  1. How does it connect to the CV or ADAM? Are there cables required, or does it slide into the expansion slot on the right of the console?
  2. Controllers can be had for cheap. Probably cheaper than you would pay shipping to get them to you. I'd recommend checking your pawns or flea markets. If you're willing to tell your general vicinity, others who live near you may be willing to meet you locally. In all these cases, you would also be able to tell what you're getting before you make your purchase.
  3. Ditto on this. Interested in your device. *hopes you've gotten your prototype back*. If not, do you have schematics so you can at least reproduce? What is the current status? Still on hold?

    CX10 vs CX40?

I am on the CX-40 side of the fence. The 10's are very mushy, button and joystick, and way too much motion required. The 40's are stiffer (which is my only real complaint), but I don't have to move the stick 3 feet for it to register. I'm lucky ... I accidentally got a set of CX-10's in a purchase I made. After cleanup, almost minty fresh, including all the paint and no scratches! The only thing they're missing is the badge at the top of the stick. So I'm happy collectionwise.
  5. Homer, I think you made a valiant attempt at explaining the differences. True, I tend to think new collectors will not find the video outright (especially if it's not posted prominently), but whenever they inquire about the differences, they can easily be pointed to this thread. Most of their questions can be answered in a period of the time it takes to watch the video, rather than them posting multiple threads (as, admittedly, I did when I was trying to figure things out). Now, it would be nice for a sister video also, showing what the Sears models look like. Since my childhood I haven't seen one of those firsthand.
  6. Ok, now I take that as a no. I'm glad I verified my understanding. I'll have to think about what I want to do with the console. Maybe trade for services from Yurkie, or for a power supply for my ADAM.
  7. Im taking your answer as yes. Im just clarifying and verifying. I have a full ADAM, not the expansion mod 3. The CV is just a CV, without the power supply. Will the printer connect directly, or will modification be required?
  8. I just won the following CV on eBay: eBay Auction -- Item Number: 110590973726 I took a chance on it primarily for the controllers, as I need some for my ADAM (damn it, they're not beige!), and the carts, as I have none to test my ADAM with. However, this CV does not come with a power supply. When I get it it would be nice to know if it works. Otherwise I won't go through the all-nighter of cleaning it. I know CV power supplies will work well enough to power the CV cart portion of the system. Is the power from the ADAM printer compatible with the CV?
  9. Ok. I must have missed it. I'll look again next opportunity.
  10. I've been looking around for an instruction manual for the ADAM in digital form. I've not run across any on the INet, and didn't see one in NIAD's package.
  11. He could also argue that he is selling his services and physical media the rom and emulator are provided on, rather than the files themselves. Depending on the licensing the roms and emulator are released under he may still be within his rights to sell them for a profit. For instance, if the emulator is under the GPL license he would not be allowed to sell the software for profit. But the providing service and media he could charge for.
  12. Exasperated GASP!! SACRILAGE, I TELL YOU! The one and only DDP game I ever owned on my ADAM ... And you overwrite them, discarding their data goodness for your own evil pleasures?!?! Send me one and all shall be forgiven.
  13. It is already registered/owned by Albert and it directs the user to the main AtariAge page. That was what I was getting at. You'd just need to convince Albert to redirect it appropriately.
  14. What about licensing issues with the prepopulated carts? Technically, whoever distributes the populated carts would be subject to licensing for the games they include. Maybe most licensing has lapsed for many of the older systems, but I think that's a grey area at best. The flash carts are not difficult to set up if you know how to copy files. The cart seller doesn't hxve to worry about licensing, and the owner can set up the cart to their liking.
  15. I can see it as an interesting split. But as I'm pretty sure the coleco community is quite a bit smaller than the Atari one, building a sister site to Atariage.com would be a pretty good fit. Or ... possibly take the colecoage.com and send it directly to the CV/ADAM forum on atariage.com. That way the forum and store infrastructure of atariage is already available. Due to the colecoage.com name, easily there would be more internet exposure. AND atariage would benefit also. With Albert's ok, minimal work would be required.

  17. Why doesn't this kind of stuff ever happen to me? I go to yard sales and all they ever have are clothes, dishes and toys.
  18. I don't think anyone said it's not functional. Looks to be in pretty good shape. His dilemma was whether to hold on to it until he could set it up, or let it go to someone who can use it now.
  19. Got to agree with the zoning out thing. You can really rack up if you can Zen. It's amazing how much better at gameplay your instincts and subconscience are than your conscious play.
  20. Forgive the ignorance, but is the cart actually made of soap? If so, that's pretty cool! My first thought was that it is a contact cleaner for your console. By the way, happy birthday!
  21. I think it's mostly people that leave them out in the sunlight (computers by the window)... That'll do more damage colorwise than just about anything.. Luckily there's Retrobrite now.. I have a few systems I have to try that on... desiv ... or plain heat. My ADAM lived for a 1 to 2 years in my smoke-free house, out of the way of any windows before it was removed to my grandparent's attic for 25 years. And it did get hot up there. The spacebar on the keyboard is the only key discolored, a nice dark beige-brown. I guess it was made of a different plastic, as the rest of the keyboard, and the ADAM chassis did not suffer the same discoloration.
  22. There's a Colecovision forum in the Classic Gaming General forum. Maybe you should consider investing in a Colecovision?
  23. As I have an ADAM, and not the CV, I am looking for the matching beige ones. If I'm not able to find the beige ones, I suppose I'll be forced to use the black ones. Desiv, that looks like a fine setup you have there. I am jealous. May I ask what country you live in? I'd imagine just the shipping out of country on that monster would be a lot.
  24. If you? decide to part it out, I'm in the market for a set of original Adam controllers in good condition. I also believe djpubba is in the market for a functioning console, and I think he'd pay well for it.
