  1. That rendering hoax is at least a year old now. Lot's of better things to do with your video game time than chase this JJ
  2. The Wavebird has excellent radio performance and that's partially because it does not support bi-directional communication. It only radio's back data to the console and does not require any handshaking with the controller itself. OK....actually it does but that's done in the receiver plugged in. That's one of the reasons it does not support vibration (battery life is another) and I think it was a great idea and the correct decision. PlayStation DualShock and DualShock 2 type controllers must have bi-directional communication to properly function, the old digital controller does not. That's one reason you see IR wireless PlayStation digital pads and dance mats instead of RF. The low level DualShock 2 communications protocol is a real pain in the ass to deal with. I would be so much happier if everything worked like a 2600 joystick -Jerry Note to self Jerry: avoid discussing work stuff on these forums.
  3. The Pelican stuff is excellent (I can only comment PlayStation wise) but does not exactly adhear to the PlayStation controller protocols. I assume you have the new wireless ones without vibration instead of the real old ones. The radio performance and data transfer rate are good but like I said, does not fully adhear to the Playstation controller port communication specs. No unlicensed 3rd party controllers do to my knowledge. I'll spare you the technical details and just say you have one of the best wireless controllers in performance and their is no risk it will damage the console. Happy gaming! Jerry
  4. The Mad Catz wireless and most 3rd party wireless controllers do not communicate back to the console each vblank. They average things out and respond when their ready to lower their data transfer rate. Pay the $39.95 and get the new (smaller) LICENSED Logitech wireless. It performs exactly like a wired DualShock 2 and the ergonomics are excellent. If you want real cheap, try the non licensed Pelican controllers without vibration. They respond pretty well but are not 100% correct electrically. Jerry
  5. Room would have been made, I'm certain of that! Hopefully the AA team will return in full force to the Burlingame 05 CGE. San Jose is pretty sterile and the Hyatt should offer a much better venue for everyone, especially interactions before and after the show. One of my fondest memories of CGE was the big get together in the AA hotel room a few years ago. JJ
  6. Negative......I was pretty unsteady and burnt out most of the weekend (a little tipsy at times as well) so maybe it was not your camera work MegaMan. BTW: You should be slapped for wasting your bytes on my mug vs my games there JJ
  7. Those bastards, they hijacked your booth! -jj
  8. March might be better! Now if you can assure me it won't rain I'll sign up now Jerry
  9. Thank goodness, I thought I pissed somebody else off for a second If my Computer Space and Pong make it back from E3 we can talk, just kidding. I know they made it there cause I saw them on TV today. Sure wish I could have made NWCGE and keep up the good work for the classic community. Jerry
  10. Huh....."and yes, even Jerry Jessop" Is there a hidden messege here Lee? Why would I not contribute or support NWCGE? JJ
  11. Here is an article I found online that describes such and incident and is a pretty good read. http://www.digiserve.com/eescape/atari/art.../King-Pong.html Jerry
  12. Sounds like a great event. The problem is it's the weekend just before E3! Jerry
  13. I swear by the disk doctor as well. After using it I apply some chrome polish (super fine) clean it up with IPA then buff the disk with "Brilliazine" (close?) a plastic glaze. They look virtually new afterwards and my success rate is 99.9999%. Even disks I took steel wool too have been recovered. Disk Doctor, looks stupid but honestly works. Jerry
  14. Atari's downfall was a totally self inflicted gunshot wound. Atari marketing idiots started making engineering decisions that sank the company, they didn't even play video games. My recollection was that Atari did have the U.S. distribution rights for the NES in the late 82 to Tramiel sale time period. I remember having a number of NES consoles in the lab and playing Popeye on them. Jerry
