I dont mean to sound like a dunce but could you explain that a bit for me. XEGS is all new to me, thank you.
-
I actually don't have any yet. I am now quite excited that I can play any 8 bit game on my XEGS. I have to start looking now. I also have something strange happening with my XEGS. When I turn it on I just get a red screen. Isn't Missle Command supposed to automatically turn on or something?

I now own a XEGS but have no carts to play yet. Could someone who knows more please tell me what carts are compatible with the XEGS? Thank you.

Famicom Disk System experts needed:
birdie3 replied to birdie3's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Great. Thanks for the tips. I have a cart adaptor and I have been looking for a cheap TL NES but have yet to find one. DevO: What site are you referring to exactly? -
I was given one of these along with a box of probably 30 games for the unit. The problem is, I don't any console to use this with. Through basic internet research, I have determined that most of the games are copies of the originals. If anyone who knows more about this stuff, could you please PM me. I am looking to find out what the best console would be to use this system on be it NES Top Load or Famicom or Tri-Star Super 8 etc... I would like to play theses games as they sit in a box most of the time and I would like to have the optimal set up for enjoying these games. Thanks in advance.

Solar Storm.

There is a guy on the net who tells you how to finish Solaris with maps and everything. He says that you need to reprogram the code so that you have infinite lives in order to finish. I like Solaris but I did not want to spend a decade trying to finish the damn game. That is why I like Radar Lock. You can play one game for 15 to 20 minutes if you are good and that's it. I just don't have that much of an attention span to last for a game like Solaris. Is there an end to Radar Lock?
-
Yes, they are similar. Whatever dude. I do agree that it seems like Atari's anwer to Sega's Afterburner. I thought that the dynamics of the visual imagery seems to be similar to the Solaris game. I was more trying to say that of the two games, Radar Lock seems a bit easier to play and I actually like that about this game. Does anyone have any tips for playing this game??
-
What a wicked game. I had been looking for it for a while and NEVER see it on ebay.ca. I found it on the weekend for $1.50 and I must say that I am hooked. Kinda like Solaris but not as impossible to finish. Does anybody agree with me or what?

Who likes the look of the Colecovision?
birdie3 replied to Mister VCS's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Hello CV fans. I thought that since everyone was here, I would ask a related but slightly off topic question. I personally love the look of the CV but everybody knows that it was a flawed design and there are a few problems people have had with the controllers and the static electricity problems with the controller ports. The latter mentioned problem results in the CV automatically starting a game on 2 players and diminished controller response due to the SN74LS541N chips attached to the controller ports being damaged by static electricity. I have researched this as best as I can and found that there are many solutions for these problems but hardly any testimonials as to whether they have worked for the people who have tried them. My question is: Has anyone tried replacing the SN74LS541N chips to remedy the automatic game select problem? Can anyone tell me whether they have performed the surgery and whether it was successful or a failure? -

Why do I get the feeling that he wants to win this auction....

I found DK 3 on a 110 in 1 multi-cart for the NES. I have never seen this game anywhere else. I just thought that this game was a Famicom game that was available in bootleg NES carts only. Multi carts sometimes have obscure games on them. I just found one the other day with a game called SASA on it. You are this space man with these jet pack thingies. The object is to fly into various objects and dismantle them before the time runs out. Fun game!!

COLECOVISION - Warning about using Atari 7800 controllers
birdie3 replied to birdie3's topic in Classic Console Discussion
*****UPDATE******* Everything appears to be fixed........ so far. I have had a chance to clean my joystick ports on my CV and this appears to have eliminated the problem. On the weekend, while thinking my CV was toast, I managed to pick up another console. This unit also has the same problem. I have yet to clean the ports on this unit however I am pretty sure this will solve the problem. If anyone knows something I don't here, please tell me. I suggest picking the controllers you like and LEAVING THEM PLUGGED IN PERMANENTLY to avoid this type of problem. BTW - This new CV this picked up is cool because is has an A/V mod. On a side note, after opening up a CV controller, I have determined that these controllers absolutely suck some serious dung. Some suggestions... if you can actually get the stick out of the face plate, try stretching the spring so that it pushes harder on the contacts. This appears to help the connections so you are not pushing as hard to make contact. Otherwise, Atari 7800 controllers work and a CV controller in port 2 for the keypad features will do just fine for 1 player games, or, the super action controllers are nice too. -
COLECOVISION - Warning about using Atari 7800 controllers
birdie3 replied to birdie3's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Lovely. I haven't checked yet but I would assume that what jsoper is saying is probably more like what really happened. If you know, could you tell me what would have happened by using a 7800 controller? I actually never used a 2600 controller. First I used a 7800 pro stick and then I used a 7800 joypad. At one point, I split a joypad and a video touch pad into a y splicer direct into one joystick port to see what would happen but this didnt affect it (it actially did NOT work anyway). The problem happened after I started using the 7800 controller in joystick port 1 and the touch pad in port 2. Everything was fine for a minute and then everything started going all funny and then I couldnt gett full response and the game just starts on 2 player at extreme difficulty levels. -
COLECOVISION - Warning about using Atari 7800 controllers
birdie3 replied to birdie3's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Are we talking the pins directly inside where the contoller connects or are we talking the pins/contacts where the port itself is soldered onto the mother board of the CV? The reason I ask is that I inspected the unit quite heavily last night and it did not appear that the pins were bent. Does this mean that they are just dirty or did I fry something within the circuit internally or what?? Man, I HOPE THIS WORKS!!!!!!!!! -
*****WARNING - BE LEARY OF ATARI CONTROLLERS FOR THE CV***** bought a CV on the weekend and she worked fine until last night when I tried something I read here in the forums. First, I tried a 7800 pro stick with a y cable and a star raiders controller into joystick port 1 on the CV and... it didnt work. I kinda figured. Next I tried the keypad in port 2 and a 7800 pro stick in port 1 and voila... it worked so damn good. Then, as time progressed, I thought that I would try a joypad because I like the feel of them. This is where the problems start. After this test, I noticed that the joystick response was almost completely gone. I tried every possible (5 of them) 7800 joystick I had to see if the stick was the problem. Now everytime I turn the CV on, all games will automatically start on 2 player mode without any chance for me to select anything on my keypad. Almost as if a button is stuck but it is an internal problem. The CV also does this without any controller plugged in. I could not sleep I was so frustrated. What the heck has happened? Does anyone know how to fix this??
-
Yes.... I have been reading up on rarity lists, ebay, fan sites etc.. The CV does seem to be pretty amazing. It was VERY popular where I am from and I do remember playing the system as a kid. Most of the games you guys have mentioned are ones that I would get if I could find them. My best bet is to pick up a nice sized lot from ebay (so it seems).

Mock - I have both of those items and I would like to try that but I am a bit lost as to how to get these games running on the DC. Do I just download, burn the roms, and start playing or do I need an emulator or what?? Help me... please.
