  1. Wasn't the Atari 2600 a drug inspired invention?? Weren't all of the employees a bunch of stoner electronics majors?? Didn't Atari have a "Get high" policy?? Come on kids, this is a druggie device for sure. Let's be honest here. Atari and hash brownies go hand in hand.

  2. Thank you for getting back to me with the info. I was pretty much in tune with all of the basics and reading over them again one more time seems to have refreshed my memory. I have tried to use Stella for the Mac but I apparently need Carbon Lib 1.2 (what ever that means) or greater as well as Mac OS 10. I guess I will have to upgrade. Downloading carbon Lib 1.2 will take half the night so I don't know if this is worth it anymore. Maybe I will just stick to emulation on my Windows based comp. at work. Damn Macs!! My wife bought it for Photoshop and really folks, that is about all it is good for. I need to upgrade. If anyone else has more ideas or suggestions, I would definately appreciate it.

  3. Hello curious reader,

I have been coming to this site for a while now and I feel that I am now ready to dabble with emulation. Unfortunately I only have 56K modem speed at this point however I am eager to get playing the games that I don't personally own. I have to be honest. I need serious help with this. Could someone be so kind as to tell me where and what I need to do to get this Atari 2600 emulation happening on my G3?? I have tried to do this before and I was seriously lost within the first 5 minutes. Thank you in advance.

  5. Zeus,

Sorry I did not get back to you so soon. I have been busy with work. I am up for trades and sales if ever you want. PM me what you are looking for. I collect Atari 2600, 7800, NES, and SMS. That goes for anyone else in the area of Eastern Ontario. I look forward to hearing from you all. Thanks!!

  6. Hello,

I am in Kingston Ontario. It is so dry here for games it's not even funny. I have been to Ottawa several times to find games but no such luck. Did you go to the Kanata Flea Market or what?? I am just curious because I havent been having much luck lately.

  7. I have items shipped from the US to Canada quite often and I know for a fact that this is an inflated charge. I would hate to have to see any animosity directed at Canadians in general who for the most part are great folks to deal with. On behalf of Canada, I appologize. That seller obviously wasnt paying attention. I know this is obvious but I would suggest to never agree to a purchase unless you know all of the terms. By the way, I am not the seller. I AM worried that this would cause people to hate Canada so I hope that we can just see this as an individual who has low selling ethics.

  8. Update:

I just cleaned the cart slot and still the same problem. Earlier I said that it is not the voltage regulator. Could this type of problem be caused by the voltage regulator?? Obviously I could just go get a new console but I would prefer to attempt to fix this one first. I assume this could be a million things, right? I also attached the switch board from another sixer I have to see if it could be something on that part of the circuit but still the same problem. I know that a definate video image of some type is a good sign but could the amount of power running through everything cause alot of the carts to not work or make the screen black?? I am now officially obsessed with getting this fixed. Thanks again.

  9. Thanks for the quick response. I own 200 some odd Atari carts and as far as cleanliness goes, I know that they ALL work in my 6 other 2600 and 7800 consoles. I am not certain that dirt is a factor unless it is possible that the connector pins inside the cartridge port need cleaning. This pesky console had been working fine up until a month ago. One day, out of the blue, the black screen started happening. Im wondering.... I tested a few power supplies of unknown voltage (that susbsequently didnt power up the console) in this console just prior to this black screen phenomanon. Would this fry the innards of my woody?? I know that the voltage regulator is fine for sure. It seems more like dirty connectors like you say. Any cleaning tips or other possible guesses at the cause of the black screen?? Thanks again.

  10. Okay okay. Here is the latest on the status of my console. In reference to what has been suggested:

I have resocketed the chips. This has resulted in restored video images. Now, the image is distorted. Everything is clear with no RF or fuzziness problems. Some games will show an image and some will still show a black screen. This seems to only happen to the newer games. I tried Asteroids and this game shows the title screen but the text is all garbled and I cant get past that screen to start the game. I tried Bowling and the game plays okay but it looks like the bowler sprite is a chineese symbol or something and the colors are all different. I know that this is considerable progress but I am not quite where I want to be yet with this repair. Is it possible that I simply need to replace a certain chip?? Any repair tips from anyone would be greatly appreciated. Thanks again.

  11. That isnt duck turd flying at you so dont worry about getting poop on your hat. Its actually a seed being dropped to help you grow your garden back. I just got this game and I had to read the intructions because I kept dying after about 30 seconds. What a cool game. Does anybody else like this game or am I just a gimp??

  12. Hello,

I have been having the same problem and I suspect that it stems from something similar. If anyone could offer some help, I would appreciate it. My 6 switcher was fine up until a week ago or so. I started having the same problem: a black screen. I havent checked heat levels from the chips yet but I am aware of some specific symptoms that may help explain what the problem is.

ie: the screen will show the normal red and grey vertical lines when I turn the console on without a cart inserted

Can anybody give me any clues as to what needs to be replaced??

  13. I think I already know the answer but, could anyone kindly tell me if one could also effectively use the Atari Track and Field controller to play this game?? I read the manual for both games and it appears that the same joystck actions are required to manuever the sprites so I am assuming that this will work but can anyone confirm this for me?? Thank you.
