So how many people here do not drink the Atari koolade?
SlowCoder replied to macgoo's topic in Classic Console Discussion
All of my consoles, Atari, Colecovision, Intellivision, Sega, Nintendo, etc., get love at my house. I couldn't say any one of them gets more love than the others. It just depends on what I'm in the mood for when I sit to play. -
And it's rqeally not a harmful spark. Some people use "the spark" to test that a power supply is working.

I play this game like I play real golf. Barely ever, and I'm always in the rough.

That's rather a bummer. I know you've been looking forward to this thing. Out of curiosity, what makes you think the adapter isn't interchangeable? Chance of pics of both consoles and adapters? Specifically the back of the consoles so we can see the plugs. Does the H6 adapter work on the L6?

I've enjoyed reading your blogs. Thank you for doing this!

And if its going to be nice, it may as well be REALLY nice.

In need of some Colecovision technical expertise...

Sounds like a valiant attempt was made. Good job! -
To walkthrough or not walkthrough?
SlowCoder replied to JohnnyRockets's topic in Classic Console Discussion
A walkthrough is extremely helpful for games like the Sierra Quest series from the 80's/90's, when the manual, or even a hint book, is not available. Gosh, some of the solutions could NEVER be guessed without them. With shooters, I'll generally try to go for a couple days before "cheating". -
Actually, there is no difference in the metal shielding between a light and a heavy sixer. The difference in weight is primarily in the bottom half of the plastic chassis. The metal shielding was changed when they went from the sixers to the fours.

Anything built the last 20 years is not built to last. Lucky to get 5 years from medium-tasked unit.

Very cool! I like your documentation of the games and kills. Funny what a game idea will do. That thread seems to have spurred a few people's interest in Rogue, including me. I played it many years ago, and again started playing this last week after reading the thread. Made it all the way up to level 17. But I'll admit I was save-cheating. I started playing NetHack in the last 3 days. It's a lot of fun, and REALLY FRUSTRATING! This time I'm not save-cheating. I've managed about level 5 so far. By the way, on FibroFreak78's game, the room with all the monsters and items is called a vault. They're pretty rare. I've never personally found one.

Is it on discount? I've been paying $30.

Finally completing the "collection".
SlowCoder replied to JohnnyRockets's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I like the way you put that. -
Finally completing the "collection".
SlowCoder replied to JohnnyRockets's topic in Classic Console Discussion
When I came here at first, I was a fledgling collector. I was only looking to collect for the 2600. Over the next few months, I found out about other systems like the "visions", and eventually decided to check them out. They're worth it, if you're interested. -
35% of Gamers Prefer Buying Games Online
SlowCoder replied to Mendon's topic in Modern Console Discussion
Sad, but ultimately that way of things. Eventually we will be totally digital download. We, the real retrogamers, comprise only .009% of the voice in modern society. As far as books go, I have shelves of books. Most of them will be lucky to ever be read again. Is it worthy holding on to them when I could otherwise use true space? My wife has a Nook, and she loves it. My problem with Nook vs. Kindle is that you're tied to a certain retailer to buy books. And if the device dies and you don't still have an account you can access, you're S.O.L. I'm on the fence as to whether I'd prefer a real paper book, or an electronic device. -
Me Tarzan. You rock. You Tarzan, TGA the vine you swing from!

Well, it wouldn't be proper to actually post the ROM files themselves, but it sounded like me if you were looking for the end-all-be-all of ROM lists. Then you, on your own, could go out looking for the ROM files yourself.

You rock.

I doubt there'd be any sort of warranty, especially since you've had it for over a year. But I'd try to IM Albert and see what he recommends. Since you've got it open, you could always try re-soldering a little to see if it helps. I do remember one time someone complaining about the SD holder coming undone. But I don't remember if that was a Harmony, or another flash cart.

Have you tried it on a different Atari? The fact that you reseat it and it works kind of sounds like it's not making good connection. Or maybe the power on the Atari is failing and not providing enough juice to run the Harmony reliably.
