  1. Yeah, I have ALMOST that exact shelf also, except the bins are primary colors ... not Shades of Easter. Stole it from kids room, but kids kept the bins. I use these baskets: http://www.walmart.com/ip/Rubbermaid-Slide-N-Stack-Stacking-Basket-in-White/16664773
  2. No question is a dumb question unless it's an unasked question. Though I use a Harmony cart mostly, my regular carts are stored in stackable trays. The trays are open, and easily carried. No need to get up to go to the "shelf" each time I want to swap games.
  3. Yeah, I found my last on in the wild. When my GW guy called me and told me he had one I was like "WHAT?!?, are you sure it's a CV?"
  4. Wow ... I'm gone for a few days, and suddenly there's a whole lot of infighting. Breathe deep guys, and realize we're not always going to agree. But just because we don't agree doesn't mean we should sling mud.
  5. That's a bummer. Regardless of how easy it is to get another component, its always a shame when one croaks.
  6. I'll admit to my ignorance ... But the chick is cute. If I wasn't married I might say something like "she can play my violin and dubstep all over me as much as she wants." But I am married, so I won't say that.
  7. That was an actual LOL. I really did laugh out loud! *wipes tears from cheeks*
  8. "Calm ...calm ..." *waves hands in a relaxing motion and smiles kindly* I was responding to KidQuaalude's post, not yours. But since you mention it, your argument to my argument about the Interstate is a nonpoint. What does whether it was designed for it have to do with the fact that traffic is random? The same argument could be made for city traffic. Here's another thing to think about. Auto racing. 2 guys pull up to a start line. One of them has a 200HP Mustang, the other a 120HP Civic. Somehow the Civic smashes the Mustang. Why? Because maybe the Civic driver, though he had a lower powered car, had the skill to drive, whereas the Mustang driver didn't so much. I think the differences in the stats of the cars could relate to "randomisation", and the driver's skill is the ability to overcome the randomisation. And are you sure Tetris was never designed for multiplayer? I'm sure I saw 2 player arcade cabinets at the arcade.
  9. Dang it. Right when I STILL don't have the money!
  10. If I read that right, it sounds like you're saying the Interstate was badly designed because you don't know where the cars will be. In contrary to your statement, Tetris is a prime example of great randomization. The opponents in Tetris are time and randomization. The player must gain the skill to defeat both of these opponents for as long as possible, whether they are tossed "lucky bricks" or not. Games like Tetris would get old very fast. Tetris would probably have been forgotten 20 years ago had it not been for randomization.
  11. I'm a semi-engineering type. And this statement is fairly true. It's easy to burn out, especially when nothing is moving forward. I've "gone silent" before, taken the needed time to breathe, then returned to most endeavors.
  12. I realize it's been a couple weeks since this thread was started, but I think people are jumping to conclusions. As far as I can tell, he was upstanding here at AA. What ever may or may not have happened is simply conjecture until someone is successful in contacting him. Let's be careful how we deal with this until facts are known.
  13. I need to drag my APF TV Fun out for some play time to keep that corrosion from building up ...
  14. I think finding something like that is just awesome. If I found my 2600 console and games from my kidhood, I'd clean it all up, and find some way to display it all. I don't know if I'd even want to play it! Though, at this point, I'm POSITIVE it was all thrown out before we moved 20 years ago. I was lucky enough to find that our old ADAM was recovered from my grandparents attic a couple years ago after having disappeared in the early 80's without explanation from my parents to me. A good cleaning and it works! But never gets used. Actually, it never gets used because I don't really have a place to hook it all up, and all of the original software was apparently lost/trashed a long time ago.
  15. Just about any game that can't be saved would probably be horrible. Imagine trying to beat Mario on NES if it was random every time you turned on your console. At least for games where there's a definite end to reach. Not so bad for high score games.
  16. Yep, most likely. By that time, they're probably just looking for an excuse to break it off. My wife has always been very understanding of my interests, however childish they may be, and I thank her for that. Not that she would have, but I made it very clear that no one but me would dictate what I would and would not do with my hobbies. In the same way, I respect her hobbies and interests, whether I'm interested in them or not. She works on her scrapbooking and decorating stuff, and I play games, and work on and race my cars. It works out well.
  17. 1. Not very large in comparison to some of you hoarders! I manage to keep it confined primarily to my man cave. 2. Try to keep it relatively neat. Does a walking path through the rubble count? 3. Oh, yeah. I don't go looking for stuff much any more. So I probably spend maybe $20-30/mo on average, including cleaning and maintenance materials. 4. Well, hu hu ... pretty well. 5. Uh ... what? LOL at that! I haven't done that in a long time, but I definitely know what you mean!
  18. I bought All 4 One so I could play with the kids. It's fun, but it's hard to keep the kids working as a team, and they're about done with each other after about 30 minutes. As such, the game is a bit less than enjoyable for me after about 15 minutes.
  19. If you're lucky enough they actually still have the PS2 versions in their cases. If you have a PS3, you can get the collection. Otherwise, I'd hit up eBay for them. I got the first 3 for PS2 for $30 total a few years ago. I've definitely gotten my money's worth out of them, especially now that my children are playing them also.
  20. Very awesome! I can tell you've increased the patterns! You listed Genesis, but don't say if it's model 1 or 2. No pic either.
  21. Once again, I did not read through the entire initial post. Just too long. I think it would be nice to see more randomisation, but HAS ANYONE ASKED A DEV WHY THEY HAVEN'T INCLUDED IT? There may be reasons that have been thought through during the internal game design process that could explain why randomisation isn't included. Maybe it's too difficult to randomise a level because it could potentially make that level too complex or unbeatable. Or maybe they need to ensure a specific series of events MUST happen in a certain order, that couldn't be guaranteed by randomising it. The point made by Protoplasym that game devs don't want to include it because gamers may not want to buy the next version, was a good one. On the other hand, maybe the devs figure most players will play that game one time through, and not again, before moving on to the next game. Therefore randomising isn't needed compared to the time/money they'd have to put into the development of the randomising element. I do think some games could DEFINITELY use randomisation; most specifically, multiplayer FPSs. It would definitely level the playing field (double-entendre) , allowing newcomers a better chance to compete, and keeping the "elite" players from camping in their favorite sniping locations.
  22. * is bored, yet lethargic at the same time *

  23. If I was going to try something like this, I certainly wouldn't have used a perfect case for it. As much chopping as they had to do to make it. The Game Reset switch operates to reset the PC. The Power switch was swapped with a momentary (Select?).
  24. Yeah, I was browsing Wired.com and ran on this article. I'd have thought the info here would have been so much better. *raised eyebrow * http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Fix_Your_Broken_NES Specifically, I'm talking about the sections on cleaning the cartridges ... So much wrong ...
