My current post in the Emulation section follows a coversation consisting of people saying that they can connect an FDS to an NES but it was never stated whether it was a top loader or not. I have tried to use the FDS on a frontloader by popping the top off but it doesn't fit right and I don't think it is connecting properly. I am trying to determine whether I am doing something wrong or if I actually have to get one of those damn top loaders for this disk drive contraption to work properly. It is a pain in the arse to have this cool piece of hardware that you can't use so I am trying to find out if there are any tricks that I am not aware of to see if I can get it to work on my regular NES as opposed to getting a Famicom or a top loader.

I am now finding out now that this was a dumb question. I am going to go smash my FDS of the wall now. Thanks for your helpful answer sonny. If you are wanting me to post more entertaining topics, why not ask me what I think about internet cowardice.

Could someone please tell me how to get a FDS to work on a NES? I have read posts claiming that is can be done but I can't seem to get it to work. Thank you.

Yes. I have also recently discovered this game and had the same problem. This takes practice so don't expect to get it the first time. You must line your ship up so that you are flying directly toward the fuel plane and it is exactly centered on the radar. Slowly push the accelerator button in short bursts so that you don't fly past the plane. The radar screen will turn red and indicate that you are in position when you are directly below the plane and ready to re-fuel. Just wait for it and be at least 2 or 3 plane widths below the fuel plane. As soon as the hose comes out and touches you, the level is complete. Don't move. It is actually quite a precise maneuver. Good luck!! Let me know how far you get will ya??

Thank you...Yes. C300595 Rev A. I am not a soldering pro so I will be nervous doing this. Any tips?? I have a tiny tipped gun with a wick. It almost seems like I need a clamp or something when it comes time to pull the chip out so I don't smash the damn thing.

I have a Basketbrawl cart that has a few problems and I need some advice on how to get this cart working properly. Could one of the Atari gurus please help me?? Today I picked up a new 7800 at my local flea market and wanted to try a game or two. My Basketbrawl has never worked properly so I though that I would try it in my new machine with hopes that it would now start to work properly. Not a chance. I eventually get really pissed off and open that cart to see if maybe there is some damage. It actaully appears as though there may very well be some damage and this is where I need help. I will try to describe: -the 104AEC 25V resistor at point C1 directly to the right of the biggest ROM chip is partially smashed -the top right chip labelled GD74LS08-9021 has one of her pins sticking out (likely a manufacture defect) where it looks like instead of being in the hole, it is flat against the board and probably not making a good connection at point C3. Could this cause the game to not load up properly?? The problem is that the game is perfectly fine up to where you select the players etc.. after that, the screen locks up at the start of the brawl court scene and the sprites looks all garbled with the playfield being toally out of whack looking. It totally locks up and the game will not proceed beyond this. Could someone please give me some suggestions or offer a solution?? Thank you.

Historical question--the video game crash of '83
birdie3 replied to The Eidolon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I don't know if any one would agree with me here but I would say that the stock market crash of 1984 may have influenced the general North American publics' spending habits. There was a massive loss of money everywhere and less disposable income in general. Too add to earlier statements, I remember Dragon's Lair and really hating the fact that it cost 50 cents to play and when you played and it was hard to make a game last any more than 30 seconds or so. I think the fact that video games were becoming too expensive (ie: $40 for a new Atari 2600 cart) may have pissed people off also. Plus, the awe of the whole video game phenominon had passed and people were looking for a new fad. Computers were becoming quite advanced and people in general were more interested in the most advanced technologies and this is why the NES became popular. It was a step up from TIA. The Olympics were pretty interesting that year. Every person in every home had an Atari. Over saturation of the market blah blah blah blah ... -
I tried the frying trick and it worked. COOL I must say (-Ed Grimley)!! Too bad that we couldn't start at the later levels this way. Thanks for the tip.

Nice auction. Personally, I don't have anything newer than the original Game Boy. I just recently picked up a Rockman (looks kind of like Megaman - Japanese or something I guess) for the original Game Boy. By chance do you have any idea of it's rarity?? Either way, it's definately a difficult game to get good at.

I don't really beleave anything until I see it (cough) unless it transcends reality.
-
Is this really true?? I guess I should just check it, but if it IS true, this breathes life into a game that I had put down.

Please tell me that somebody is going to release a 7800 Rescule Fractilus ROM.
