  1. I too would love to find another great sci-fi RPG. I simply cannot wait for Shadowrun Returns and Wasteland 2 to come out.
  2. I have the game, have been playing it a lot for a few days now, and I think it's frgging awesome. Very good reboot. It takes many of the cool elements that made games like Batman: Arkham Asylum and Far Cry 3 so much fun to play. It also has a big "metroidvania" vibe to it, since as you progress, so will your abilities through items you find and improve - allowing you to go back to previous areas and discover things you couldn't before. Yeah, she's less of a sex object too. They made her more "real", so, like Far Cry 3, she's more or less a "normal" person that's just put into a situation where she has to fight to survive. (As opposed to being Wonder Woman with dual pistols.) Do yourselves a favor and get it.
  3. The latest release as of this post is .92. In addition to being the best SNES emulator, it's now also the best NES, Game Boy, and Game Boy Color emu as well. It does support GBA, but he's still working on that core, and in future releases will add NDS support. http://byuu.org/higan/ Byuu is also working on a PS2 emulator, though no word on when that will be out, or what sort of machine you'll need to run it.
  4. I haven't been about for awhile, and figure I'll update this some. SNES/NES/GB/GBC - Higan. Higan is now what BSNES is called. Along with an already perfect SNES emulator, it also has pretty much prefect NES emulation as well, along with Game Boy and Game Boy Color. The GBA support is there, but the author Byuu has stated that he has further work to do on it, and isn't sure when that will be. Also in future versions will be DS support. http://byuu.org/higan/ Atari 8-Bit - Altirra. Works great, and is actively worked on. Beta/test builds can be found on EmuCR. http://virtualdub.org/altirra.html http://www.emucr.com/search/label/Altirra?&max-results=12 I have to go look and see what I put originally and see if I still use them, what's good, etc. I know stuff like WinUAE for the Amiga is still the best there, and WinVICE is the best for C64/128 machines. I'll have to clean this up...
  5. When using any sort of frontend for MAME, especially if you're using MAMEUI (very recommended), always make sure you audit all the roms first. This will tell you if any are bad, and will also add the good ones the list of available games. In MAMEUI it's File/Audit all games.
  6. I'm looking for an older PC. On ebay folks are asking ridiculous prices or are selling components for scrap, which is a friggin crime. I'm solid on wanting an Intel 486/66 DX2 processor, the rest is flexible. Even if it's just the mobo/proc/mem that's even workable, just so long as it works. Thanks
  7. There's loads of games in the "Wars" series actually - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wars_(series) I loved Advance Wars sooo much. And no, Battalion Wars was not turn based, but "sort of" felt like an RTS. The second one, for the Wii, is pretty fun.
  8. Yeah, I have to disagree as well on the best racer comment. My tops would be Forza 4, NFS - Porche Unleashed, Project Gotham Racing 2, and Rallisport Challenge, but , as you said, it's all opinion. My main curiosity here is how the OP plans to "screw them" if Criterion manages to "F**k this up". Now I actually hope Criterion does mess things up just to see the incoming screwing that's going to go down.
  9. I know this will get some to pull out pitchforks and torches, but I always felt that the box artwork (Usually Roger Dean) was way more innovative than the games that came in them. However, I will say that I really, really liked Drakan: Order of the Flame. Great looking open-world game, and you got to fly around on a dragon. Fun stuff.
  10. Ok, so, "Wasteland 2 raised almost $600,000 in 24 hours. It has 33 days to hit $900,000, a goal that seems well within reach. Developers like Schafer, Minecraft creator Markus "Notch" Persson, and Fallout 2 designer Chris Avellone have all publicly supported the project, posting about it on their Twitter feeds and asking fans to help donate." http://kotaku.com/wasteland/ Oh yeah.
  11. Even more news on this from Brian Fargos Twitter thingamabob- "In other Wasteland 2 news we have brought back another designer from Wasteland.. Mr. Ken St. Andre..also creator of Tunnels and Trolls." So that now makes all 4 of the designers from the original game making the new one. Awesome. Also, there's an official Wasteland 2 forum, where you can go and scream about what you want - http://wasteland.inxile-entertainment.com/
  12. Not sure where to get a burner that can do GD-R. The iso images that people are burning to a CDR are ripped. Warez groups would downsample music, movies, or sometimes even rip them out and repackage them to fit. As far as the not reading the CDR issue, there can be a few possibilities - - You have one of the DC models that have the CD unit that will not play CDRs. (They do exist, but are not as common.) - You got an image that needs a bootloader to start. (Lots of early images required this.)
  13. The actual size is probably less than half that once you sort out the dupes. Then cut it down by at least another half once you 7Zip it up.
  14. +1 for Chrono Warrior and Dino Eggs. Still though, check out Rescue Raiders. If you have 128k, Prince of Persia and Airheart are fun stuff too.
  15. I loved my //c. I wanted to get one, but they rarely seem to go on Ebay for less than 100 bucks. Good find for you though. Very awesome.
  16. AW YEAH!! I'd always sit and say to myself, "You know, the Apple 2 needs BbCKNZ2vUUzYCTKSMU6seNWrVjB2VrVQBOFTGA3kxiYTfcTSCC nQCXJQkmpEsao(cYVPgH2sdbAdKAWIbosW1yfoGV43ptvMmF)MHbCRmT)(2LTkSv GwM3xklaeSt0WJRgVhB7sAkVTjwJINXUKFGF5xknVfJg9lDYGqRgxYO7sCqoGtiF lbLDpTrHS2t2u9(WGdAUar3gppqUj. Somebody needs to make that happen!" I will sleep soundly tonight!
  17. Rescue Raiders. I'm pretty sure it only came out for the A2 until the remake, Armor Alley, hit the PC. Very awesome game. Also, Black Magic. The A2 had the best version, easily. Did Captain Goodnight come out for the C64? If not, get that too.
  18. More awesome news from Brian Fargos Twitter: "More good #Wasteland news! The original producer, programmer and designer Alan Pavlish has also joined the team." This just gets sweeter and sweeter....
  19. Was it 3D or 2D? Was it by any chance Albion? http://www.mobygames.com/game/albion
  20. Here's some excerpts from Brian Fargos twitter: Taxonomic @Taxonomic @BrianFargo as a fan of wasteland, and someone disappointed with the lack of turn based crpgs, I'd like to see a proper #wasteland2. Brian Fargo @BrianFargo @Taxonomic Here here... Nothing beats the tactics of a good ole turn based party game. Good news, it does sound like it's likely to be turn based.
  21. Yeah, that wasn't good. However, there is a reason for it being nothing like the original trilogy. When InXile initially got the rights for Bards Tale, all they managed to get was the right to use the name. All the property contained in the games - the lore, the names, places, etc, all remained the property of EA. (This may have changed, as InXile has recently began offering the original BT trilogy for iOS) Wasteland, on the other had, they got the rights to outright. This, combined with the fact that Fargo has recruited Stackpole as a designer, and has also stated that he wants it to be a "real, oldschool" sequel, keeps me optimistic that we won't get a repeat of what happened with the new Bards Tale game.
  22. Actually, yeah, it is. That is how the Apple II version sounds, no mockingboard or phazor. I played the hell out of the game (and loved it), and am pretty curious to see what the new one is like.
  23. Speaking of reboots, Brian Fargo wants to make Wasteland 2. http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/194311-brian-fargo-wants-to-make-wasteland-2/
  24. True story: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2012/02/16/brian-fargo-turning-to-kickstarter-for-wasteland-2/ http://kotaku.com/5885882/why-people-give-a-shit-about-a-1988-pc-role+playing-game https://twitter.com/#!/BrianFargo -- He wants the new game to be "oldschool" and feel like the original. -- He wants the game to basically pick up where Wasteland left off. -- Michael Stackpole, who worked on the original and the classic Bards Tale games has already agreed to be the lead designer. Boner achieved.
