  1. What does that have to do with RETRO gaming? Unless you mean a new retro console? Sorry, you didn't specify RETRO gaming. I was going with Underball's "popularity in 2011" vibe.
  2. That's a teensy bit skewed, since atariage covers pretty much any game system, classic computer, emulator, and arcade game ever. At any rate, I'm a big fan of the NES and I've never really even heard of NintendoAge. I don't have an account there and likely will never sign up, because I don't have a need to find Nintendo fans online when they're all over the place outside of the internet. To The_Laird: If both Atari and Nintendo were to each release a new home console this year, which would sell more? And that's all I want to say about system popularity; I don't think popularity was the point of this thread.
  3. You sure about that? I think 1987 might have a liiittle bit to do with one of these systems' current popularity over the other.
  4. Yeah I'm not sure Kintaro-stomps were what our lord and saviour had in mind when he talked about humility
  5. Duh, haven't you guys seen the movie?
  6. A lot of Activision titles, of course... Keystone Kapers, Beamrider, and Frostbite all look great in my opinion.
  7. Moonsweeper's the only decent game in their entire collection.
  8. Glad I'm not the only Beamrider here...
  9. Yeah, food fight's pretty cool. Can you use two sticks on that, or is it always fire-where-you're-looking?
  10. Oh yeah... I never noticed any issues with any of my carts, so I forgot they tend to screw up colors & stuff. Good thing I don't care for Castlevania I guess.
  11. Or you can just replace the connector and stop complaining Bonus points if you disable the lockout chip. Or spend the same $15 on an NES clone Either way...
  12. Oh no, I know it's Underball that's all about space ships and race cars. I'd love to see gameplay from the NES with a different look & sound, too. I used to make NES hacks all the time & mess with palettes & sprites when I had the time, and the NES has some pretty bitchin' music in W&W, Ikari 2, MM2 that I don't think anybody would compare to a hello kitty music box. I guess I'd just rather have bright colors & upbeat music instead of no background art & no music.
  13. Mario, Zelda, Kickle, Ninja Gaiden, Nemo, Mega Man, Ninja Turtles, River City, Metroid, Little Samson, Bubble Bobble, Tetris, Balloon Fight, Contra, Ikari Warriors, Wizards & Warriors, Toki, Gauntlet? I need 'em all. I'm not the one confining myself to Atari's space shooters & racing games, after all. You can have all the NES (edit-Nintendo) ones. They all look (edit- and sound) like Underball described to me... Works for me. I could spend hours with River City Ransom's "too-big eyes" and you guys can have all those awesome 7800 beat'em ups.
  14. If you want to switch the conversation to toys, I'm saying you should make some time for Ghostbusters or Transformers or some board games in addition to your GI Joes.

  16. This x 1,000. NES games, in every aspect - music, graphics, characters, game plots - always came off as twee, and kidsy crap. (except for the occasional Arcade port) I mean they all felt like Sesame Street aged kids stuff. Games for 5 year olds. Mushrooms. Pastel vomit colors. ballerina music box music. Something my sister should be playing with. Everything looked all Hello Kitty compared to the space ships, shooters, and racing games of Atari. Seriously... how many variations of Pole Position and Galaxian do you really need? Widen your perspective a bit.
  17. Man, you want to pick up Ballblazer, Dig Dug, Mario Bros, and Robotron.
  18. Yeah the 7800's not so invincible when being shipped via USPS.
  19. Activision's labels are tops. What tard came up with the idea of putting text labels on carts that face away from you when in use?
  20. Yup yup. Luckily, it's easy enough to get a 5200 now.
  21. Nothing for me, but I gave my brother-in-law a video-modded 7800 and about thirty hand-picked 2600 & 7800 carts.
  22. Alright, so NES beats the 7800 in out-of-the-box sound capabilities.
