 replied to tokumaru's topic in Atari 2600 Programming
Genesis controler would give you an extra button. How about a keypad controler held sideways? -
Lol sorry... Up late and started to keyboard ramble

There's already a Stella port to Android here. By all accounts it's in very good shape (I haven't personally used it, since I don't have an Android device). Have that. Its ok... Better than just about every aos atari emulator ive tried, but not nearly as good as classic stella. Seriously pay no attention to the naysayers calling stella "buggy". Few emulators for any systems are 100%,but your definently closest to it as far as the atari is concerned. Id realy like to see a tutorial on practical use of the debugger. Anyone out there up to the challenge? Ps are you able to view your ASM source code in the debugger instead of raw opcodes and numonics?

Any details on programing the roms? According to the instructions it uses a 2nd chip programed with the bankswitching scheme. I recall someone on here talking about programing for bankswitching.. its a little above my head but he talked about how you skip writing certain memory adresses in the subsiquent 4k blocks and write them in the first block instead... or something like that. Can anyone elaborate/correct me on that (Im looking at you Groovebee . ) Would that be nessesary using this 2nd chip?
-
I was doing some research on rom requirements for the 2600 and found this company that offered pcbs for atari games. The docs said they are manufactured by atariage. I know AA offers cartrage making services, but I didnt see any mention of these boards. Is this the boards AA used to use, or currently are using? http://www.grandideastudio.com/portfolio/pixels-past/

No, i belive this was an intended easter egg and not a glitch. Think of it as game variation #0. Aside from ninja pitfall harry, i used to fry Adventure to move the barrier... interestingly enough if you move the barrier blocking the easter egg room you would go to the room below the blue maze instead of the easter egg room. And yes I tried going past the other barriers and nothing was beyond them.
