I don't want to be the one to bring down the mood..... but this year is almost over...
  2. Silly question, but did we ever get any closer to having a a satandisk/ultrasatan disk image with a complete set of games etc?
  3. Yepperz. In good condition they usually go for between $500.00 and $700.00 for a basic system with 4 - 14 mb ram.
  4. Okiez, so the packaging of the STE and ST are the same and the pinouts are the same, but the internals are different and hence not compatible?
  5. Its feasible, but not easy. I searched for ages to find one - then TWO popped up on ebay so I bought them both. That was about 12 months ago and I have not seen many (read any) since then. I then had to search to find the 14mb upgrades for them, which I eventually found (cheaper new than used would you believe). Expect to pay between $500.00 and $700.00 USD for one in decent condition.
  6. Thanks for your help GadgetUK. The seller says the chip was pulled from a Mega ST.... but I have been told by two different people now (plus I suspected myself) that the DMA used in the Mega ST is the same as that used in the standard ST and so are not compatible with the STE range. Is this correct? Can a Mega ST DMA Chip be used in an STE?
  7. Hi guys, thanks for the help. So what you are saying is that the DMA Chip I have been sent to replace my bad DMA is simply another bad DMA? Apparently this DMA Chip, CO25913-38 PH23-030, is found in STs and works fine in them, however on the STE it is known as a bad DMA. The seller says it comes down to the date they were produced. So in other words, any CO25913-38 PH23-030 found in an SE from factory is a bad DMA, however if you pull a CO25913-38 PH23-030 from an ST and put it in an STE it is fine as these were produced BEFORE the batch of bad ones found in the early STEs. Is this correct?
  8. Hey guys, I recently purchased a replacement DMA chip for an Atari STE which has a buggy (or so I thought) DMA chip installed. The chip arrived today, however it is marked "CO25913-38 PH23-030" which from a couple of searches I have done is supposed to be one of the BAD DMA chips - whats worse is that it is exactly the same chip (CO25913-38 PH23-030) as whats already in my STE which is causing corruption and is supposedly one of the Bad/faulty DMA Chips. Can someone please confirm if this chip is a known GOOD DMA, or BAD DMA? Thanks.
  9. Erm, what do these do? Ive never heard of them.
  10. How about this for a mind bender - Solaris. Amazing technical showcase.... that is simply no fun to play. I think of it like a funky looking version of Star Raiders that has had the fun surgically removed.
  11. +1 - this games stinks like an exploded possum.
  12. Payment made for this lovely machine. I shall endeavor to give it a home deserving of its magnificence,
  13. That sounds cooliez, however, two lots of postage (one is bad enough) and it would make the unit far too expensive to bother with.
  14. Would have been nice - I was quite keen on the item myself, but what can you do?
  15. Yepperz, the only reason I know it sold is because I was interested in the unit and Pmed the seller, who told me it was already sold.
  16. Im sure he could, but it would probably be a bit pointless since it has already sold.
  17. Next in line pending price and postage cost.
  18. Strange, but I could not find any user feedback for this fellow. I recently purchased some items from Lotharek - namely a Stereo Pokey board, 1Mb Ultimate board and an SIO2SD (cased). All I can say is the fellow is a genuine pleasure to deal with. His products are of the very highest quality and incredably professional in both layout, design and construction. Furthermore, the items were very securely packed and were posted in a prompt manner. He is easily contacted via email and took the time to answer my questions. Definitely an A1 person to deal with and I look forward to his other products in the future.
  19. Hi Jeff, if you dont do any good trading please feel free to PM me a price on them. Steven.
  20. Hmmmm, having listened to both now I cannot agree. Pokey can sound good, but Sid still sound quite a bit better. How can Pokey be on par with Sid when it is technically inferior, is thought by most to be inferior and sounds, at least slightly, inferior? If you can name a single Pokey that sounds as good as Ghouls & Ghosts level 1 then Ill be over the moon. Still, it seems to be a very capable chip and better than most give it credit for. Ill be enjoying playing around with it for a bit.
