  1. With that attitude you're not going to get laid often. But don't worry honey, I'll still respect you in the morning.
  2. Don't feel guilty. Sometimes there's not time or space, and the best thing you can do is give it up. You could try to sell it here on the Marketplace. Or you can just mail it straight to me. Either way you'd probably be assured it'd get a good home. Selling it on ebay, not so sure its fate. I have a working, but currently useless Adam, as I have no joysticks, ddps or carts for it. Any chance you'd be willing to part?
  3. NIAD, I found some apparent discrepencies in your updates I'd like to see if we can iron out. In Update 1, there is a folder named "Roms". Not "Roms - Colecovision & ADAM". At first glance I'd be tempted to just dump the new files into the existing "Roms - Colecovision & ADAM" folder, except that it also contains some BIOS roms, and I'm not sure what's intended there. In Update 4, the folder "Software - ADAM E.O.S. & CP-M / E.O.S /Utility" is introduced, whereas there is a folder named "Software - ADAM E.O.S. & CP-M / E.O.S /Utilities" from the original archive. Was it intended that these be merged? I haven't dove real deep in the archive yet, but as I do, I'll try to document anything that appears weird. I must say, you've done a great deal of work here, and I commend you. I'd like to say I'm more anal than you when it comes to cataloging, but I think we're in a tie.
  4. After downloading all those files, I found I had a couple of corrupted ones. It took me a little while to determine which, but I found them, and replaced them. I have been successful at decompressing each archive and applying all updates. As there has thus far been no MD5 to check the files with, I am providing them here: 12943037217f3146574b5556ba1aaaec ADAM Collection - Update #01.zip 81eda142dacc31f5c70726b083d0f3f0 ADAM Collection - Update #02.zip a3b2170629e25f609f39edd12cd6f21b ADAM Collection - Update #03.zip 6c75ec1572dd6f781424fb3a059273a3 ADAM Collection - Update #04.zip cf0615a8d7141f76c16a4cd8ee7ef4f5 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z01 d1ee05c7782bfee7a6f066c4a30189fe Coleco-ADAM Collection.z02 947d0896c9cf01805a020076872518bc Coleco-ADAM Collection.z03 2114ff03e57d7d15dc41cebd79ce17a6 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z04 d946b3d2f60842aef8ba85f019d4de62 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z05 d488d4a499a804a9a8db086df9276d46 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z06 5c5d4dc3b44a83d6009a08a19bdf79e0 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z07 f48b033295151074234eafac165b8997 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z08 245ff33d03929ca8cbaecd14d42e7864 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z09 670f41f5a17e062d264e2489e1ab08b7 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z10 02e6786966c5fd4e82f3ead7cd0936f2 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z11 acd7f5feef270e782a981a2a849d4319 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z12 314edb9640c5f883ca6bc43e95b8b78b Coleco-ADAM Collection.z13 f10d2e4aa2b8802a415e186c4f40c1d8 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z14 c6f56bf49c81f371ae0d3f4e85c53c4d Coleco-ADAM Collection.z15 6bb6c5b4a31c688b2a60967f7db7fbd1 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z16 bc833a8124bf695bb636e22abb1bb472 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z17 bb6114df5add183a56bcf17d5d684b96 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z18 50c0c68bddff8049bb387692bd8fa881 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z19 f4e46e0abb80427f2b1c78a56c643271 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z20 78893b325f4492a5bb06f96f1a50e6fc Coleco-ADAM Collection.z21 7ceecfaf5fd890169e56966ead0fe5ad Coleco-ADAM Collection.z22 f7b65382b867c78bfff5a19f2c638759 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z23 1f111632f3c3475f7be845fc8b7b4a96 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z24 0ac69280254db332a282fc0cd04f3009 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z25 80198906e6be61816a8bbc288007dadb Coleco-ADAM Collection.z26 10c4e4bf7337ada53fededd3713aae56 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z27 89f7a8164e895275ac49f135090a9664 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z28 34cd040213b1fd33188adef7593f3a57 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z29 b3491e4ea26cfb9eed3b1ed43345b1ad Coleco-ADAM Collection.z30 3f9c064f79d8ceb8a69b6f8abf44d0db Coleco-ADAM Collection.z31 b4dc056b70698e7c47067e7a1fffff1f Coleco-ADAM Collection.z32 d3303e74bdd9a5499e641955bdbda8a1 Coleco-ADAM Collection.z33 97a628d2ef47b1939367b1a3041c1ae2 Coleco-ADAM Collection.zip e7efa75d1457b4239372f571946a1dfe Corrupted Files - 4 Fixed.zip If you have question as to which of your files may be damaged, you can check your MD5sum against this list.
  5. Hehe! My wife went into the marriage knowing she was marrying a geek. And with that geek comes all the geekdom I can muster. I wouldn't trade her for anything. But she does control the cash, which is probably a good thing.
  6. BINGO, methinks. If it's a Vader, it's a newer unit, and may not have had much play time. In my experience, while stiff, they don't typically take a whole lot of movement to register, so there's a tradeoff.
  7. * has downloaded all but .z33 file. Is impatiently waiting for it to become available again. * I would like to extend thanks to NIAD and others here for their diligent work on building their packages. And even more so for their willingness to share their works with us. THANK YOU! Now, I just need to get some hardware to make all this work! I don't have the Ultimate SD card. The wife says "heck no, it's too expensive". I don't have any controllers for my ADAM. The wife says "heck no, it's too expensive". I would love to see the outcome of the ADAM SD drive by user ELSE. Wanna bet what my wife will say?
  8. Cool controller! Only problem is I'm emulating Atari, NES, SNES, Genesis and others. That controller would not work for most of those, and is also not compact for travel.
  9. I'm researching emulators in Linux. Has anyone here experimented with or used xmess or sdlmess? If so, what do you think about them?
  10. If mark_coleco hasn't already sent it to you, I will ASAP. Prep for 4.2g dl.
  11. Mark_Coleco, Thank you very much! That was exactly what I was looking for! DL'd, and now the fun begins!
  12. I'm somewhat new here. Thus far I've not seen any disrespect around here. You're in a good place. It'd be best to have a voltmeter available to check your power supply on. The tip of the supply is positive, and the shaft is negative. It should have a voltage of AT LEAST 9v, and will likely go well into the teens. Verify both your Atari and TV are on channel 3. Line in will not work. Do you get a black screen when you power on? If so, you're getting power. If static, no power, or the RF modulator. Have you cleaned your cartridge contacts?
  13. I love you. You wouldn't happen to know if there are scans or OCRs available, would you?
  14. Very good information, NIAD! I appreciate it all! Question about the Colecovision Ultimate SD Cartridge. Is it basically the same as the Harmony Cart for Atari, but for Coleco, allowing all of your Coleco games to be compiled into one physical cartridge? If so, that would be EXCELLENT, except for the part where my wife gingerly asks where $129 went, then brings out the shotgun when I tell her the truth ... Yep, I'll just have to lie. Is there a place I can download a copy of the original ADAM manual for viewing? I'm not sure the tech manual is what I'm looking for. Just looking for an operations manual. And I'll also look up this Else guy and see what he's got coming ...
  15. As a kid, I was introduced to computer programming with the ADAM. I can't remember the name of the magazine, but my dad got a monthly subscription to one that had a bunch of BASIC programs listed out that you could type into the computer. They ranged from simple little graphic programs that drew out a smiley to phonebook management programs. I looked at a couple of issues of Compute! magazine, but I don't see any programs there. Anyway, wondering if maybe someone can point out the name of the magazine?
  16. Looking to purchase the following for my ADAM, in good cosmetic and funtional condition: - 2 Adam controllers (prefer beige). Depending on price, willing to consider black Coleco versions. Also, if only one controller available, may be ok, too. - Working copy of SMARTBasic - Blank data tapes Also, in the market for some games (Coleco) to play. Of course, need the controllers to play the games!
  17. I didn't read through the whole thread, but maybe you could set up some sort of state requirements at startup for the demos to work. For instance, joystick must be in up-left position and fire pressed at power up time, otherwise the cart pretends to be dead, rendering it useless to the thief and any potential buyers.
  18. Dupe post. Using my Droid, and somehow double saved.
  19. Asteroids was definitely my game of choice back in the day. I rolled it whenever I wanted. I was 8-10 at the time. Remember playing late one night and rolling it multiple times (3 or more) and eventually just getting tired and turning it off.
  20. Tell us how they work. I've heard they are prone to interferrence from modern systems such as wireless networks.

  22. Does that $40 include shipping? I've been looking for a solution like this. Also, does it provide the needed power to run the tape and other components? I've read that some PS without proper -5v will only power the cart functionality. I'm interested in running the entire system. Thank you.
  23. Great news (for me, anyway)! Finished cleaning and reassembling. It fired up first time turned on in 25 years, went to the word processor, and works like a champ! Happy camper! Now I just need to figure out what to do with it, but I've continued that foray in a new thread here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/168804-my-adam/
  24. Not to pick a fight, but I do not see that as a valid argument for placing the B/W switch on the front. In your example it seems that would be the least used switch on the console, unless the console was travelling between color and b/w TVs.
