  1. I found a Colecovision and 20 games on the weekend. I really wanted one so I bought it and I am glad for doing so. This system rocks hard!! Now, I am looking to get some of the better Colecovision games and it appears to rather difficult compared to Atari or NES. Can someone shed some light on this subject for me in terms of what I am up against with getting a good collection started??
  2. Nice, I had my on on those but I am at work so I could never win.
  3. I had someone give me a DC over the weekend. Seriously!!! I have been looking for places online to burn games from but I am coming up short for alot of the titles that I would like. Can someone help me with where I can go to download good DC games?? I know that this is illegal but somebody has got to know something. It all seems quite ellusive so far.
  4. I just drop the bin in and a way she goes. I am assuming this is some type of save file reference TJ? I am an idiot.
  5. I noticed that the Hulk isn't grey in the commercials. What gives?

    500!

Congrats!! That seems like a bit much but I totally understand the obsession so keep it up man. I can hear the jellous people cursing you in the background. I am actually considering trading or selling the crap carts that I never play. I figure that if I can get a few of the titles I am looking for - the crap that I never use will take up less space in my game holders. Let's face it, in the bulk of the 500 games that exist, some of those games are just plain not fun. Emulation definately makes up for what is too expensive to buy.
  7. Personally, after reading a minimal amount of the information available on this topic, I must say that I think that this PSX is an even bigger piece of shiza than its predecesors. I liked the original Play Station and that's about it. What kind of an "average consumer" is going to buy this?? Rich kids who's parent just buy whatever the hell they want whether it is useful or not?? What the hell is the demographic they are trying to market this to?? Maybe Japan demands this but I seriously can not think of one person who would even consider getting this. Whimzical I say, WHIMZICAL!!!! This PSX is bloody retarded. It has to be a decoy or something...
  8. Nintendo Family Computer System. The Japanese NES from the early eighties. Poplular in Japan while the NES had yet to exist in USA. Same ssystem, just older.
  9. I am not jellous at all, seriously, but... I think that that is a bit much my friend.
  10. I am definately following along!!! This is what alot of us have been waiting for I am sure. Please continue.
  11. Nice score for sure!! I personally need an NES top loader so I can use my Famicom Disk System and 30 odd untested games that just sits there waiting to be used. ARRRRGGGHHHHH!!!!
  12. Has anyone here been able to play Master Builder for more than 2 or three minutes? I mention this because no one else has said that they like this game. I find this game difficult.
  13. Right. And now back to our show ladies and gentlemen. So, with it now being announced that Infograms has morphed into Atari Inc., what are some predictions as to what will happen in the seemingly mass production type of market that we have been witnessing with the likes of the PS2 and XBOX? Will we see a continued technological warfare between the companies who are selling their souls to "entertain" us with their supposed fun machines? Have video games become as good as they are going to get in terms of graphics and the ultimate gaming experience? Will the video game market crash again like in the mid-eighties because of there being too many overpriced, gimicky, and way too complicated types of games? Will it take someone like the new Atari to finally destroy the worlds' perception of video games and cause a backlash where people begin to appreciate the games of yesterday and look for where it all started because what is happening today is too commercial and narcisistic? Is Atari just going to ride the wave and likely not delve into the console market so to concentrate on selling the best damn PS2 and XBOX games ever made? Do the people who dare to wear the Atari name owe the fans of yesteryear something that is going to win the hearts of those nostalgically lacking thirty- somethings? Where is all of this leading us?
  14. Its been a very long time. I watched Dr Who in the late 70's on TVO here in Canada. The funny part is, I was VERY young but fondly remember Dr Who for what ever reason. My dad liked the show and the theme song is imortal. I remember episodes with a poseur looking R2D2 with horns sticking out of its head speaking distorted heavy English and funny looking brillo pad monsters etc... and Tom Baker was extremely ecentric. I remember an older grey haired Dr Who but he wasnt as entertaining as the original one. I remeber we then used to watch another British show called "Dont Ask Me" where they taked about where snot came from and strange stuff like that. Where can I watch episodes of this shownow (Dr Who)?? Is this show in rotation anywhere?? The Space channel here in Canada should play this show.
  15. Okay. Now I need to ask.. what the hell was Dr. Who always offering people from that little paper bag?
  16. Isn't that the time travelling phone booth from Dr. Who?? What the hell?? Can someone please tell me what has happened to Dr. Who??
  17. Lets all hope that the kids over at Infogrames read these posts from the somewhat hardcore Atari purists.... I would hope that the capital raised from "The Matrix Reloaded" game will set the ball in motion for -ahem- Atari to now right the wrongs so to speak that were made in the past that eventually led to their demise. It would be a beautiful thing to see if -ahem- the latest incarnation of Atari will offer us a minimalist type of retro 8-bit type of console that would hopefully bring the world back to where Atari left us back in 1984. It is totally obvious that this was the archetypal design that ALL video games still to this day aspire to be. The technology HAS peaked and it is now time to return to the more simplistic "games should be easily learned and difficult to master" approach. It would seem obvious that the folks at Infogrames would know that this is blasphemous but only time will tell.
  18. Where is the bush that has no shadow?? Also, at this point in the game, how far along am I? BTW - I just got this game and I must say that it is quite good so far.
  19. Summer Games NIB Pifall Mint Grand Prix Mint $9-CDN I needed Summer Games and grabbed the rest for bait.
  20. I feel like I have to admit that I am a poseur or something here. There really will never be anything like the originals. That IS my point (I think). I really don't delve into the new games too much. Too expensive. Call me ignorant if you wish. It is definately by choice. I used to hate video games. My friends would all sit there for hours and just get fat as they improved their hand eye coordination while I peferred other things. Then I found an old VCS at Value Village last summer..... I started collecting the old stuff for nostalgia purposes and also because I want my 5 year old son to appreciate the history of video games. This has become a good way for us to bond. The old games didn't have much to work with so they had to be exceptionally fun to play (as opposed to 200 seperately moving sprites with extreme realism and no flicker sacraficing fundamentalism fun and $100 million advertising budget). This minimalism works to our advantage. You could say that I am deliberately trying to repeat history for him so that he can have as much fun as I did when I was growing, if not more. He loves Atari and I suppose he could have a PS2 if he could conceive of it but I want him to avoid the commericalism of the state of video games today. To him.. the story of Jack Trameil, Coleco, and Nintendo are useless. He likes games that are fun. Remember the old Atari 2600 boxes with the pictures of the kids sitting there with their parents playing games as a family?? It seemed as though they were trying to say that it was meant to be a family experience. The games were intended to be family oriented with less emphasis on hedonism. Video games just don't seem to be like that now. The significance of what happened to Atari and the overall commercialism in video games now becomes more rellevant. A family oriented concept suffers major permanent setbacks because it cannot commercially compete. This is why I ask "where are these types of game makers today?"
  21. I think they go by the sticker on the front that states what the item is and it's value. If it is over a certain amount and it says "merchandise" then they deliver it to your door and charge you the delivery plus the GST and PST. If the sticker says "gift" then usually we have no problems no matter what the size, weight etc.. BTW... Sly man!! You're the guy that found the Waterworld for $1.00. Don't tell me that you are a Canadian. Are you in Ontario?? (EDIT immidiately followed birdman reading more posts) Not EVERY Canadian opposes the situation in Iraq. Some of us are just as bloody English as the Windsors and were quite ashamed of what our french Prime Minister had decided. Let's not forget that the media can be one's worst enemy at times and the Canadian civilian support for stabilization of Iraq was barely covered likely due to it's lack of charisma. There are tonnes of Canadians who come from a different part of Canada that feel the same way if not more enthused about what is happening. Just because an elected government makes a decision doesn't mean that the society as a whole agrees. I am sure that America can draw a few parallels. I know a few soldiers who would have loved to had been there. I am sure that the right people in the US government already knew that there is lots of community support for the US troops here in various divisions of the real Canada.
