*****UPDATE*******
Everything appears to be fixed........ so far.
I have had a chance to clean my joystick ports on my CV and this appears to have eliminated the problem. On the weekend, while thinking my CV was toast, I managed to pick up another console. This unit also has the same problem. I have yet to clean the ports on this unit however I am pretty sure this will solve the problem. If anyone knows something I don't here, please tell me. I suggest picking the controllers you like and LEAVING THEM PLUGGED IN PERMANENTLY to avoid this type of problem. BTW - This new CV this picked up is cool because is has an A/V mod.
On a side note, after opening up a CV controller, I have determined that these controllers absolutely suck some serious dung. Some suggestions... if you can actually get the stick out of the face plate, try stretching the spring so that it pushes harder on the contacts. This appears to help the connections so you are not pushing as hard to make contact. Otherwise, Atari 7800 controllers work and a CV controller in port 2 for the keypad features will do just fine for 1 player games, or, the super action controllers are nice too.

Lovely. I haven't checked yet but I would assume that what jsoper is saying is probably more like what really happened. If you know, could you tell me what would have happened by using a 7800 controller? I actually never used a 2600 controller. First I used a 7800 pro stick and then I used a 7800 joypad. At one point, I split a joypad and a video touch pad into a y splicer direct into one joystick port to see what would happen but this didnt affect it (it actially did NOT work anyway). The problem happened after I started using the 7800 controller in joystick port 1 and the touch pad in port 2. Everything was fine for a minute and then everything started going all funny and then I couldnt gett full response and the game just starts on 2 player at extreme difficulty levels.

Are we talking the pins directly inside where the contoller connects or are we talking the pins/contacts where the port itself is soldered onto the mother board of the CV? The reason I ask is that I inspected the unit quite heavily last night and it did not appear that the pins were bent. Does this mean that they are just dirty or did I fry something within the circuit internally or what?? Man, I HOPE THIS WORKS!!!!!!!!!

*****WARNING - BE LEARY OF ATARI CONTROLLERS FOR THE CV*****
bought a CV on the weekend and she worked fine until last night when I tried something I read here in the forums. First, I tried a 7800 pro stick with a y cable and a star raiders controller into joystick port 1 on the CV and... it didnt work. I kinda figured. Next I tried the keypad in port 2 and a 7800 pro stick in port 1 and voila... it worked so damn good. Then, as time progressed, I thought that I would try a joypad because I like the feel of them. This is where the problems start. After this test, I noticed that the joystick response was almost completely gone. I tried every possible (5 of them) 7800 joystick I had to see if the stick was the problem.
Now everytime I turn the CV on, all games will automatically start on 2 player mode without any chance for me to select anything on my keypad. Almost as if a button is stuck but it is an internal problem. The CV also does this without any controller plugged in. I could not sleep I was so frustrated. What the heck has happened? Does anyone know how to fix this??

Yes.... I have been reading up on rarity lists, ebay, fan sites etc.. The CV does seem to be pretty amazing. It was VERY popular where I am from and I do remember playing the system as a kid. Most of the games you guys have mentioned are ones that I would get if I could find them. My best bet is to pick up a nice sized lot from ebay (so it seems).

Mock - I have both of those items and I would like to try that but I am a bit lost as to how to get these games running on the DC. Do I just download, burn the roms, and start playing or do I need an emulator or what?? Help me... please.

I found a Colecovision and 20 games on the weekend. I really wanted one so I bought it and I am glad for doing so. This system rocks hard!! Now, I am looking to get some of the better Colecovision games and it appears to rather difficult compared to Atari or NES. Can someone shed some light on this subject for me in terms of what I am up against with getting a good collection started??

Nice, I had my on on those but I am at work so I could never win.

I had someone give me a DC over the weekend. Seriously!!! I have been looking for places online to burn games from but I am coming up short for alot of the titles that I would like. Can someone help me with where I can go to download good DC games?? I know that this is illegal but somebody has got to know something. It all seems quite ellusive so far.

I just drop the bin in and a way she goes. I am assuming this is some type of save file reference TJ? I am an idiot.

I noticed that the Hulk isn't grey in the commercials. What gives?

500!
in Atari 2600
Congrats!! That seems like a bit much but I totally understand the obsession so keep it up man. I can hear the jellous people cursing you in the background. I am actually considering trading or selling the crap carts that I never play. I figure that if I can get a few of the titles I am looking for - the crap that I never use will take up less space in my game holders. Let's face it, in the bulk of the 500 games that exist, some of those games are just plain not fun. Emulation definately makes up for what is too expensive to buy.

Personally, after reading a minimal amount of the information available on this topic, I must say that I think that this PSX is an even bigger piece of shiza than its predecesors. I liked the original Play Station and that's about it. What kind of an "average consumer" is going to buy this?? Rich kids who's parent just buy whatever the hell they want whether it is useful or not?? What the hell is the demographic they are trying to market this to?? Maybe Japan demands this but I seriously can not think of one person who would even consider getting this. Whimzical I say, WHIMZICAL!!!! This PSX is bloody retarded. It has to be a decoy or something...

Nintendo Family Computer System. The Japanese NES from the early eighties. Poplular in Japan while the NES had yet to exist in USA. Same ssystem, just older.

I am not jellous at all, seriously, but... I think that that is a bit much my friend.
-
I am definately following along!!! This is what alot of us have been waiting for I am sure. Please continue.
-
Nice score for sure!! I personally need an NES top loader so I can use my Famicom Disk System and 30 odd untested games that just sits there waiting to be used. ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!

Has anyone here been able to play Master Builder for more than 2 or three minutes? I mention this because no one else has said that they like this game. I find this game difficult.

Right. And now back to our show ladies and gentlemen. So, with it now being announced that Infograms has morphed into Atari Inc., what are some predictions as to what will happen in the seemingly mass production type of market that we have been witnessing with the likes of the PS2 and XBOX?
Will we see a continued technological warfare between the companies who are selling their souls to "entertain" us with their supposed fun machines? Have video games become as good as they are going to get in terms of graphics and the ultimate gaming experience? Will the video game market crash again like in the mid-eighties because of there being too many overpriced, gimicky, and way too complicated types of games? Will it take someone like the new Atari to finally destroy the worlds' perception of video games and cause a backlash where people begin to appreciate the games of yesterday and look for where it all started because what is happening today is too commercial and narcisistic? Is Atari just going to ride the wave and likely not delve into the console market so to concentrate on selling the best damn PS2 and XBOX games ever made? Do the people who dare to wear the Atari name owe the fans of yesteryear something that is going to win the hearts of those nostalgically lacking thirty- somethings? Where is all of this leading us?

I found DK 3 on a 110 in 1 multi-cart for the NES. I have never seen this game anywhere else. I just thought that this game was a Famicom game that was available in bootleg NES carts only. Multi carts sometimes have obscure games on them. I just found one the other day with a game called SASA on it. You are this space man with these jet pack thingies. The object is to fly into various objects and dismantle them before the time runs out. Fun game!!
