  1. Is it a good idea to grease the pots? Di-electric grease?
  2. I've purchased some di-electric grease for the electrical components of my systems. I would like to know if there's an issue with using the grease to also lubricate moving parts in my controllers. For instance, I've got a couple of N64 controllers that still have pretty good joysticks. I'd like to grease them so they don't wear out as fast (they apparently have a bad habit of wearing out very quick). Is there a best grease to lubricate these types of components with? Is the di-electric grease I have ok?
  3. That's called marketting. If you can't find one with more than 4, you'll just have to go out and spend more money on another one, right?
  4. I've tried it with and without the Atari cartridge installed. It defaults to Atari when the cartridge is inserted. Without the Atari cartridge inserted, I get a black screen, whether or not a CV cartridge is inserted.
  5. Agreed. On top of that, I have kids who play on their own. So it needs to be as simple as possible. Recabling each time would not be an optimal solution.
  6. Damn! You were at my house last night???
  7. Not necessarily true. The Atari 2600 apparently doesn't have a strong enough signal to flip the autoswitchers. And I don't think I've ever seen a TV with more than 2 composite connections.
  8. Interested in seeing what you guys here at AA are willing to sell your IntV's for. I'm interested primarily in the IntV 1, or one of it's variants. Not interested in IntV 2. This will be a starter collection for me, as I have never owned one, so I would like to include games, but will entertain just the IntV if the price is good.
  9. What is the difference between the IntV 1 and the Super Pro System?
  10. I just received the expansion #1. I play with it for a while, and do like it! I would like to know if there is a way to play my CV games without first removing the expansion from the CV?
  11. Care to share the link? I'm interested! Would I be correct that the cabinet is custom? I like it very much! It's a bit spread out for me, but it looks very functional for your systems! And that item on top that that looks like a sideways monitor, what is that?
  12. I have found that there are actually 4 treasures to every find. Especially when dealing with older retro stuff. 1. Finding the package at the door. Follows is the anticipation of opening the box, and wondering if it works. 2. Plugging it in to find it does work! I usually do this first so I won't waste my time on the next treasure ... though I've been really lucky so far (KNOCKS REALLY HARD ON WOOD!) 3. Most of my finds have been in real need of a cleanup. So for me,working the transformation from dust, spiderweb and whatever else you can imagine, to clean and spiffy, is the third treasure. 4. Sitting down with your spiffed up, working find is the 4th. Enjoying your evening's work, playing with it.
  13. I made a mistake in my initial list. I'm actually sharing the same composite input between my NES and N64. Other than that, I have 5 systems connected, not including my cable box on HDMI. What I'm looking to do is be able to expand. And the information I'm looking for is, what kinds of switch boxes people are using, and why are they using those particular models. I don't want to disconnect my cables when I change consoles. Here's the big plan ... There are many switchers that are capable of switching multiple types of connections (RF, composite, component). The problem with these boxes is that they are only able to switch between any one connection. For instance, I can't connect all my systems to a single switchbox using their native connections and expect to just set my TV to the proper input for that console and press the proper switchbox button.
  14. I'm pretty sure mine was a Sears Heavy 6. I had Pac Man, Asteroids, Donkey Kong, Math, Chess, Air-Sea Battle, Hang Man. I'm pretty sure the first game to slice into that system was Pac Man. Of course I had friends who had the other games like Combat, Dragster, Pitfall, etc.
  15. Here's a list of the game systems I currently have connected to my TV: Atari 2600 (RF) NES (Composite) N64 (Composite) Wii (Component) PS2 (Component) PS3 (HDMI) Not yet connected/planning to add: ColecoVision (RF) Intellivision in the somewhat near future (RF?), Atari 7800 (RF?) Perhaps an SNES and GameCube, and whatever else suits my fancy. I can buy switch boxes for each connection type, which is easy enough (RF, composite, component). I'd like to hear what you guys have done. I'm sure I'm not the only person with this configuration. I'm looking for style and quality, but at the low, low price of "cheap". What types of boxes do you have? Why do you like them? All that jazz ...
  16. Easily the best one out there, rarityguide is horrible. u don't say? Apparently he does, and I agree.
  17. All you should need is some high percentage Isopropyl alcohol (90%+) and cotton swabs, a phillips screwdriver, and a pair of needlenose pliers. And, thanks for the props to all of us!
  18. Then I shall seek out the IntV v1 when the time comes. I like the way it looks much better than the v2, anyway!
  19. Oh, uh ... In that case ... dang. * Returns to post #7, attempts to erase "Madaracs" to replace with "PixelBoy". * It would appear that pink eraser on my LCD doesn't erase digital ink. And at this point, neither does trying to click the edit button. Darn!
  20. Thank you, jaybird! Great responses! Next questions ... 1. What is the functional difference between the IntV and IntV2? If the IntV2 played different games, was it backward compatible with the IntV? 2. Would you recommend the IntV or the IntV2? 3. Is there a multi cart available?
  21. Not to degrade my own thread any lower than it already is, but ... Old folks need lovin', too. Albeit, a bit more carefully. How's that saying go... "One man's garbage is another man's gold". BETTER ADD THIS EDIT: Madaracs, please don't think I'm calling your mother garbage!!! Well, well! I wouldn't have suspected NIAD to step into this thread! Nice! Me either, Madaracs. I was just picking on you since you started the whole "missing word" game. Anyway ... back on track ... I loosened the screw, as recommended, until the switch was loose enough, so that solves my little issue. Thank you Yurkie for the technical insight (I'd actually thought of that, but hadn't tried it), and to the rest of you for adding humor to my day!
  22. Yes, one of the biggest mistakes people made back in '83 was to leave a data pack in the drive when powering on or off the system. Unfortunately, a lot of people probably just assumed that since you placed the cartridge in the cart slot before turning on the system and only removed it after turning off the system, that this practice held true for data packs and later disks as well. I hate to say it, as it's been repeated by thousands of others over the years, but here I go... RTFM (read the f****n manual). Or in the ADAM's case, the included Supplement sheet for the digital data drive. I'm already aware of the issue surrounding the EMP in the ADAM. I remember killing a couple of tapes back in the day. So, that's not news. What I'm asking is, what specifically in the ADAM is producing the EMP. And, I'm asking if the CV also produces the same EMP, as they share similar CV boards?
  23. My first foray into the IntV. Considering adding one to my collection some time in the future, when I can afford. 1. I recently purchased a CV. Got lucky for the price that it worked. According to the CV guys, the failure rate of buying from eBay is pretty high. I've not yet (KNOCK ON WOOD!!!) purchased a console from eBay that was dead, at least not after a little work. What is the likelyhood of dead IntV's on eBay? 2. What is a good price for a working IntV, not including games? 3. What functionality issues are most encountered? (Video, power, etc.) 4. These IntV's must be pretty large, or heavy, based on the shipping prices I see listed (typically ~$30), where other systems (2600, CV) are typically ~$15. 5. Are there folks on this board who specialize in knowledge, modding, repair of the IntV? That should about get me started. Any other info you can contribute will be greatly appreciated.
