  1. Could he optimize it so it doesn't feel like it's running on a Commodore 64 anymore?
  2. D'oh! (slaps self). I brain-farted there and wrote Cannon Fodder where I meant Worms. Sorry about that.
  3. Jaguar Cannon Fodder [EDIT: Oops! Worms] is a port of the PC version, not the Amiga version. It's missing the zoom in/out scaling effect and some of the level-specific ambient sounds. The worst problem is that there's no NVRAM in the cart, so custom teams aren't saved. Second-worst problem is that the screen is a little too big for NTSC, so some of the status area may run off the bottom of the screen. Other than that, it's a perfect port.
  4. Ahem. Between the old "32+32 = 64" line, and "SNES Doom is better than Jag Doom", I think it's safe to say midwest_cdn has tipped his troll hat.
  5. To save precious (at the time) ROM space, the Intellivision was equipped with a simple BIOS called the EXEC. It included common math routines, handled sound, and also handled the sprites. Unfortunately, it only updated the sprites at 1/20th second. The Intellivision was fully capable of doing sprite multiplexing, but because of the flicker marketting forbid it.
  6. Don't forget Val d'Isere Skiing & Snowboarding.
  7. Because nobody "bitched" about it. Daring to differ with or qualify anything TBird says hardly counts as bitching.

Obviously I knew what he meant, otherwise I wouldn't have been able to correct him.
  9. Have you ever played any of the original computer versions? The 7800 version is completely lacking the silky animation and control of the originals. It was so hideous I could never bring myself to seriously play it after getting it.

You mean S-Video. SVHS is a type of VHS VCR with enhanced resolution.
  11. Cybermorph. JagCD: Vid Grid, Blue Lightning, Myst Demo, Tempest 2000 Soundtrack
  12. Frell. Double-post and no Delete button to be seen...
  13. Only because you told it to. It does ask.
  14. Jag Syndicate is identical to PC Syndicate. A little TOO identical, if you ask me. They did a really bad job of converting the menus from mouse to joypad control. It also slows down a lot... clearly a straight 68K recompile of the source. Still, it's fun if you put the effort into learning the controls. I've played it all the way through at least twice, and still get a kick out the the havoc you can wreak with the Persuadertron.
  15. Oh, and of course they didn't keep backups or anything.
  16. My JVC TV has just such an option. And toggling it makes a visible difference in both composite and s-video modes (although for s-video the difference is negligible). In composite, you want to turn it off for non-interlaced video sources (ie, classic gaming consoles), because otherwise you get the "dot crawl" effect.
  17. So what did you think of the port of Super Zaxxon?
  18. Then you should have picked a more efficient codec. But still, it can't have come as a surprise to you that video files are big. BTW, have you ever considered using Thief's Victoria as your avatar?
  19. Neither of these originated on either system. Karateka was ported to the XL and 7800 from the original Apple II version (and in the case of the 7800 version... badly). Likewise Tower Toppler was originally released in Europe as Nebulus for the Amstrad and Spectrum. There are also ports for the C64, Amiga, ST, and Pocket PC. As for Mean 18 and Commando, see this Google thread.
  20. Genesis controllers work fine on anything designed to work with a standard CX40 stick. All 2600s, all 8-bit Atari computers, most 8-bit Commodores...
  21. This is a really low-priority request, but it would be nice-- The ability to record game audio directly to a WAV file. I recently tried recording some game music using DOS Z26, and the result was... not pretty. The ability to make an AVI would be nice too, though likely much more complex. I was impressed that Atari800Win Plus had this option.
  22. So run a TCP/IP - SIO2PC gateway off your server to a real Atari.
  23. No harder than it's ever been, I'd wager. The big challenge would be getting anyone to actually dial in. Now what would be truely cool, would be setting up a website that let you connect to an Atari BBS in your browser window. This would probably best be implemented by a stripped-down Atari emulator in Java on the client side, exchanging encapsulated "modem" packets with an emulated Atari running the BBS on the server side.
