I like both this and the other non-front loading mod that sean49938 did. I'd be buying one, except I already have too many systems as is.

I would think this one would be worth a slight bit more than the cost of the other one, which was $85? So maybe $100 ish would be reasonable.

So I'm not sold on the Wii U as of yet...
For some of you that are, what's your main reasoning? As in, what are you most looking forward to playing on it / doing with it that is exciting?
I'm definitely not saying you're wrong, I'm just curious what the draw is. Kinda still in love with the Wii, personally.

Anyone know off hand what that 2-d Batman game was, or the cell shaded type of Spiderman game?
My favorite Wii games of all time were actually not in the video (or went by too fast): Geometry Wars: Galaxies, Rayman Raving Rabbids, and Gunblade NY. Oh, and the WiiWare game "Rage of the Gladiator" (a punch-out homage done up in medieval fantasy style).

I have an X-Arcade Tankstick... Nothing like REAL buttons and sticks. Works great with ANYTHING in Mame, Stella(2600), Colecovion, Sega Genesis, CD, Neo Geo Etc... Etc... Etc...
Just curious how you most easily get this hooked up to the Genesis, SNES, etc? I've got a Tankstick and love it, and use it connected to the PC for emulators of all kinds. Is there an adapter to get it to plug into my Genesis, or not so much? Great, great controller.

I'm interested in this, and have no interest in the handheld. I just like the arcade stick. But it's not worth $200 just yet...
Favorite Neo Geo Games of all time, people discuss perhaps?
Off hand I'm thinking Operation Super Spy, Viewpoint, all the Metal Slugs, and of course all those crazy fighting games.

I'd rather sit between two Albanian women with excruciating body odor, than have my joystick carved in 24k gold by 100-year old Armenian craftsmen.
I would also rather have a bottle in front of me than a frontal lobotomy, but that's getting off the topic of having some Centenarians carve into Ax's joystick.
-
I love the "Carved in 24k gold by 100-year old Armenian craftsmen". Like, are they all precisely 100 years old? And how exactly does being that old help their ability to hold a steady hand whilst carving the Gemstick?

I find the Kool-Aid to be a fairly tasty treat, myself.
I don't go hating on other company's systems, I just have a strong preference for Atari, partially due to it being my first love.
I had an Odyssey2 back in the day, but the Atari was far preferred.
And yeah, I have several Sega systems, and thus like their Kool-Aid too. And an Xbox, and a 360, and a PS2, and a Wii, and a SNES. And someday may go for a Colecovision.
But I love my 2600, my 5200, my 7800, my Flashback 2 to pieces, probably more than the other systems combined. Maybe. Okay maybe not. But I like them a disproportionate amount. (Genesis CDX / 32X, Saturn and Dreamcast make this a tough call).
And I always have hated the NES, go figure. Always hated how it looked, hated the controllers passionately, didn't think the games were my thing. So maybe I'm drunk on the heavily spiked Kool-Aid.

I personally have to disagree that the filmmakers' supposedly falsely portrayed Billy Mitchell. I'm not saying they didn't lean things in a certain way, but holy tamales, that guy is really a piece of work.
You can say they cast you in a poor light, but it wasn't as if they were taking tiny snippets and piecing them together. He looks bad after watching him talk for a few minutes straight. IMO, that's a pretty good indication that the guy _is_ bad, or perhaps he's gotten better and simply _was_ bad at the time.
I don't think the way Twin Galaxies was run was actually all that bad. Not by any means bulletproof, but I've seen worse. They were working on improving, they made mistakes, but their intents were good. And plus, Walter Day is _the man_.
Okay, a bit of a muppet, but I still like the guy. -
If the cost is in the region of $40 per cart, count me in. I've never had the patience for 5200 emulators but don't care.
I'll buy unplayed. -
Oh, back in the day when you could buy a game like Phantasy Star Online, and pay for it, and not have to pay another dime as part of some preposterous monthly maintenance fee _on top of what you paid for the game_. What a naive utopia the Dreamcast represented.

Nothing but positive experience with Best Electronics for me. Especially, as stated above, their Gold 5200 controllers.
Nothing but positive, that is, except for navigating their website.

But yeah, just look around, find what you want, email them and they'll get back to you with a total, costs, answer any questions, and away you go.

Throwing out some favorites for DC, avoiding the fighting games as the OP said they're not into them (which is a bit of a shame as I think the DC is an absolute fighting game powerhouse, what with Soul Calibur, VF3, Power Stone 1 and 2, Marvel vs Capcom 2, etc):
Seconding the motion above for Toy Commander, Cannon Spike and Demolition Racer: No Exit...
Adding Speed Devils (a fun racer if _long_), Typing of the Dead (need a DC Keyboard, but it's _awesome_), Space Channel 5 and Ooga Booga (how many witch-doctor shooting / fighting games you gonna come across anyways??).
Have fun with the DC!

I too would like to see links for some of this, as I'm too lazy to research all of it on my own.

Particularly the 5200 leather covers, Gauntlet (release date, roughly??) and the composite video mods.

I remember working at an arcade back when Mortal Kombat II came out. People loved it, but that game was in all seriousness completely unfinished, it was so buggy. Games would freeze in the middle of a battle and the entire system would reset maybe every fifth or sixth game. But people kept pumping in quarters at a record-smashing pace in order to pay Midway to play-test their game. And Midway would release updates to the boards, sometimes charging the arcade vendors for them (?!?!), but no one stopped playing, no one stopped making money. It was a travesty, but in ways Midway was the smartest guy in the room. Why spend the money to play-test if people are willing to do it for you while paying you?
And same with D3. If people didn't buy the game (and defend it), if enough people lobbied for their money back....
But as a whole, our society is not principled enough. So this is indeed the way of gaming, and has been for quite some time.

Mmm, tempted! I've not been to Portland, but that damned show Portlandia has me thinking about it, and this is as good an excuse as any!
The 9pm to Midnight extended arcade / cash bar hours sounds fun too.
Just gotta see if flight / hotel rates will make this doable. Seems like you guys have _quite_ the event set up this year!

By far, my favorite joystick is, and has always been, the Slik Stik by Suncom. Because of the way they are constructed, they are virtually impossible to wear out. The feel and control are absolutely perfect in my opinion.<br />There were 2 variations: a "patent pending" model distinguishable by a sticker on top, and the final model with painted graphics instead of the sticker. My favorite is the latter which seems to be more common.
Agreed fully, look for a Slik Stik on Ebay or wherever you can get one, they're great and not too expensive.
If you can find a TAC-2, also by Suncom, go for that, it's hands down the best I've ever used. But they seem to be getting more expensive last I checked ($50 or $70 or some similar nonsense).

OH me wants that mame cabinet so. And I even have use of a van....
But for the next several weeks, nowhere near the time to go fetch. Iowa to Florida and back is _quite_ a journey. Damn!
Nice cabinet, Bob!!!

Definitely a great deal!
Lots of comments on the joystick, too. Personally I picked up one of the official Sega 6-Button ones a few months back as well. I didn't really care for it. It's got a mushy stick (i.e., unlike a real microswitch-driven arcade stick), and the buttons are kind of small. Because there are six, your hand ends up hanging off the edge as you use the A, B and C buttons, and it's not all that comfortable. Maybe I'm just too used to modern Hori sticks, but that's just me. The three button Sega stick looks to have slightly larger buttons and more room for your trigger hand to rest on the unit instead of hanging off.
I'm thinking all of the Sega 6-button Arcade Sticks had the holy hell beaten out of them by dudes playing Street Fighter II: Special Champion Edition.

And they were a bit mushy for my taste from the outset. 6-button pad, I tell you. Single-handedly had me defending the Genesis over the Snes during their hotly contested years.

Alas, I've been waiting for this since the waning moments of MGC 2011 but due to a firestorm of BS in my life, work, and such, had to cancel my hotel reservation with great sorrow and can't make it.
And thusly, I would like for everyone to enjoy themselves thoroughly but please report that everything about the show sucked afterwards and assure me that I missed nothing.

I kid about that. And in fact, I would request that people take as many gazillion photos as possible so that I may re-live the event vicariously after you all get home and upload them, and maybe some short YouTube vids and such. I hope it's great again, and shall be looking forward to CGE 2013!

Yeah, Moonwalker CIB alone is worth more than $30 if it's in good shape, well done!
It's not super rare, it sold a fair number of copies I believe. But it's sought after, partially because it's a GREAT and hilarious game, and partially for the Micheal Jackson / true 80/90's memorabilia factor.
As to the Sega 6-button arcade stick, I remember not liking it much. Can't say for sure why; I believe the 3-button arcade stick is well regarded.
I use and LOVE to pieces a Sega 6-button arcade Pad. I think it's the best controller I've ever played with for any system, frankly. If you haven't gotten one (and make sure it's a Sega brand one), make sure to track one down. I believe there are sellers on Amazon who have Sega brand ones brand new for $12 or so last I checked.

I also have to vote against Collectors Cards and Games. Might be a recent thing, but I have seriously been emailing with the guy since...November, I think? Maybe earlier. Saying "I'd like to buy these items from your website...". And he's been writing back with the "let me see if I can find them...". Then a month later "Almost ready...". Month later "Okay I have most of these items...." Yeek. Not good right now, but his selection and prices are hard to beat, so I hope it all comes together....
Had excellent experiences with atari2600.com as well as Trade n Games. I would honestly say Trade N Games is the most professional and quickest responding I've dealt with of all the retro online game shops. And they've got the best website to boot.

Nintendo Wii - 2006 to 2012

Thanks for the tip! Picked up Batman: Brave and the Bold and very much enjoy it. Plus it's $15 brand new these days, makes it all the better. Kind of a throwback style, playing it reminds me of Adventures of Batman & Robin for the Genesis. And to a lesser extent, the entirely different game of the same name for the SNES. Very strange humor they have with this Brave and the Bold (not familiar with it until this game). Game is really intended for younger kids, but I'm enjoying it.
Next up will be the Spiderman: Shattered Dimensions game. Trying not to buy it new as I'm trying to keep to my principles and not support Activision.
Trouble is no used ones are currently at any of my local game shops, which is usually a good sign that the game is pretty good.
And one more Wii point - Resident Evil 4 is $9.99 brand new from Amazon these days. Picked it up (again) to re-play through.
