  1. Microsoft does. If you don't have a modified console, or enough to know what really goes on behind the scenes of the dashboard updates, then it's easy to think that it's no big deal. Microsoft thinks that it's big enough of an issue that they recently updated every DVD drive on every 360 in the last year and a half to support newer "XGD3" discs, which basically allow the discs to be burned slightly beyond normal capacity. Only the original Samsung drives did not get updated, as they cannot see the outer rim of an XGD3 disc. All this just to put a stop to people with custom firmware. Since you made the comment, and I'm not trying to be a jerk when I say this, but, you obviously have no idea what you're talking about. It really is a much bigger issue than you realize. http://kotaku.com/58...i-games-of-2011 Eight hundred and ninety thousand people pirated Gears of War 3, and that's just from one torrent site. Take into consideration other torrent sites, download sites like the recently shutdown Megaupload, and usenet, and you easily have over a million people with modified consoles. So yeah, I'm serious. I will at this point completely concede. I did have no idea the numbers involved, my statement and argument were based on my own logic alone. I'm shocked that so many pirated Gears 3 (and have the machines to play it on, with whatever is necessary). I hath been schooled.
  2. Boom indeed! I would posit that the guy likes his Nos Energy drink and Red bull, and himself, more than the Flashback 2. But for three seconds of his life he was in love with it.... "Kevin likes that packaging...."
  3. Piracy? You're serious. You think that's an issue. The sixteen guys who have flashed 360s, who would never ever pay full price for a game even if they couldn't pirate them? They're a factor in the greater Xbox economy as a whole? And yes I exaggerate, but serious. The sixteen hundred guys? Or even five thousand guys with pirate-y rigs and shit, who as I say wouldn't pay full price for new games anyways? What do they matter? If this stuff goes through, in all seriousness, I'll be done for good with new consoles. I'm already on the border; I feel like booting up my game system only to have it basically ask me for my credit card number ("Get Gold Now!") so it can charge me an auto-renewing yearly fee is beyond upsetting. And of course, the real factor, they just can't seem to make good enough games anymore. I don't want another first person shooter. I don't care about motion controls. I am, in a word, old. And thus, I'll probably wind up going full old school.
  4. Fast Eddie, Subterranea, Jawbreaker, Sky Skipper (hey, I hadn't heard of it until a year or two ago)... and Cakewalk
  5. Very seriously thinking about a couple of these.... now if only a bit more of my stuff gets sold, I'll be picking up an item or two...
  6. I'm confused, the link you posted is to a currently listed item that has a pic and is clearly in better shape, maybe the link was the wrong one? But in any case, I would say looking at what you got, I'd insist on a refund and sending it back. That's just an awful looking label, cheap or not (what did you pay?), I wouldn't have that in my collection. Was the auction "as is" or was there a return allowance? If it wasn't an "as is" auction, you may be able to force him to give you a refund through ebay / paypal. They're very buyer happy as a rule, unless it was listed as an "as is" auction, in which case you may be screwed. Edit: Found what I think is the one you're talking about, $30 with stock photo and "game is in "good" condition, some fading and discoloration". Says he gives refunds within 7 days, I'd make him do so. It's obvious why he didn't post a photo of this one.
  7. Sold a great homebrew game to him, good communication and paid quickly! Would happily do business with again!
  8. Sold several games to jtoubeaux, good communication and fast payment! Would do business with again and happily!
  9. Sold some games to him, fast payment, fun to talk to! Would definitely do business with again!
  10. A+! Nice person to deal with, fast payment too! Hope to do business with again!
  11. Update with items sold, some prices reduced, ka-bump! Going, going gone on Tooth Protectors... It's very likely going on Ebay soon starting at over half again more expensive, so if you want a great deal, take me up on this for what I've got it at here and now. I'd prefer to sell it to an AtariAge person for obvious reasons, but am not going to take under $199 for it as it's worth significantly more than that in its condition.
  12. I usually prefer a joystick, but the Prolines are awful. What's the very best two-button 7800 solution? I like the Europads mostly, but they totally suck for maze games (Ms. Pac Man and Pac-Man Collection obviously) and can be bad for some other kinds of games.
  13. I, too, would consider attending the Portland event, as I dream of the 90's.
  14. Thanks! And I'm not letting that one go beneath $17, if it doesn't sell I'm keeping it. It's too good a game, only selling 'cause I needs the money now and will eventually look for and buy a CIB version probably, when I'm in better fundage.
  15. Final bump with painfully harsh price reductions all around; I'd rather sell here than Ebay, but it'll all go to Ebay in a day or two if it doesn't sell here, and for much higher prices (to account both for ebay buyers being somewhat fartfaces comparatively, and for Ebay's intensely increasing fees). Feel free to make offers, I will give consideration to anything reasonable. I'm a good guy and a good seller, I pack nicely and ship quick, and describe everything honestly. Smoke and pet free home. And if anybody who deals game selling for a living wants to make a reasonable enough offer for the while kit and caboodle, of course let me know. Thanks for looking everyone!
  16. And you could argue that maybe they didn't want to consult a 7800 expert on the subject because of the slant that would create; there are lots of people who would defend their favorite console's launch to the death just because they personally love it so much (IMO a bit like Volkswagen afficianados like my Dad). But even with that taken under consideration, the perspective of the article and what they've got to say are not only factually incorrect in places as has been pointed out, but simply not reasonable given how the 7800 launch games are viewed by the general populace of classic gamers (big fans of the 7800 or not). This article's complete and utter failure to caputre what they're purporting to capture with the article is a real blemish on their reputation.
  17. Damn, after checking this thread I'm motivated to get a copy for 2600. Not half bad, considering the hardware. Quite an achievement, and fun to play to boot! Anyone got a reasonably good condition CIB one they want to sell me?
  18. I've seen that one listed for some time, I think the seller relists it when it expires. I know the North American silver box Subterranea CIB has been selling for incredibly insane amounts of $; perhaps that's not the case with the PAL one. Great game.... I'd love a box & Inst. to go with my cart only copy... but not for $300. Or even $100.
  19. Bump for many added items, change of shipping charge, reduction of prices on lots of stuff.
  20. Just some personal favorites there...
  21. I can see what they're saying, but I've got to agree with the defense of the 7800 lineup as well; those three are fantastic arcade ports for the 7800, some of my favorites for the system.
  22. Thanks folks who bought stuff and made offers! All items sold or soon to be on Ebay or kept in my collection.
  23. Don't worry about your fighting game skills, rmaerz. MK2 is a complete bee-hatch, AI wise on any difficulty. It cheats like such a bastard, with its ability to throw you (from nearly any distance, seemingly) but with your complete inability to throw the computer, ever, whether it's blocking or not.... And the way Mileena cheats is such a frustrating experience.... I love the game, don't get me wrong. But that AI is just way beyond broken. I enjoy it for ambiance more than anything.
