Turn your amplifier's presence and your compression's gain down and quit facing the amp with it turned up so high you moron. Everybody knows that!!! What the hell kind of an auction is this?

So, I need a translator program that allows the XE to process games via the 810 because it thinks that it is sending to an 800 which has a different OS that wont properly read XL/XE games. I could just get a better drive too, eh? Yeah.. I just picked up a DOA XF551 but if I could get that to work I would be in business. Otherwise, I need a translator or a newer drive like a 1050 or something.
-
I have recently picked up one that seems DOA. The LED comes on for 1 second, the mechanism jerks, and then it shuts off. Is there any hope for this drive?
-
Yeah, I know about those. I have a Mac but I am working on getting a PC for this very sort of thing. PSSSSST.. Anybody got a translator disk they want to write for me? Please?
-
Crap. This stinks. Tomahawk, The Great American Road Race, World Karate Chapionship, Seven Cities of Gold and a whole pile more. Thanks for the information. Anybody else have any comments?

Does anyone know why some of my disk games appear to not work on my 810 drive with my 130XE? I know that the disks may be shot but I am trying to rule out any other reasons like maybe the drive only handles games that are a certain size or something. Some games seem to only half load or the sprites go all crazy but are still partially controllable etc.. Are some drives capable of handling larger sized disks and conversley do some larger sized games not work on older disk drives like the 810?

Looks cool so far.. Reminds me of www.atari7800.com. I know alot of people here like that site site too.

I think that asking for a "money back guarantee" is pretty pompous if there is not already one attached. For the most part "Buy at your own risk and no remorse" is my motto with interenet purchases. Besides, I am not referring to any specific homebrew company when I admit out loud why I haven't picked up any homebrews as of yet.. even though there are only a few. Educating myself on the subject is the focus at the point. I can see why this would be a touchy subject for some but negativity is not what I am getting at here at all. This is all interesting stuff especially considering that is explains how all of this great hardware and software still exists some 26+ years later.
-
This is all very interesting indeed. Anyway it is presented to me, I still feel as though I would rather own homebrews that are going to last the longest if stored properly etc.. I can't say as I would be too impressed if after three years the game rots away. There MUST be some hard data on this somewhere.

I like how my post just magically starts saying something else after a while..

Does anyone else experience problems with carts not connecting on the first attempt on their 65XE or 130XE? I have carts that connect fine on the first attempt on some and not on others. They usually work after jiggling the cart or reseating the cart back in the slot a few times. Which model of 8 bit computer has the best cartridge slot, assuming this is the problem? Some carts possibly connect better than others because of their casing or whatever else.
-
I guess I was trying to find out what is the most durable vs. least durable and what I am going to get if I ever decide to pick up some homebrews.
-
Good answer. I wonder if anyone else is worried about this. I haven't bought any homebrews because of this needless and unfortunate paranoia. The subject is a tough one to research. Thanks for all of the information.

Uh, $5000 a chip. No thanks. EEPROMs, eh? I am assuming that this is because the chip is covered and less likely to be damaged.
-
I see. Hmm.. So, is there much difference between the two types of chips in terms of longevity or is this a misconception? I have heard that EPROMs only hold a charge for so long (like 15-20 years or so) and then they fizz out where as the masked ROMs don't do this as quickly. I know that from a collector's stand point I would prefer to invest in chips that would last the longest. How much are we talking for price per chip if they were made in small batches via the more expensive method? It may be worth the price. Why not buy a machine that mass produces these masked chips? If there is no difference - I am sold on either type. Maybe I am just being picky here but I feel as though this is somewhat relevant.
-
Why aren't home brewers making games that are put into permanent rom chips like the ones we all collect instead of burning them to erasable chips?? I find the fact that a game is on an erasable chip to be a major turn off when purchasing games that I don't have. I would buy them ALL if they were on massed produced rom chips because I feel they may last longer. Anybody?

This sounds cool if it is true. The Garbage Pail Kids rock!!

Didn't someone here ask HSW a while back if it was okay to repro this game and he said that he couldn't stop anyone from doing so? Someone should get this cart and sell us all a repro copy. It could help you pay for what you spend in winning the auction and then you get to keep the original.

Thanks. Now how do I switch back to the navigation screen from the sea to air screen without blowing anything up?
-
Could someone please be so kind as to inform me where I can find the instructions for this game (ie: a website). I don't think I am playing this game right and I feel the instructions would be most helpful at this point. Thanks in advance!!

What is the ponit of there being a 7800 trak ball? Wouldn't the other 2600 compatibile trak balls do the trick or what am I missing?
-
An old friend of mine gave me this title two weekends ago. I had never played it before so I was excited. What a discovery!! It was the first time I had sat down and played the same cart for over an hour in months. This a great game!! It needs an ending or something though.

Most XE carts are rather difficult to find!

If it's the Nerb.. I just picked up Millipede, Crossbow, and Thunderfox a couple of days ago. They should be here next week. I am looking forward to trying Millipede with the trak ball. I have picked up probably 12 carts, about 15 (or so) disk games, and an XF551 since the last time I traded with you. I am just waiting for some of it to still get here. -

Yeah, I'm hearing all kinds of negative stories about Canada Post these days. Anything cross border related seems to be intercepted and either tampered with or held onto for a long time. This NWO bologna really ticks me off sometimes!! Oh well. I am about half way to where I want to be for XL/XE carts. I can't say as I want to collect every one but there are a few "must have" titles still left to get. -

So what happens with airmail or whatever the supposed fastest way to ship is?
