  1. I just got tower Toppler today for the 7800, but I am having a weird problem when I try to play it. I get past the title screen, but but when I try to start a level, as soon as the submarine drop the frog-thing off, it immediately sends me to the next level, before I can even move. It keeps doing this in an indefinite loop, even after the end level. Is there any way to get this to stop?
  2. Excellent shipping time and condition. Jaybird3rd rocks!
  3. I do think I will buy it, but it would still be nice to know Frogger's value.
  4. Man, no wonder Namco is losing so much money. If they keep pulling stunts like this with their games, they'll be out of business faster than you can say "Online Passes". [Note: I take every possible opportunity to rant about unlocalized "Tales Of" games, so if it comes to that, I'm sorry.] Namco has been putting out crap for a while now, with only a few glints of brilliance here and there, like Katamari Damacy, the Xeno series, and the Tales series. Other than that, Namco has slowly but surely moving down the path to EA-esque mediocrity beyond mediocrity.
  5. They were selling the Supercharger, along with 6 games, for $50. Sounds like a good deal to me.
  6. I recently saw a Starpath Supercharger in a store, along with 6 games, one of which was the cassette version of Frogger. Does anybody know the approximate value of this game? I haven't found anything online about the game's specific value, so I was wondering if anyone here knew.
  7. I am always suspicious of these console clones; I have a Yobo FC [Famiclone], and other than the fact that it doesn't take up a lot of space, I really don't like it. It has a death grip on cartridges, so I always feel like I'm damaging the console when I try to remove one.
  8. I just finished Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes yesterday. I had never beaten the original PS1 version of MGS, but I have played it, and the difference was just night and day.
  9. My experience buying from eightbit was great; he shipped the package right away, and it arrived very quickly. He gave me a fantastic deal on the system I bought, and it was in pristine condition.
  10. Well, the bigger screen certainly would help with games like Ouendan. That's the best use I can think of.
  11. I'm finally buying a 7800, and I'm really excited about it. I of course want the 7800 system with all the cords and a controller or two, in working condition. But, I also want a few games with it. These are the games I am specifically looking for: Ballblazer Dark Chambers Double Dragon Galaga Ikari Warriors Scrapyard Dog Tower Toppler But those are just suggestions. The only game on that list that I really, REALLY want to get is Ballblazer. If anyone has any offers, let me know.
  12. Dreamcast Neo-Geo AES Gamecube Virtual Boy [it actually looks quite nice sitting on a coffee table.]
  13. If you think that's awesome, check this out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ia1mb0srRA8
  14. So, why should I pick the 7800? It would greatly help my decision if you could give some reasons why the system is a good choice.
  15. I'm going to buy a new Atari console, but I'm having trouble deciding which one to get. I want to get the system with a lot of games, so I can only choose 1 of these 3. On one hand, I'm really interested in the 5200 as a system, due to the amazing graphics and sound it could produce in a game if programmed by someone who knew what they were doing. I'm also absolutely amazed by Adventure 2; if I do get a 5200, that will be one of the first games I get after the initial games that come with the system. The 7800 has more games that I am interested in, like Ballblazer [Yeah, I know it is also for the 5200], and Dark Chambers. However, I'm not very interested in the system itself, and I don't like the looks of the stick-like controller. Finally, the Lynx; I am always stunned by the graphics the Lynx can put out, so that makes it a very cool system for a potential purchase. There are a fair amount of games that I am interested in for the Lynx, such as Basketbrawl, Blue Lightning, Chip's Challenge, and Hydra. One more extra option, I could just skip buying a system, and spend it all on Jaguar and 2600 games. What is your opinion?
  16. I agree with most of the OP's post, but one thing must be considered; these are new controllers, not true console addons like the Sega CD, which require new games to use it effectively. However, in this age of digital downloads, a simple downloadable update is all that is necessary to enable support for these new controllers. Also, it is entirely feasible that a developer can allow both the motion controller and standard controller to be used in a game.
  17. I'm trying to get some variation of Ballblazer available with multiplayer on the PS2 or PSP, whether it be through Atari retro collections or emulation, or any other method. I would prefer to get PS2 emulation working, but I haven't had much luck. I tried the 5200 emulator for the PS2, but it can never find any roms on the USB stick or memory card. I know there are 5200 and 7800 emulators for the PSP, but I don't know of any that support netplay. So, is there anything special I have to do to get PS2 emulators working, or is there a PSP 5200/7800 emulator that features netplay? Alternately, are there any Atari retro compilations for the PS2 or PSP emulators that include Ballblazer and multiplayer?
  18. We'll get Jaguar wireless pads right around the same time we'll get Dreamcast ones.
  19. One more try. Anybody have these guides?
  20. I think it's safe to say, at least on this site, there's not a single one of us that wouldn't buy a true to form, next gen Game Boy I'm wondering how long the DS will last. It's cute and all, but I'd rather have one big screen. Nintendo knows that they'll sell a bazillion Game Boys when they announce a new one, and they won't even have to show any games or hardware. Then again, as long as Nintendo's philosophy is in line with low end hardware and control gimmicks, it might be a while. And to be honest, it's why I prefer PSP over the DS this generation. Not that theres not a lot of good DS games, just that I prefer a handheld to be a mini form of a home console. For me at least, the control scheme of the DS is archaic. The use of a stylus still is backwards. You do have a point that the PSP is more so a portable version of a home console. Sony has been porting a lot of PS2 and PS3 games down to the PSP as well [Jak & Daxter 4, Fat Princess, Modnation Racers, LittleBigPlanet, Motorstorm Arctic Rift, etc.] so the PSP is a good system for console/PC gamers that never had an interest in handhelds before.
  21. Wow, a Pac-Man quilt? That sounds pretty awesome; I never thought of that!
  22. The items I ordered arrived in excellent condition, far exceeding even my expectations! I would definitely buy from Chris Leach again. Also, if I may add, he is very courteous and responsive when I asked him questions about the items. He always replied in a kind and polite manner.
  23. Bump. Nobody has these guides?
  24. I thought that Famicom controllers were wired into the console itself. And, as others have said, the Jaguar controller port has more pins.
  25. Cool, good to see another Evo owner! I think the PSP is doomed if it follows Sony's arrogant "10-year cycle", especially since there are rumors that the 3DS will play non-3d videos stored on an SD card, and essentially have the same multimedia functions as a PSP. Correction; the PSP is truly doomed when the 3DS is hacked/gets a flashcart. Homebrew is all the PSP has going for it anymore, and even that's starting to slide. Edit: Okay, there's no question now. The PSP is dead. There is no room for more debate: http://www.siliconera.com/2010/06/27/dead-or-alive-3ds-has-motion-controlled-jiggling-too/
