  1. After looking at the photos, I was going to comment on the sweet Frankenstein's Monster with the box, but you already know :)

haha yeah it's a pretty sweet game too, definetely one of the better datage games.. the box is actually in the best condition compared to the other ones lol..

Btw..i dunno about the donkey kong ad..it says for "atari computer" but the graphics are far too good to be for a 2600 and donkey kong isn't on the opposite side like on the 800..but it does have the 4th level..so it makes no sense to me haha..

  2. i managed to find this on Ebay, Boxed light Sixer with a boxed a/c adapter (i think it was for another atari product but not completely sure)..along with boxed games (as shown in the pictures)..2 catalogues and an ad For Donkey Kong for the 800 and a 800 manual.. All for 45$ with shipping and everything, it may not seem very cheap but when you live in Canada, Shipping is a real pain! haha so, what you guys think of the deal? anyone else find any awsome deals this month?

Great find and a great price. I recently got a halloween w/manual and some commons off of Craigslist. It is the rare version that does not have the label (just a piece of tape w/the name) and the manual is in great shape.

That's awsome! I've been looking for Halloween for quite a while now, the only ones i find are quite expensive..but craigslist is terrible in canada so i never go on it lol..but yeah, after doing some research i found out that the boxed Frankenstein's monster is worth more than what i paid for the whole thing :P

  4. hey everyone, i wasn't really sure where to post this one because i didn't wanna disrupt the high score club forum.

I've been trying now for about an hour to beat the patch score for barnstorming (33.3 seconds) and i can't for the life of me beat it.. :( the highest i can get is 33.8. So forum, what's your best barnstorming score? i've noticed that on an emulator that you can get a better score so let me know whether you played it on the real thing, or an emulator. Happy Playing! :)

For Kicks, yesterday night i did the Laser Blast 100,000pt Challenge, I too like to do these just for fun. Laser Blast in general is a crazy easy for me i got to 150k+ and turned off because i got bored. once you get the pattern going its really simple. Anyway, Barnstorming isn't random. What you need to do is either map out or just remember the level. Once you remember it you'll get it every time. Most of the game of ole' are all about pattern recognition and memorization. I'll pop it in right now and see if i can get some tips for you, but i aleady told you the easiest way to get it: memorization. good luck

lol yeah, i've seemed to memorize it to my best ablility, but there's always that odd goose that tends to get in the way and i always end up hitting it :P

  6. Classic games:

    Kaboom!

    Dragonfire

    Circus Atari

    Homebrews:

    Lead

    Medieval Mayhem

Dragonfire isn't really that fast when it comes to reflexes, although it does get pretty tricky into the higher levels i suppose. i'd say overall, Dragster's got the fastest when it comes to the 2600. I still can't manage to get under 6 seconds :(

  7. 90% of all "untested" consoles I've bought needed at least some work to use. I buy them for spare parts so I don't mind much. Most of them can be made to work for $10 or less in parts.

yeah that's true, but im not very technical with stuff,,i don't know anything about wiring and saudering and stuff like that,, although i wish i was. then i could probably fix mine :P

  8. i don't own the 01 combat but i do own a combat cart that i haven't been able to find info on, its the basic letter combat cart but it doesn't have any TM logo's or any R's on it either like the other ones i got.. and also, the end label on it is pink instead of red. but not a age fading pink but more like an intentional pink. it also doesn't have a "made in taiwan" label either.. Might be just a simple variation but i can't find any info..

You may want to check here Combat

The Closest one i could find was the one right after the 01 end label, but mine doesn't have any tm's or R's whatsoever not even on the game program or the atari logo... Strange huh? :?:

  9. I think it's all circumstantial. Were they being sold with the original system box? How many games were included in the auction? What games were included? Any rare ones? What day and time did the auction end? How many pictures did the seller include in their auction? How well did the seller describe the items and did he/she list the games? Was Atari in the news this week?

I sell quite a few of these systems, as many of us do, and these are some of the key reasons why an auction will sell higher than another auctions. It also depends on how many 'new' collectors decided to go on ebay that week and buy an Atari. While I'd agree that Heavy Sixers are more in demand than other systems, that doesn't always translate into higher bids.

Here are some of my more recent auctions:

    Light Atari Sixer + 30 games - $52.00

    Light Sears Sixer + 40 games - $106.50

    4 Switch + Bobafett Shell + 40 Games $68.77

    Two Heavy Sixers + 44 games - $72.05

    Sears Heavy Sixer + 31 games - $50.23

    Vader + 32 games - $51.50

    BOXED 4 Switch + 31 games - $167.50

    Sears 6 Switch + 30 games - $40.99

So, as you can see, there is a ton of fluctuation and it's all based on numerous factors. In my opinion, it's more about the questions listed at the top of this response, than it is about the Atari model being sold.

Very Well said sir, i'll keep this stuff in mind when i buy and sell on ebay. From a buyers point of view.. what's something that you should look for when trying to get a good deal on an atari without getting scammed?

  10. it's definetely alot simpler than the original xD hardley any skill to it at all it seems :P

I think its a litte more complex than...walk,fall in hole, levitate, fall in hole, and repeat. All in all that simple Wario DIY versions seems more fun still.

    To OP: Thanks for sharing!

    lmao yeah you're right there

  11. This fellow on kijiji (i'm assuming kijiji is the canadian equivalent of craigs list) is going to sell me a mint atari 2600 jr with all the cords and stuff,, along with 4 controllers and 26 games and they all come with the manuals,, and a few atari catalogues..for 75$...the games aren't all that rare but theres a few 4's in there, that's about as high as it goes...so what do you guys think...good deal or a rip off?

  12. well,, the 2600 still technically works, it's not completely busted,, but when i plug it in with a cart, it usually makes really loud noises, kind of like beeping noises or sometimes a loud hiss, then it has bright colored lines on the screen (they usually change color when i reset the games)

  13. i don't own the 01 combat but i do own a combat cart that i haven't been able to find info on, its the basic letter combat cart but it doesn't have any TM logo's or any R's on it either like the other ones i got.. and also, the end label on it is pink instead of red. but not a age fading pink but more like an intentional pink. it also doesn't have a "made in taiwan" label either.. 14. this is kind of an odd question but it's just something i've noticed over the past few months. over the past while i've been looking around ebay looking for a good 2600 deal when i realized something in my search. It seems as though light sixers (mostly woodgrain version) tend to be quite a bit cheaper than the 4 switchers and obviously the heavy sixers. Is there a reason for this? i've always loved the six switcher more than the 4 switch but im just wondering if there's a reason why they're cheaper or if it's just a coincidence? :?:

I think it might be because the light sixers are a little bit older, Not as rare as heavy and tend to be a little more beat up then the 4 switchers. So it gets priced lower. The better condition of the console the higher the price is going to be. Other than that i think its just purely coincidence.

yeah, i've never really thought of that, i recentley bought a light sixer and it crashed out on me after a few weeks of play, still haven't figured out what happened or even what's wrong with it. but that might just be coincidence too lol.

  15. spider fighter: its chaos trying to avoid the stupid thing's bullets, its like they game machineguns... on the 2600.

yars' revenge: when the quotile starts its spinning on difficulty A, its kinda fast and i find that it requires some major twitching skillz

i was just about to say spider fighter has some insane speed, probably one of the fastest shooters on the 2600. But you beat me to it :P the adrenaline really starts going with that one ;)

  17. hey everyone! I'm new to atari collecting so this is my first post on this awsome site. I recentley bought an atari 2600 light sixer and i played it for a few days and it decided to bug out on me. It still seems to be working but the picture is really weird. it just makes a loud hissing type sound and displays bright colored lines. Anyway,, im not that technical so i can't fix it myself so i'm looking for a replacement console.. anything that'll play 2600 carts is ok with me. not looking to spend over 100$ on it though since it's all i can afford at the moment. So if you have a console you'd be willing to sell it'd be very appreciated. Also, im looking for a dragonfire cart, it's one of my all time favourites in the 2600 library and i can't seem to find a decentley priced one on ebay. So if you've got one lying around then give me a message. Thanks alot guys and expect more from me in the forums in the near Future! :) PS. If you think you might know what's wrong with my atari, i'll gladly post some pics on what it's doing.
