  1. Please tell us you don't seriously say "FUR" to mean frame rate.
  2. No, all you've discovered is that low-bitrate digitized English spoken by some Japanese engineer in the 80s is hard to understand.
  3. This is fallacious reasoning promoted by people failing to notice that in both cases the root cause of complaint is actually the same: Terrible Thread.
  4. What IS it with idiot newbies always dredging up terrible years-dead threads?
  5. Hey now, Ladybug technically uses full-screen flicker on the playfield.
  6. I assume "Automatic HMOVE strobing" is your inside-out way of listing "Horizontal position registers".
  7. Flicker is displaying a thing sometimes and then sometimes not. The possible ways to implement sometimes showing a thing and sometimes not showing a thing are virtually infinite.
  8. I'm not sure who this Nintendo I'm Done fellow is, but he sounds like a jerk.
  9. For the love of god, it's called a "thread".
  10. The Jaguar came out in the standard definition era. Your obsession with squeezing higher resolutions out of it is silly and pointless.
  11. This is a truly dumb post. Jag AvP and PC AvP are drastically different games. The PC version is a hyperactive twitch shooter, while the Jag version is more of an action-adventure. What anyone considers better depends on which kind of gameplay they prefer.
  12. But... Breakout 2000 is terrible. It plays and sounds like a C64 game, and not a very good one at that. As for this dumb thread, of course the Jaguar had the raw ability to be a success, as the few well-programmed titles demonstrate. It just didn't have enough money thrown at it for marketing, dev tools, and in-house development.
  13. Burn the fireplace? Like, the fireplace itself was on fire? WTF?
  14. I suspect the term you're fumbling for is that the 2600 has 4K of address space. Which wasn't even a hard limit anymore at the time Pac Man came out, as Atari was already doing bank-switched cartridges by then.
  15. The 2600 doesn't have 4K of memory. It has 128 bytes. And it's Garry Kitchen, people.
  16. Not sure if joking or crazy person.
  17. Please explain how you've convinced yourself that the "real" problem with 2600 Pac-Man is something that nobody ever mentions. Your complaint doesn't even make sense on its own terms, since 2600 Pac-Man's speed is perfectly fine, there is no "rotation" in any version, just immediate snapping to the direction of motion, and no "curves", just a subtle snapping from one tunnel to the next when preemptively pressing toward your next turn. Even if this mythical arcade movement existed in the 2600 version, we'd still be stuck with the completely wrong maze, wrong colors, insane flicker, and BONG BONG BONG sound effects.
  18. No, the 4K version does not include intermissions. The 8K version does.
