I meant to put in my last reply.. I think it would also be neat if they utilized the touch screen as the UMD. It would be fully possible for the 3DS to process the 3D and double screen, as the polygon count and resolution can always be reduced un noticed due to the small screen. DC games were made to be played on a 20 inch av. screen, so no one is going to notice the changes that are made when its ported to a 3.5 inch screen. Good point; if the 3DS can do this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J-NQBKVlUBc&feature=player_embedded in 3D, then it could could Dreamcast games standing on its head, while drunk, beating Daikaimura with one hand. I think if the original Phantasy Star Online was ported to the 3DS, it would be a huge hit. Which reminds me, Sega, where is my Phantasy Star V?

When more people have access to cheap flash carts, or any viable flash cart at all, homebrew development will rise. It's a simple rule. Easy hacking is what makes the oXbox, PSP, and DS such popular homebrew platforms.

I'm currently looking for a couple strategy guides for my game guide collection right now. I just bought several from a very nice forum member here, and should recieve those soon, but there a few ones missing that I am interested in: Dragon Warrior I & II [Game Boy Color] Dragon Warrior Monsters 2 [Game Boy Color] Chrono Trigger [super Nintendo/PlayStation/DS] Golden Sun and Golden Sun The Lost Age [Game Boy Advance] Half-Life 2 [Xbox/PlayStation 2/PC] The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask [Nintendo 64] Persona 3: FES [PlayStation 2] Persona 4 [PlayStation 2] Tales of Phantasia [Game Boy Advance] Tales of the Abyss [PlayStation 2] Tales of Vesperia [Xbox 360] Skies of Arcadia Legends [Gamecube] Paper Mario [Nintendo 64] I realize that I have a low post count here at Atari Age, so I would not blame you for being skeptical about selling to me, but I do have good feedback at the Racketboy forums, and have been a longtime member there. If you have any questions on this, or have any of these guides to sell to me, please send me a PM.

I was pretty blown away when I saw the Cartridge version of Iron Soldier 2, especially since it looks just as good as the CD version.

I can't imagine what a 7800 would look like, upscaled with HDMI! Good luck; I'm trying to get a similar setup working with my Genesis and Jaguar.

Tron controllers (Xbox 360, PS3 & Wii)
lisalover1 replied to cimerians's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Ooh, I like the hand grips on the 360 controller; it looks very comfortable. The lights look nice, too. -
I'm not sure if you're allowed to ask that, but I generally use Emuparadise to download roms.

I think now I understand why the NES beat the 7800

I lived in a sheltered gaming childhood, in a Nintendo-only neighborhood when even a Sega console was considered exotic and odd. Thus, I never heard about most of these systems like the Jaguar until much later. Several months back, around last October or so, I had hit a period in which I was very curious about the advent of 3D games, and the transitional period into them. The jaguar was the first console that came to mind. It took a while to find one for under $100, but it was worth it. The first thing that struck me about the Jaguar was the controller. Everyone says it's an abomination of a device, but I found it to be quite comfortable and appealing. Then again, I am rather outspoken about my support of the Dreamcast controller. But nevermind about that. The first game I played was Iron Soldier, and it played far better than I expected. The framerate was quite good, and the graphics were modest, yet still indicative of the Jaguar's power. I only have gotten a few games since then, and am still looking for a reasonably-priced CD addon, as well as a few key games for the Jag. Nevertheless, I like what I see.

You have to remember that all the demos Nintendo showed for the 3DS were meant to be run in 3D, and reserved processor power for such action. To make 3D, the same image has to be processed twice, effectively halving the system's graphical output. What I'm saying is that the 3DS is likely significantly more powerful when playing a non-3D game. Since Dreamcast games were not made for 3D, or a second screen or touchscreen, none of these are necessary to be processed on the system. If Sega put a bit of effort into it, I'm sure that Dreamcast ports to the 3DS that are better than the original are possible.

I don't know if this is taboo, but a 2000 and 3000 are nearly identical in appearance and function, except the 2000 is easier to hack... I'm just saying.

Has anybody else had the pleasure to play this series of games? It's obviously an import game, but it's one of the best for the system. It's a rhythm game for the DS, and it received an English version called Elite Beat Agents, but the songs weren't quite as good. That's besides the point. There are 3 games in the series, Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan!, Elite Beat Agents, and the last one, which has one of the longest titles ever put in a videogame, Moero Nekettsu! Rizumu Damashii! Osu! Tatakae! Ouendan! 2!. It should be noted that there is also a homebrew PC game based off Ouendan simply called Osu!. It is a fantastic and incredibly addictive series of games, and it goes without saying that it beats the pants off Guitar Hero/Rock Band/Whatever the flavor of the week rhythm game is at the time. And like any good rhythm game, it naturally carries with it the insane group of fans who are able to do impossibly well, and even inventing new ways to make it more difficult, and mastering them, as well! One thing that should be noted is that this game is HARD. Really hard. There is no possible way you can succeed on your first try. Even seasoned veterans of the game break down on the higher difficulty levels! Only the hardcore need apply... or those with an cheat device. So, has anyone else played this game? What are your opinions on it?

Best of these 3? (dreamcast, ps1, n64)
lisalover1 replied to super_dos_man's topic in Classic Console Discussion
My vote is for the Dreamcast. I had a lot of great memories with my N64, and I love all the RPGs on the PS1, but to me, the Dreamcast is the better system. It has more fun and innovative games, a great controller and memory card, and a mountain of untapped potential. The Dreamcast and the Jaguar are the two best examples of untimely console death that I can think of. -
Why 2010 is a good year to have a Wii
lisalover1 replied to jeremysart's topic in Classic Console Discussion
Nintendo blew everyone out of the water at E3 this year. Microsoft's conference was just people flailing their arms [and legs] around like rag dolls on the stage, and was embarrassing for anyone involved. Sony's conference was plain and simple, just a 2-hour-long commercial. Hell, half of their time was spent bragging about their two new advertising campaigns! Don't even get me started on Ubisoft's conference, which only had one good announcement. Nintendo was the only one to show any new games, and the 3DS was a showstopper. Everyone else should have just packed up and gone home at that point; you can't beat that. -
Mega List of OVER 300 UNIQUE Released & UnReleased Jaguar Games!

I still find it hilarious that someone would have the audacity to name a game ApeShit. How could they get that one past the ESRB?
