  1. Depending on the condition of the console, and as long as it includes the power supply and controllers, not a bad deal at all. Gonna tantalize the the OP without posting a hint to the location of the auction?
  2. I only got started in Atari about 2 years ago. When I first started, eBay prices seemed reasonable enough. Over the course of the next while, seems that prices have skyrocketed. Can't really figure why other than people getting greedier. I wouldn't call sixers rare, but to find one in good working order and cosmetic shape on eBay, you'll pay for it. Seems to me resellers have found this niche, and are now taking advantage of it. Glad I got my stash when I did.
  3. First thought: "Pick-n-Flick", a new Nose Nuggets game from RevEng!
  4. Hatta did an excellent job explaining it. Also, antialiasing takes a bit of processing, and older systems like the 2600 simply couldn't have done it in a time effective manner.
  5. Too bad the OP didn't request more specific information. Due to the generalized nature of the question, I assumed he's a noob and just wanted to know what how to tell them apart.
  6. Ha! 11 and 5. I do hope that's not the case.
  7. We were going out of town to my wife's parent's house this weekend. It's my wife's birthday, you see, and we're having home-cooked prime rib ... I wasn't going to miss that! Sometimes we bring one of my older consoles to play, usually a Nintendo, or maybe a 2600. This time, however, my son told me he wanted to bring PONG! Knowing my kids, that's a little bit of a surprise. Anyway, I wasn't about to go disconnecting my Sears Pong 4-player (simply for the fact that it's semi-permanently connected and it would have been a pain). So I grabbed my APF TV Fun console from the closet. Since it's been restored and cleaned up, it's been stored. So this was it's opportunity. Here are a couple of pics of the kids playing the game (and semi-getting along for once, which is a treasure all its own) ... Just thought I'd share.
  8. Friendly correction: It is the thicker plastic case that makes the H6 heavier. The internal shielding is the same for both the H6 and the L6. When/if you decide to get one, visit our marketplace forum here. I'm sure someone can sell you one at a good price.
  9. I've only collected a few 2600's over the last couple of years. I think I came out lucky to get the single pair of CX-10's I do have, especially with their original paint not being worn off. However, they don't have the hex discs.
  10. I never even heard of the CV until about 2 years ago. I decided to get one to see what it was about, and have enjoyed it. It gets about the same play time as all my other consoles.
  11. Simply, one working 2600 is better than 2 broken ones.
  12. Not counting Sears 2600 clones? Well, that sucks considering they're exactly the same functionwise. Since we're sticking with Atari branded, I'd say 8ish? If you want to count the Sears, add 4.
  13. Check this thread: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/205288-for-sale-ps2-slim-now-pending/ It's a full PS2 with all cables, $25 shipped. Pending sale, but you may have a chance, since the pending buyer hasn't responded. I don't know if the power cord is compatible with the thick model or not.
  14. Hey! Hold them horses there, bub! Don't throw out all the good eggs just due to one bad egg in the basket! Wanna guess where I live?
  15. Whoever it is may have gone on vacation. Hopefully you will hear from them soon.
  16. They removed the PS2 compatibility while PS2s were still being sold in stores. I think it was more that they wanted to still sell the PS2 consoles, than the games. But you're right ... greedy bastages!
  17. I guess they copy protected the disc for standards sake. Can't see why they'd need to otherwise, as you'd still need the GBP hardware for it to work.
  18. Has anyone burned a GBP disc from ISO? I'm thinking of getting a miniDVD-R pack and giving it a go. Anything I should know before I attempt? Specs, etc.?
  19. I wouldn't mind getting my hands on a disc. I got the hardware "free" with a GC. Sadly no disc. After that, I'd get some flash carts. I'd imagine, if the disc wasn't required, the player would revive a GC with dead CD drive.
  20. The Flashback 1, on the other hand ... bleh ... Not a bad console, but also not up to snuff when compared to the FB2 and FB3. Unlike the FB1, the FB2 and 3 can be converted to play actual cartridges ... OR EVEN BETTER, to install a Harmony cart internally so downloaded game ROMs can be played. The big benefit of this is that the FB consoles are physically small and easily portable.
  21. Tell you what, you pay for shipping both ways, and I'll see what I can do to bring that thing back to life. Unless there's a major part broken, I won't charge for general cleaning/refurb. I would want to receive all important parts, including power supply, console, cables and controllers. Would also like you to send me all of your games. I'll give it all my own touch. See my console/controller cleanup thread here: http://www.atariage.com/forums/topic/184296-slowcoders-guide-to-cleaning-up-your-2600/ and my cleanup video: to see the detail I go to. For honesty sake, I've rebuilt quite a few consoles, but all of them are my own. You'd be the first person I've done this service for. I could use a downtime project. I'm sure a few members here can give you positive references about me. If you're interested let me know and we'll sort out the other details.
  22. Please learn to cut your posts. I don't have time or interest in reading such long content. I did not read more than a couple paragraphs. There are different reasons for people to write software. They may view it as a challenge. Maybe it's how they learn a language. They may see it as a way to make some money. Or they may just want to give back to their community. Not all of it is for profit.
  23. @gardenmaniac Most of the most common problems are easily fixed, even for someone with limited technicjal skills. Probably just a good cleaning. We are always available to answer questions. If you decided to ship it to someone here to fix (there are plenty of us with knowledge on it) you'd have to consider shipping and payment for services, unless whoever did it went gratis. Is it worth it to you? You'd also probably want to send us your games to be cleaned, as that is an important part of the process.
