  1. My head just spins in both disgust and mild amusement at the thought. How many dozens of people (or hundreds?) were being paid how much in what parts of the world to sit around offices for years, doing nothing because there was no product and they never truly marketed? There should be a sitcom made about this whole situation, with Poor Tom played by Steve Carrell or something. This would be worth a season or two of laughs. Much less if you somehow sideline it into Billy Mitchell / Chameleon / Ouya / N-Gage extras just for funsies. Oh and the low level "failure" story redemption arc should have something to do with Trip Hawkins / Naughty Dog making Way of the Warrior, filming the fighting moves in their sweatsuits and cheap kids costume pieces...but then going on to be the Naughty Dog we know today with Crash Bandicoot & Last of Us.
  2. Instead of starting a new topic on a somewhat similar subject, I'm piggy backing here... Value check on a Mystique Entertainment Division Registration card? IDK how I have one, as I've never owned a Mystique title to my knowledge, but I have a mediocre condition "Factory Service Center" Warranty card. If it's worth "real" money maybe I'll sell it (on the cheap here in the forums relative to value). If it's not, I'd be happy to mail it to a collector (free of charge) in of one to make one of their games CIB etc.
  3. Been using an Xbox One controller for PC / Steam gaming, and enjoying it...but mine died recently (the directional Up button appears to have died, working about 20% of the time at best).  Looking for a good replacement, and am honestly just bewildered at the number of choices!  Rather too many than too few but...daaaang some people spend as much as a new Series S console for a controller!  :P  Probably just going to get a MS Series controller after spending HOURS reading reviews of various brands.  What a crazy market!!

The X-360 controller's design just may be the most copied in history since the Atari 2600.

Xbox controllers tend to have the best compatibility with everything, even though the DirectInput layer was never great. Xinput is pretty ubiquitous these days, though. And you can usually run non-Steam games through Steam and get Steam Input features to help with the protocol situation. I'd recommend whatever official Xbox controller you can find or a high quality third party controller for an Xbox console.

  4. I quite literally have done so - I have OFFICIALLY been diagnosed by my PCP with "Gamer's Thumb", am on strong anti-inflammatory drugz, and am wearing a Thumb Spica. Amusingly, in the comments in the fine print at the bottom of the Rx for the Spica, it says: Prognosis: Poor Length of Time: 99 years LOL She's not wrong though. Can't really stop me from gaming, damn it. Especially now that I have a Satiator.
  5. Just a brief mention of how thankful I have been lately, as a gamer.  To be able to have all the best systems and games at my fingertips with modern advances, just incredible.  Playing the 2600 or 7800 either with an Edladdin arcade stick, or on an OLED via the GameStation Pro, just insane experiences.  Genesis via the Analogue Mega SG, all the great re-releases of old games onto new systems.  It's just wonderful. :)

It really is a cool time!

Just thinking about it,  It is a good time to be a gamer!   I even still have homebrews from past orders I haven't yet played,...Hmmmm  (I feel a Status Update coming on)

  6. I admire collectors, and sure wish I had a huge collection as I once did. But do I regret selling most of it for thousands, and getting a Satiator? I do NOT. Note one tiny little bit.
  7. Here we are...making updates to posts from 8 years ago! Yes, we still love the Saturn!! I love the new ports of Nights and Guardian Heroes (Xbox 360 to present, I believe they're on PS too)... but definitely need the old school Saturn for Die Hard Arcade, Dragon Force, Virtua Cop (CRT!), and no better platform for NightWarriors / SF Alpha 2/3.
  8. I have not yet had to use Port 2, but I do use the GSP controller wirelessly to navigate the menus. So I have to have it sitting nearby to go back to the menu, to select a game, etc. But from there, the Arcade stick works great. B button is mapped to the main fire button (2600 / 7800), and the X button is the 2nd 7800 button.
  9. Just want to report (in case it hasn't been already, IDK, trying to keep up but 31 pages is a LOT lol!)... The 8bitdo Arcade Stick for Switch / PC DOES work, and fantastically, for 2600 and 7800 games, you just need the USB - C adapter which is like $5 online. It's...amazing honestly. Set the dial to X-input and you're good to go. Having an absolute blast playing Subterranea, Commando, PMP's Galaxian...all looking amazing in HD on an OLED. Just LOVE it.
  10. Very seriously considering going to a local game shop tomorrow and unloading a boxed 5200 2-port, a Saturn CIB (nearly new with all docs, etc), Saturn Virtua Stick, a Genesis / Sega CD / 32x Model 2 Tower combo with box for the 32X, a Bioshock Skyhook replica boxed / working / like new, Typing of the Dead for Dreamcast With Dreamcast Keyboard, Dreadnaught Factor for 5200 CIB and a buncha other goodies.  Hoping they make me a solid offer on everything, fingers crossed!  If anyone has interest in those items for reasonable prices LMK.  Otherwise, hoping to get some decent $ and/or store credit...and finally unload some of my IMO oversized / underused collection :)

  11. OG Xbox games are nice and dirt cheap, thankfully.  Was Xmas shopping for others but ended up with nice copies of Apex, Wrath Unleashed, and the Halo 2 Steelbook version for less than a pizza would've run me.  :)

Well I recommend a CRT if you have one :)   I snagged a Chimera HDMI adapter because I'm super big on the OG Xbox / nostalgic.  I think you'll enjoy.  Sure the graphics from that era don't compare to now, but they're not bad at all either.  Especially on the top tier games like Halo 2, Panzer Dragoon Orta, etc.

Probably better graphics than I am used to,  heh...I used to have a CRT in my "Atari Room",  but now I have a Roku Smartass TV,  wait is that it? haha...It's an HD LCD and it looks Great!  I run it though a Retro Tink 2X PRO so no worries!  I'll have to check what cables I have for XBOX,  Hey,  think I've got a Component Out!  I have a few Multi-Format A/V outs (Like they work for PS2/XBOX/GC, etc.)...It Does have Component!  Another has A/V/S-Video.  Which I also have a projector w/ S-Video, VGA etc...

That is awesome!!  Yeah the RetroTink is DEFINITELY going to take care of that ol' Xbox :)

  12. Honestly I thought he was too for a second...lol I mean, it's pretty insane that this tiny cheap thing will play all that it does. I could see someone in 5 years shoehorning PS3 games and Win 11 into it
  13. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Arcade1Up-Street-Fighter-II-CE-HS-5-Deluxe-Stand-Up-Cabinet-Arcade-Machine/5088151497?fulfillmentIntent=Shipping&from=/search Supposedly there's an Extra $50 off if you Sign in too, so...$350 for a new Deluxe. I'm tempted, for the SF games, Captain Commando, Final Fight, King of Dragons. Just wish it had Vulgus, but that's a guilty pleasure. Yoga Flame cab with riser is currently $299 also. Zoinks.
  14. I've had no issues with any 7800 games at all. Do you have one, or did you find someone somewhere say they weren't getting proper emulation? As for 5200 well, it's not an analog controller and there's no keypad. So...limitations. Which I am expecting someone to crack soon. MyArcade honestly is by far not the worst of the partners that could have been chosen. Would I prefer Arcade roms to NES roms in their minicades? You betcha. But that said they are surprisingly good for the price and size (I've got Elevator Action, Dig Dug, Pac-Man, and Galaxian and REALLY enjoy them). $20 a pop. I would say their reputation is really not half bad. Especially compared to some...but I don't feel a need to whizz on the brands I don't personally care for.
  15. Ya know...I'm kind of still in actual literal awe at how dumb and screwed up that company is. Now, I'm not trying to take anything away from these folks because what they've done is fantastic, if not successful... But you know, the PlayDate came out. Like, it got made, and games come out for it (some of which honestly look hilarious, innovative, fun, etc though I don't own one, bit pricey for me personally for what it is). It had no Intellivison back catalogue, no fancy salesperson like TT at least first appeared to be. And the PlayDate has been out for quite some time. And it downloads games and apps. And gets updates. And has multiple developers. And the Sinden Light guns came out. Sinden is ONE GUY. His name is Andy. He had a great idea, worked it out, and got the product made. And eventually into the hands of consumers. He put in major effort, even going to the manufacturing plant in person regularly to oversee etc. And then he got to supply the tech to Arcade1Up for some cabs, and they're still selling. And the iiRcade entire home arcade cabinet got released, got placed in Best Buys, sold for a few years. TBH I don't even know if it was a great idea (love mine but as a market thing, deeply questionable). I won't go into the politics of the owner of the company which is now bankrupt, but they sold thousands of full sized arcade machines, it had well over 200 games for it, they got this thing into consumers' hands. Yes there are tons of complaints now and always were...but the THING GOT MADE. Sold. Played. And the owner was, to understate matters, not what I would call a person with good business sense. At all. How do you screw up this system to the full FUBAR level? I know, I know...the answer and blueprint is do everything as badly as they did, step by step. You almost literally could not do any worse. Like how do you lose that much money, make that many people upset at you, and at no point deliver any actual hardware / product that anyone can play or enjoy? Not one, not a single end user. Nothing. Just incredible.
  16. First one is OBVIOUSLY Demons to Diamonds: Cornhole Edition (duuuuh!) Honest guesses though would be Double Dunk, Steeplechase, and ... well shoot. I was going to say Aquaventure but isn't that already on there? Subnautica demake??
  17. FINALLY got my hands on a Satiator for the Saturn, and oh is my free time gone.  :)  Had played SF Zero 3 before but never with the Saturn controller.  Whole world of difference, what a great experience!  Now to get into some of the more obscure (and/or too expensive) titles.  Er I mean games that I already own but am playing the backup version of. :)

  18. Super great to work with! Bought a BEAUTIFUL Japanese Saturn with Satiator, shipped fast, packed well, FANTASTIC condition, thank you!! Would buy from again and again!
  19. Same boat, but I didn't bite on the VCS yet. Almost. I like the classic controller's look, a LOT, and part of the value would've been that. And honestly I thought the system itself looks super great (Vader would be my choice, love the red back too, the whole red / black theme). But yes, the real question...what does it do that I can't get in at least as decent a way elsewhere? And I don't know, really. If they're going to release all the recharged series on Steam...and most of the games are on Atari 50... and it doesn't play carts, and you can't add your own roms unless you go PC mode...IDK. It will be interesting to see what they end up doing with it. I could see it being a good system for someone that would rather use it than Steam for retro style games with flashy new looks, plus stuff like Amoeba Jump and Donut Dodo.
  20. Some more 5200 testing with the Standard GSP controller: River Raid rocks (best version of the game, maybe?), plays great Castle Crisis, Gorf, Kaboom!, all fail as they're set to analog in a way that doesn't translate Unplayable, basically Mario Bros, Pengo, Mr Dos Castle, Montezuma's Revenge, Miner 2049er, Kangaroo, Jungle Hunt, Joust, Gremlins, Galaxian, Dig Dug, Countermeasure, Bounty Bob, and Berzerk all seemed to play just great, no issues at all that I could tell from brief trials. Pac-Man / Ms Pac Man / Jr Pac Man play, but I again had trouble specifically with the verticals going where I wanted them to, kept missing turns etc. Maybe I'm old and really bad at this joystick. Moon Patrol works great BUT you cannot Continue (need the #2 on the number pad to continue) Return of the Jedi works BUT you have to be careful not to hit the C button / trigger, or it resets your game. I had major issues with this lol Popeye would not load, just a blank screen and music, at least for me.
  21. I finally got my files loaded to a microSD and I like how it's working so far. As for the controller, I am struggling mightily with most maze games on all systems, 2600 / 5200 / 7800. But I have played Dreadnaught Factor, it is enjoyable but without a Keypad input you can only play level 1, which is the same 1 Dreadnaught, then the game ends after you destroy it. I had a great time with 5200 Galaxian; just had to move the paddle controller to the middle as an early adjustment. Plays brilliantly. Sadly cannot Start Intellidiscs as it requires the number pad. Space Invaders looks freaking amazing (to a simpleton like me) in HDMI / OLED, plays perfectly. Will kick around some others and report back as I'm able.
  22. And who, WHO I ask you doesn't love a nice glass of OJ with their pizza??
  23. Just curious, is this a reference to the zip code issue I see discussed? Don't have a VCS yet but considering the $180 BF sale. Maybe. IDK.
