  1. I have a MAME and a Donkey Kong Jr cab in the living room.
  2. The only classic game store in my area closed more than 10 years ago. According to one of the employees I ran into after the closing I was one of the best customers and while I visited often I purchased little as they had little I didn't already have. They were mostly an NES store. There are no classic arcade games in the area save the ones in my living room. They could use some love at this point, but I feel the need to update them growing in myself so it is really just a matter of time. If I ever hit a large lotto winning my plan is to open a classic arcade. Mostly I know it would lose money and would have to have enough of it to be ok with that. I know of no other classic gamers in my area so the best I could hope for would be the people looking for something novel to do that day. It would be a dream come true though. The yard sale/ flea market scene dried up ages ago. The people that have classic games at the flea market are the kind that want big money for what they have and so always have more than enough to go around. No one is buying from them. I would love to have a good store near by, but it just isn't in the cards.
  3. That. Even had the area above the cab of the truck for more stuff. I filled that too. When I got to the new house we had a room that just became the game room. Like I said, I had a problem. It hasn't gotten a lot better, but it has gotten better.
  4. It was the biggest u-Haul we could rent. In my defense there were 2 arcade machines in there, so it wasn't just carts. Not sure if that makes it better or not.
  5. What does "FPGA" mean? I did a quick search and found a lot of uses so I can make an assumption, but I can't find a definition of this term. I guess I'm not up to date on my gamer lingo.
  6. It's too much when you start thinking about how hard it will be to move to a new house because of your game collection. Mine started to shrink a lot when I filled half a moving truck with video games and got some odd looks from my in-laws. It was clear I had gone too far then.
  7. Emulation has been mention a bunch here and it has made me wonder about the future of emulation. Not really of the consoles we commonly emulate now, but of consoles the kids are playing now. What will Playstation 4 or 5 emulation be like? I mean, will it even be a thing? I have to say, I don't know how anyone could collect for a system that is basically an emulation box for itself as it is, and the games are so patched and re-worked by the time they are done that getting your hands on a PS5 game in any kind of physical format might not mean much in terms of usefulness. Without access to the day one patches and fixes that are needed to make the modern game work the games may be forever unplayable. This wont only apply to the PS5, it's just the example I picked. I can certainly see how the future of classic gaming might be emulation only. The kids are already used to the idea of having the games in a digital only format. I started out wondering if the 2600 would be collected in the future, now I'm wondering if video games will be collected in the future at all.
  8. I traded with Kubus_m again and have nothing but good things to say. I'll gladly work out another deal with Kubus_m.
  9. I'm not trying to be funny, or start something negative. I'm actually wondering if collecting the older consoles will still be a thing as time passes. I'll explain my thought process some to hopefully shed some light on what I'm actually asking here. My birthday is coming up. I'm not old but I'm old enough that no one would confuse me for young (I'll be 39 this year). I have a large collection by my own standard, and no desire to get ride of it any time soon. So, getting older I have reached a point of wondering what will happen with it once I'm not longer here to take care of it and enjoy it. I have nephews and nieces that are very into video games and thanks to my involvement in their lives they have some exposure to older video games. Even so they have no interest in the older games beyond a passing curiosity. Having no kids of my own I had hoped one of them would take some interest in the older stuff and enjoy having it, even if only so as a conversation starter, when I die. Seeing no real interest in them has been a little depressing and has me wondering if anyone will be interested in stuff this old in the coming years. I don't know for sure, but I seem to be on the pretty young side of collecting VCS stuff. I know people tend to collect what they remember from their past and I have some memories of VCS age gaming because my family didn't really have the funds to upgrade to new consoles as they came out and I grew up playing my uncle's old games. So I have memories to attach the collection to. Even with my influence the children in my family are much more interested in the modern games. I don't blame them, these are the things they are growing up with. So to the other collectors in the world: do you ever wonder about these things? Do you think there will still be interest in these older games in another 20+ years at all?
  10. Just finished a trade with Kubus_m. He shipped his end well packaged and in timely fashion. I have nothing but good things to say. I would certainly trade with him again.
  11. I have a Sega Saturn collection I would like to list through here on it's way to parts unknown. If you have items you are looking to trade let me know. I like interesting stuff. I collect mostly for 2600, NES, and Genesis/CD/32x. Books/magazines/swag from these eras are always high in interest for me. This first group of games was picked up in an auction and at one time must have belonged to a rental place. They are disc only in a case like those common to rental stores of the time. All games show light use but are all playable copies. Loose Games: The Crow City of Angels (has center ring sticker from rental location) $15 Virtua Cop $3 Virtua Cop 2 $10 Sega Touring Car Championship $4 Defcon 5 $7 Blazing Dragons $8 Scud The Disposable Assassin $4 Congo The Movie The Lost City of Zinj $7 Virtua Fighter 2 $3 The Need for Speed $5 In the Hunt $45 Battle Arena Toshididen Remix $4 The Lost World Jurassic Park $4 Heir of Zendor $5 Croc $8 Spot Goes to Hollywood $5 Iron Storm $25 Rampage World Tour $25 Arcade's Greatest Hits Atari Collection $5 I'm happier to negotiate the more you are buying/trading. Shipping is on you.
  12. HERO: 47925 I never played this game before this week, and didn't get to play a lot, but I will come back to it. A handful of tricky bits stopped me from advancing, a little more time might have resulted in a large score increase.
  13. This week went by fast. I really hope to get a few more games in before the deadline but I haven't played much at all this time around. I'm just glad I grabbed a screen shot to share at all at this point. Commando: 3 Medals 6800 points
  14. Go HAM. Because the first measure is the number of medals, you don't have to worry about the points to beat most of the field. I'm sure there will be people that get all 8, but anyone that doesn't wont be able to top your score if you do. So score all the points you can, get all 8 medals and I'm feeling pretty good you will finish in the top 10 without having to worry about your score at all.
  15. I'm not an attorney, just interested in law. From what I understand you can sue damn near anyone for damn near anything. The judge can throw your case out as soon as you start talking, too. You pay the court costs and they'll let you make almost any civil case at least once. EDIT: Does anyone know where the case is being tried? If Billy is still in Florida I assume there, but it doesn't have to be. Never mind, he is just threatening to sue, not actually doing it yet.
