  1. Yeah, that looks like the same guy...

eBay Auction -- Item Number: 2809634847921?ff3=2&pub=5574883395&toolid=10001&campid=5336500554&customid=&item=280963484792&mpt=[CACHEBUSTER]

    Look at that ^ !

4k for a 2600 cart... yeeeeeeaaah, not happenin

It has happened, and is happening right this very moment. There is one cart being sold right now that is at $9000 with the reserve not met and another sold for over 10k this week. So while it might not be common, "a 2600 cart" can sell for 4k or more. Maybe not that one, but "a 2600 cart" can.

  2. I would much rather pay for the game and unlock all these 1000s of items as I play. The game looks like a lot of fun, but having to pay for every item you want will be a real pain in the ass and not something I want to get involved in.

There was another F2P game I really liked and I can't remember the name. It had Street of Rage style combat with an RPG inventory system... very cool style game with a lot to like, but if you want to enjoy the game you end up paying for all kinds of crap. Free to play? Yep! Free to really enjoy? Who knows!

  3. I had a modded xbox at one time with an N64 emulator. I can say beyond a question the xbox contorller worked much better for N64 games than the N64 controller did. As a matter of fact I might have to get another modded xbox just to play Mario 64 again. Wow, when I think of it that way it makes it really bad. I must really hate that controller more than even I thought if I'm willing to buy and mod and xbox to play N64 games I already own just to get around the controller.Yeah, thats bad.

Just found this controller. Looks like it might solve the problem with some games, but I can't imagine how it plays things like Mario 64. I might just have to get one of these to try out. Looks very interesting to be sure. This might make playing Mortal Kombat Mythologies Sub Zero much easier, and I have always like that game for some odd reason.

  4. Maybe he doesn't want to make Moises a joke. Or, on the contrary, he lost faith and don't want to spread the word.

He could just as easily do nothing on this. I can't see 100 of these selling and even that is a very small number of people in the grand scheme of things. I over looked the religion in all this to be honest so I guess that could play a role I didn't account for. Good call. You could very easily be right or very close to the truth of the matter.

I'm pretty sure all the legal talk was started just to scare other bidders away to possibly get it cheaper, good plan actually but at 10k it didn't work, lol.

Now the auctions over so we can move on and wait for reproductions.

Is anyone else thinking a Bible box would be cool?

A Bible box would be pretty cool actually. Maybe a custom shaped box that is the two tablet the 10 commandments were on. As you unfold the 2 tablets the game is suspending in the middle gate fold style.

Either way, I'm truly sorry I started this legal mess back up. Lets all hug and move along. Deal?

I have to learn to program for the 2600. I think Satan might be a bit under represented in the gaming library.

  5. I'm not lawyer, and I don't have to be right. I'll assume you know more about this than I do and let that be. This person has done nothing with this game all these years and now wants to cause a fuss. I guess I just see that as a bit of a dick move. The programmer was clearly involved in the community at some point and to a certain level. I just have a hard time seeing this person not wanting people to enjoy his game after all this time. If people were still interested in something I did that long ago I would just be happy that someone still cared. It is just beyond my understanding. Maybe he wants money out of this deal? I could at least understand that, but just not wanting it released it very odd to me and speaks to a alternative motive to me.

  6. I honestly do not buy reproductions or homebrews. I have tried to get some homebrews before but it seems I always miss them some how. I'm just interested in this being made for the hobby. I have done a lot for this hobby that doesn't benefit me, and if adding my voice to those wanting this made available helps I'm down for that.

  7. WTF, why are you clowns still going on about this, we don't even know who won it? Maybe it was that lawyer from Vegas or the car collector and you'll never see this cart again. :? This is like watching two people without arms, trying to bitchsmack each other.

Really? Clown? Bitchslaping each other? I haven't talked about this with anyone before this moment, and there is still a conversation to be had here. So how about we start over and you don't assume anything about me, and I'll just pretend you didn't say anything.

  8. If a painter paints something, and no longer owns that painting they have no rights to it. So, they create the painting, the store the painting and forget about it, someone else buys the place it is being stored 20 years later and find the painting, and sells it for a huge profit. Ownership was transfered, the painter no longer owns the painting and has no right to get paid for it because it sold. Reproduction paintings are not illegal, counterfeit painting are. There is a legal difference.

Also, if there were even legal rights registered for this game they have surely expired. That makes the game public domain. Rights to the work are given when it is programmed, but did they ever register real copy rights for this game? Have they maintained those rights to this day?

By your logic the programmer could sue because this game was sold at auction for the total amount of the auction plus damages because their work was released and they didn't want it to be. So, someone find me some copy right information on this game real fast, or its public domain, and free to share however you like.

  9. Who holds the copy right? Who has the legal right to this game? That person should just cash in on the attention this is getting and move on. After all this time with the game doing nothing if someone wants to cause a stink about legal crap in this I say that person is a prick and is only looking for fame. If the person that paid for the cart doesn't want to reproduce that is different.

It goes like this, person buys game that hasn't been seen in 20 years, person dumps game and reproduces it, programmer that never sold the game suddenly decides he should get paid for something he didn't bother to get paid for 20 years ago, judge pulls a LMFAO and closes silly case on the spot.

This would mean the person that finds one of these one of a kind internal protos has no right to the code. The programmer forever maintains soul ownership of the code forever and can sue for anything done with it? As I said in the other thread about this game, its abandonware at this point. Public domain is something to look into here.

  10. I'll admit I didn't read this entire thread. It went to a dark place and I just soft of flew over that.

I do have to wonder however, who could make a claim agaisnt a reproduction of this game? To my knowledge no one has hit the roof about reproductions like this in a legal way before, and after a certain point all things that aren't maintained become public domain. Why would this be any different. Its adandonware at best and that is legal to share. I'm missing something here I just know it.

  11. My problem with this controller is my hand doesn't fit well on the center grip. So games that use the center stick and Z button (and that seems to be most of them) are very hard for me to play for any length of time. There was a third part controller I had when the system was new that I loved, but I haven't bothered to buy one of those since I started collecting again. The N64 is pretty low on my list of systems to collect for if truth be told.

  12. Congrats to the winner and I hope GameGavel does well off this as well. I'm not sure if this got any attention yet, and I'm honestly afraid the other one making it to eBay is going to take the spot light because people know more about eBay, but regardless, this can't be a bad thing for GG... unless the sale falls through. I really hope that doesn't happen, this needs to be over now.

  13. Is this how these things always go? This is just silly to me. We are looking at 8k on two auctions and no one is going to get this game for that money? Really? Just what are you expecting from this game?

Its rare, I get that, but how much more could you hope to get from it? I thought this was all a bit out of hand, now that I'm seeing 8 grand on the table, and the sellers are turing it down. Just crazy talk.

  14. Thus all the ads and crazyness you see on ROM sites.

To get away from that, there's always the many, many roms hosted on this site ;)

I don't mind roms themselves, but software emulation really bugs me.

This site is a great place for Atari roms you are correct there. What if I wanted SNES roms? Then I find myself digging through piles and piles of ads to find the hidden "download now" link.

  15. Just who do you support?

Love them or hate them they are making some of the best games money can buy. They might have dumbed some things down, and I am with you in wishing they had not, but these are still amazing and complex games.

They have also fixed some very big problems since the days that Morrowind was the big game. For example, you wont be killing the boss characters at the end of each story line with a fork. Character balance is much better. Items are much more balanced. Over all the game is just more playable.

It would be nice to play Morrowind with it looking like Skyim but that in no way means that Skyrim isn't a great game. I support Bethesda without a problem. the ES games and the Fallout games are all one needs to completely enjoy modern generation gaming.
