  1. I may just be some poseur Atari collector from Canada but I must simply say that Cupcakus's shot is the funniest thing I have seen in quite some time.
  2. The SMS version of this game rules!!!
  3. I have two joypads which I received from best-electrioncs-ca.com about a month ago. They really are the "best". I paid $15 (US) a piece for them, which actually turns out to be a good price considering everywhere I checked. Best also sells a SEGA cable converter so you can use all of your SEGA controllerson the 7800. I'd get that if you want something to allow you to use the SMS gun.
  4. I guess that it is fairly safe to assume that nobody here knows what I am talking about or can tell me what the problem is. Thanks anyway.
  5. Ok. I thought I had this problem solved but its back. Everything is fine for a while, the games play fine for a few weeks and then I put in a game that I havent played for a while (2600 Alien) and bang - unstable video with rolling images and perfect audio with every cart (2600 or 7800). This has happened a few times now. Eventually the 7800 will just start to work again with no adjustments or anything. Totally baffling. I am wondering if I need to clean the contacts inside the console. I have opened the unit up before just out of curiosity, but I must say, I dont really know what to do or even worse, where to start with fixing my machine. I need some serious help. This is really starting to tick me off. Does anybody know if my machine is faulty or what??
  6. I have been looking for this game on any system and I cant seem to find it. I would love to see somebody make "Timber" into a 2600 game. Please tell me somebody remembers this one....?
  7. This is helpful.... I had never thought of International versions that were programmed in NTSC. I have viewd the DP guide and I notice there are alot of doubles there (ie: label and company repeats etc...). You could say that I was too lazy to go through the list and cross out what I have and count the remainder. I am curious because I rely mainly on wild finds. I started out my 2600/7800 collection just in the past few months and would say that I have done fairly well so far. Mainly commons to start, however, I am getting to where I have learned more about what was released and I am having a harder time finding some of the titles in the wild. Like most collectors, I also want some of the harder titles to find. I don't like ebay and I have faith that I will eventually find most of what I am looking for in the wild. The emulators are confusing and I don't have the patience to screw around with that-maybe I am missing something but they don't seem user friendely. I have a MacOS 8.6 G3. I guess I am just trying to get a feel for what I am realistically up against as far as wild finds are concerned. I have found a few stores in Ontario that sell Atari games but they are greedy and sell for way too much.
  8. Attack of The Beefsteak Tomatoes. Down right silly I say!!
  9. Does anybody know how many unique NTSC titles there were for the 2600 (excluding label variations and company variations etc..)?? I want to know where I sit as far as how many more games I need until I can say that I have MOST of the 2600 games. Thanks.
  10. Try best-electronics-ca.com. They have alot of obscure parts for Atari.
  11. Hello. I am new to the trading scene here so I am just going to test the waters and see what happens. I have a few games that I am considering trading and want to see if any one might be interested: Master Builder Atari 2600 Busy Police Atari 2600 Earth Attack Atari 2600 Micro Machines NES The Fantastic Adventures of Dizzy NES Big Nose The Caveman NES I am looking for Atari 7800 games and harder to find 2600 games as well. More specifically: BMX Airmaster Atari 2600 Spy Hunter Atari 2600 Tapper Atari 2600 River Raid II Atari 2600 Pitfall II Atari 2600 Secret Quest Atari 2600 H.E.R.O. Atari 2600 Commando Atari 7800 Xenophobe Atari 7800 Midnight Mutants Atari 7800 Basketbrawl Atari 7800 Impossible Mission Atari 7800 Let me know if I have anything you need. Thanks alot!!!
  12. Problem solved. My modded power supply works fine. The problem seems to be that some carts botch the initial start up of the console, so, I try a few different carts and voila, it works. I cant wait to get my joypads from Best. Yehaw!!!!
  13. Does anybody have some information regarding doing business with this company?? They seem quite good not only for accessories but also for hard to find games as well.
  14. Release the ROM and let somebody else finish it and/or keep the protoype for yourself or pull a Cubicolor type of limited release. Thanks for the honesty Rob. Man, it's all good...
  15. I am nobody special to most of you here but I just thought that I would add a bit more to this thread. Cybpunks is exactly right in saying that a finished product effort/Rob Fullop designed game is a HUGE selling point and although it may be something that requires effort, it will be something that we as fans would totally appreciate far greater than having to buy an unfinished game. You may also choose to just complete this game by yourself and not bother with help from another programmer to avoid hassles like the one we have witnessed in other recent topics. I tried to say earlier that the average collector like myself doesn't care about unfinished games or prototypes. There are also many who do. I know for a fact that if I saw a BRAND NEW Atari game cartridge released in 2002/2003 on a shelf in Toys-R-Us, I would buy one for sure and so would everyone else that still has an Atari sitting in their basements. There is a huge retro gaming market right now. ("DUH!!" says the self-proclaimed Atari community). The flea markets are the ones making a killing off of all of this. We like fun, playable, good games that were meant to be played. Why make this a political event?? The guy has a game that he wants to have appreciated. He wants to know what we the fans want. There are alot of people who would prefer to own collector's items as opposed to owning a fun game to play. What is your preferable goal Rob?? Will you realease a cool finished game that is ultimately what most people want or will you leave it the way it is and make a smaller group of hardcore fans happy for a little while?? Hey Rob. Is this even a good game?? Will we enjoy this game?? Based on what else you have given us, we automatically assume this one is good too.
  16. Hello Rob. I am just a simple Atari collector who is not too interested in getting first copies of this or prototypes of that. My five year old son and I, well, we just like to play fun games and we couldn't be bothered with spazzing out over old games that are hard to find. If this is a good game, we want it- and we probably wouldn't EVER own it if you make it hard for me to get. Atari Age makes it easy for folks to find good, new games for the 2600. My son and I like this alot. I have turned him on to Atari first so that he doesn' t get a taste fot the violent, over-priced, gimicky games of today. We would buy it for say... $15 if there were good reviews and the game looked nice. Also, if the game in your opinon is not finished and you don't want to finish the product and make it marketable, why not consider finishing the game and putting a smile on my son's face by putting out a quality game that was designed to be enjoyed?? I am trying to give you an honest and accurate appreciation for what the average Atari fan thinks. I hope this helps.
  17. I seem to be having the same problem (or perhaps something similar). Some one suggested that I may need to tune my RF. What does this mean???
  18. I knew that the FAQ was right. I guess it's hard not to convey sarcasm on chat boards and I am sorry. I need to be educated on this subject as much as possible. Crossbow, please help me if you dont mind. How do I tune my RF on my 7800 if I still have this problem?? I was sure that what I in fact was experiencing was RF interference but I needed somebody to confirm that for me. I really hope I can get this console working because they are quite scarce where I am. Thanks!!
  19. AHA!!!!! So, the 7800 actually NEEDS 1000 ma?? You see, the FAQ says that the 2600 adaptor works with the afforementioned modification (cordless phone battery connector to 2600 adaptor) so I thought that 800 ma would be okay because I assumed that all the 7800 needs is 500ma. This is not so. It NEEDS 1000ma?? Yes!!! That's it. Hopefully...... I am just going to buy new ones. This mod stuff is silly. I still have a 2600 I can play until it gets here next week right?? Yeah, that's the ticket.
  20. I think that the modded power supply is causing the problem. I will have no way to tell until I have some thing to compare it to so I am calling Best Electronics on Monday and ordering two 7800 power supplies. I could be totally wrong. Maybe the unit is dirty or (heaven forbid) faulty. The cart works fine in my 2600 so that is not the problem. The specs for the adaptor are 9v 800 Ma. This supply works fine in my 2600 and that FAQ says that the 2600 power supply works fine with the 7800 so I assumed that this one would too. The units only draw the power they need right?? ARRRRRGGGHHHHHH!!!!!! I want to play my 7800!!
  21. I agree. I had it hooked up properly I am pretty sure. These things arent all that complicated. Just strange rainbow swirling/rolling screen warp-- like I was holding a big magnet up to the screen or something. Could something be wrong with the unit?? Could there be dirt in the RF cable?? I am kind of scared to try again for fear that I may destroy the system.
  22. Anybody? Please? Help!!! I am begging.... I have 7800 games and I NEED to play them. HHHHEELLLLPPP!!!
  23. Hello AA. I am new here so I thought I would start things off with a troubleshooting question. I picked up a 7800 console (no power supply) from a thrift store the other day. I performed the cordless phone chargeable battery connection power supply mod listed here on the 7800 FAQ and proceeded to power up my new purchase. The connector barely fit but nonetheless I was happy at this point. I hit the power button and nothing happened at first. So, I assumed I had the polarity reveresed, turned off the console, pulled out the power supply, flipped it over and tried again. This time it worked, the light came on and there was some video response. The problem starts here. The picture was like a rainbow/rolling waterfall-like blurr with recognizable segments of the game I had inserted (2600 Pole Posititon) in the corners of the screen. I have not tried again since I fear that maybe I have fried the system. Could somebody tell me what is going on here and how to fix this??
