I just got an older atari flashback that has this installed and went looking for a pdf of the printed manual because I thought it was just another game I never could buy back in the 2600 heydays--HOLY COW THIS IS A FUN GAME THAT BRINGS IT ALL BACK 100%!!

Seriously, this game is the type of fun that made the 2600 a joy to own back in its heyday.  I could only imagine what type of endless fun we would have had if this game existed back then.  So glad it exists!

Anyways, I was just wondering what all the different 'games' were because I was looking for a 1 player mode with just a single square as that cheating computer always knows where the next square will be.  (Yes, the computer always cheats--it's always been that way in every computer game ever made--I swear! :DThat's why the player will lose, lol).

Anyways, thank you for the fun. :) I hope you got paid licensing fees for your work because it is very, very good work. :)

I covered this game in volume 3 of my book on page 44: https://www.amazon.com/dp/1676947175

Which look do you prefer?  The first is colored player graphics over a white playfield, the second is white player graphics over a black background for black cards, and over a red playfield for red cards.  The rounded (lol) corners of the cards let the red playfield peek through for red cards, but I don't think it looks too bad.

PS. I know the "club" graphic is awful.

I vote #1 ..... looks just like Blackjack Theta VIII background. And its the tradtional casino felt green too!

Yeah they need to remove the text from their site that says "COMING SOON as free download".  It gets rather annoying when people say they will release something and then a large amount of time passes and nothing happens.  I've seen it happen to many times enough for it to be annoying.

Not that I'm complaining.. just saying...

Probably will not be released until all 100 copies of Spaceman Splorf are sold at Packrat Video Games......

  5. It is with a sad heart, I would like to let all of the Atari community know that I just found out Ed Riley "winkdot" passed away last October. Ed was a programmer who created at least 7 known Atari 2600 homebrew games: Cows (2015), Alien Pinball (2015), The Deep (2015), Orb (2015), Doom Patrol (2015), Shark Jaws + (2018), and The Goons (2019). Ed helped me to cover two of his titles, The Deep (volume 2) and Doom Patrol (volume 3) for my book series. When I reached out to him for the title Orb, was when I found out about his death from his daughter, Lindsay.

As we never met in person, we had several conversations thru the AtariAge forums and on Facebook. He had plans in 2018 to come to the Houston Arcade Expo and attend my book signing there but, medical issues came up and he had to cancel.

In honor of Ed, I have made a dedication ROM pack of his games and a document contained within the pack with information about him. I know Ed would want as many people to be able to play his games as possible. May you get a perfect score playing your games in Heaven.

Maybe it's just me , but it seems the ROM page is down on the site ?

I think this has been discussed in another thread , and if so I am fine with this being moved there,

but I would like there to be an archive of Homebrew ROMs  available with the author's permission.   There are so many good games that have been developed that I am afraid might be forgotten or slip through the cracks , whether from homebrew pioneers from early 2000s or from current people on the scene like me .   There are many finished games that are maybe not quite up to Atari Age store standards but would be considered good enough to be on this list . Of course that presents the question of who judges this....

Now I know that some people ( Arenafoot  I think? ) maintain a database, but I think that most people looking for ROMS or Atari-curious people  probably come to AA as a first option.

This is pretty much the same reason why I started the "List" in 2013.

I remember there was a basic "GTA" demo someone put on here once and it was a car on a road overhead view following the driving format around all the different types of roads....... thats it nothing else but if that could be expanded on or started over, and incorporate what they did in Coleco FRONTLINE- remember when you hold the button long and the guy gets in or out of the tank?  if you could do that so you can be a guy and kill people on the street then hold the button and get in the car, this changing the color of the car perhaps when you are in it then it drive and you can run over cars and get points and find prizes or whatever. i mean from what ive observed from the new programming it would be possible to have some sort of this type of game VCS style I think

I thought I remembered playing it on the portable, but maybe not?  None of the versions I have can be controlled with the joystick on the portable. It acts like it's a paddle game, but doesn't know it's a paddle game (like any paddle game that's had the crc changed, like a hack of Kaboom for example and so not recognized as paddle), rather than detecting that it should use the joystick.

The original ROM and the first hack (Paddle Test) from Nukey Shay work on my AFP. The latest one that he made (challenge test 2) does not work. It does not have any controls.

I was a bit bored in lockdown and for a while I've been wanting to do something for my loose 2600 carts.

I decided to try some custom mini boxes just big enough for the carts. I wanted to include the key info you're missing without the manual.

The front is the original box artwork. One side has 1 or 2 Player icons. The other side has basic controls and the rear

has difficulty switches, game modes, tips etc.

Just wanted to throw them out there and see what people think

    Awesome creation!

The only thing is you will want to make a box for (almost) every title as most of us have ALOT of loose Atari VCS/2600 carts!!!! I know its like opening a can of worms, but it just wouldn't look right if only a few game titles had these boxes and other carts in our collections didn't.
