I have been seeing these for a while. I thought it was just people cashing in on how rare this cart is and how popular the name is.
The best way for AA to combat this is to make more of this game available. If it could be purchased here no one would need to spend the money these carts are getting on eBay. I have thought about buying one of these but I can't see spending the money on these fakes right now when there is still a chance at a legit copy from AA.

Not sure I understand exactly what you are asking. It would seem like you are talking about posting links to auctions that might have slipped under the radar. If that is what you are talking about you are sure to tick someone off sooner or later but who cares? They are getting upset because they are suddenly aware they will have to bid in a fair auction instead of having the advantage of being to only person bidding.
That said I big on stuff I'm not in a hurry to share all the time. If someone was to "out" it I couldn't be upset about it, but I have no reason to do this to myself. If I can get an advantage I'll take it

Sorry, i haven't used this service before. I knew people did, I wanted to post this wanted list, and Google Docs seemed like the best way to do it. I'll go find out how to make it a list everyone can view, as I know that can be done as well.
EDIT: I changed the setting to allow anyone with a link to see this spread sheet. I then replaced the link in the first post. That should get it done. I think.

That link will take you to a Google Docs spread sheet of R2 carts I do not own yet. If you have any of these that you would like to trade of sell please let me know. I would like to be own all label and cart variations through R4 a year from now. I'm trying to get back to having fun collecting a little more and adding to this VCS collection is surely a joy in my life. Back to my roots so to speak.
I'm more than happy to send PayPal gift payments to known and trusted site members, or trade from my sale list in my signature. Just let me know and we can work something out I'm sure of it.
Thank you for your time.

Ahhh, I see what you did there. Clever indeed!

As a buyer I would want you to use eBay. I would pay more for the item, and eBay is a pain to deal with, but at the same time I would get buyer protection. The upsides to dealing with people on AA are noticable, and I love to buy and sell here. However, the only real downside to ripping a member here off is that you can't use this site anymore because everyone will know that you ripped somone off. This is why I don't buy from members here with very little post and too little feedback for the price of the item. The risks are super high that the user would take my money and just leave the forum. If you have nothing invested here there is no reason for you to stay after you make your money.
So, I would use eBay. If nothing else it will give the people that are bidding on your item some peace of mind. That goes a long way. Then again, if you do sell it to a member here on AA we will know for sure what the deal with the game is. I can't imagine anyone else here would have a problem opening that cart to prove it's past. It only adds to the value when you know what the real story on the cart is.
But then he would have to do something similar to what Dino suggested in post 12. If he wants to sell it without anyone studying it before the sell then it is better for him to have less buyer protection.
I'm just speaking as a buyer here. There is simply no way I would spend the kind of money something like this could bring with no real protection. I'm not alone in that thought at all. In my mind, and I am a salesman IRL, there is no good reason not to open this cart and prove that it is the real deal. If the seller is not willing to prove this is legit AND there is no buyer protection I can't see any reason to spend more money on this than you would give for a copy of PacMan with custom art.
Lets just put it to rest. Those of you that have the means to buy something like this please fill me in on this. Would you rather buy this game with the label in the shape is in now and take the chance that this is a fake or have the cart opened with a very little amount of damage to the label to know you are buying something rare and legit?
I do understand your point. However I am leary of selling such an expensive item on Ebay if I can avoid it. I have sold on there for 10 years with over 50,000 transactions and I know there is absolutely no seller protection. The buyer is always right and I have been scammed a number of times. I guess the ideal transaction would be in person where the buyer could check out the cart, play it and so forth and then I don't have to worry about the number of things that can go wrong after the sale. I was always planning on using Ebay (obviously the best auction site for exposure) but when I cancelled the auction waiting to see about this other cart another member suggested an auction on here so I thought i would try to get some insight.
I'm leery of people selling something this "rare" without some guaranty that it's the real deal and wanting to take the only way I can be sure I don't get ripped off away from me. Again, I'm sure I'm not alone in this thought process either.
I honestly want to believe this is all going to work out well. I love these kinds of finds and learning about something no one knew was out there for so long. People have been playing these games for many many years and to find one that no one seems to know anything about is very exciting. These kinds of finds are the artifacts of our hobby. This is not unlike finding some new scroll explaining something new about an ancient people. It just doesn't look good that you are willing to do nothing to help the people that would be bidding on this item come up with good reason to bid big on it.
EDIT: I just went back and read the story linked in this thread, you know the one that links back to this thread... if in fact we are feeding a troll here he is eating well. I do love the drama llama idea. Maybe that has been around for a while, but its new to me, and I found it pretty funny.

I never had the money to get these, but always loved to see them when my friends would sneak them to school. I really wish I had some of the NES and SNES stuff now but I just haven't found anything that jumps out at me deal wise. Maybe one day I'll finally get some of these. I have finally started with some AA mags, maybe that will push me toward this.
This is going to make the price of the old issues go up again. Which really doesn't add up right as those aren't going to be any rarer. That said, you watch, it will happen.

It's kind of like gambling....don't go broke.
Me I'm a different breed of collector. I'm a pure reseller/trade collector. Meaning I scour craigslist, yardsales, thriftstores and buy anything and everything that is a steal.
I then keep what I want and sell off the rest to break even or make a profit. Sometimes I'll sell it all and recoup what I have in it and then take the leftover $$ and by something nice with it.
This is really the best way to do it. Then again you constantly have to be selling and getting that $$ back. Another tactic I use is I sell all the high value items and then weed out the systems and commons and trade them for credit at my gamestore. I then get rare titles or new stuff w/that credit.
In the end all I have invested is time and sometimes I make a little $$ in the process.
This is how I get things done as well. I will buy the things I want when I see them, but I do this very often as well. That has gotten to be more and more a challenge though . See my most recent blog post for more on this topic. Collecting like this can be a real challenge. It really is pro collecting in more ways than one.

One spread sheet for VCS with all AA date in it. So rarity, company, label types and all that jazz are search and sortable. I keep that on my android phone and Xoom so when I'm out and about I can see what I have and the things I'm missing. Sorted out right I can tell very fast if I have a cart or not and how rare it is.
The rest of my systems are in a multi-tab spead sheet that just has a name and a notes section. Games are listed in one spot, and if they are complete or have a sticker on them or something in the middle I can just note that and move on. Very effective, though it took a great deal of time to get started, and if you forget to add something to it before putting it on the shelf it may never make it to the list.

I'm glad he opened the cart and posted pictures. That helps a lot actually. 50k is way way to high for this, but I agree with Climber, this is worth a chunk of change to the right person for sure. If I had more money to throw around I would love to make an offer on this.
I do find it odd that this person has this cart and is showing it running on a Famiclone. You would think someone that knew enough about the NES to know this was something special would know enough to want real hardware. Just a little something I noticed and found a bit odd.

I would love to make fun of this, but I would more than likely spend some money on this just to have it around. It would be a good example of new games made for old systems when people are trying to get me to explain the homebrew scene to them. From time to time a friend or relative does ask about these kinds of things, and this would be a neat example I guess.

nagn2, at this point I think it is fair to say that the over all opinion this forum as a whole will hold of you will be damaged if this cart doesn't make it to auction. Its really an odd thing, but you will be seen as a troll forever if nothing ever comes of this after all this time and talk. This could be something that you don't care much about. After all if you have no reason to care about this forum our opinion of you surely wouldn't matter. However, if collecting is something you really want to enjoy this is a great place to be and damaging your reputation here over something this silly could easily come back to haunt you.
Personally if this is legit I can't afford it, if it isn't I don't want it, and without verification from someone that I can trust I'm going to assume it is a homebrew with a lot of nothing behind it and therefor none of this really matters anyway. I just felt the need to put all this into writing for you. I think I understand how you want this to play out, but I have been wrong before, and I'm hoping I'm wrong now. So, how do you want this to go down man? I promise I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm honestly looking out for you in this.

Reseller calvinwestbrook won it.
permart14 was second, that has to reseller too. He's been buying up a ton of stuff recently.
How do you know this? There is a secret here I don't know yet I'm sure of it.

What we have here is a simple thing. A few hipsters that want to have these things around the house so they can say they found it at the local thrift for $1 and thought it was cool.

Man cave with a changing table? That is no man cave. She might let you think its a man cave, but that is changing room at best.

So, what about those times when the footage is bad...
I'm talking about recording mostly for highscore reasons here. So I'll want to record my game play and if, while I'm recording, I happen to put the right run of game play together to want to submit it for a record I'll have it. However, there are many times when I'm playing and just can't get the right run going. I don't want to have to throw out a disc because I recorded the wrong game on it and run through discs like that all the time, and the ability to play any good score I do capture on a standard DVD player will matter.
Thoughts on that front?

Man, I saw the picture before I read the post and my freaking heart stopped! I'm going to talk to the PO about this anyway. That should not happen at all. They are the only company on earth that can take control of your items with no liability for damage to it and this kind of thing happens as a direct result.
-
Rubik's Cube is the only item in the lot I don't already have to $100 isn't something to jump at for me. For a new collector its a little better if everything works correctly. A devent start and a rare game in the collection off the rip helps a little.
-
How are those of you that do this kind of thing getting it done? Turns out some of my gaming scores are close enough to start recording game play just in case. It would be nice to record to DVD so I can put that on my PC later if I wanted to.
All these people streaming game play and recording their game play for YouTube means there has to be a reasonable way to get these kinds of things done. I would love to know how people are getting these things to work properly for them.

PM sent. I want it original, just working. I love my Sega CD, and I love this model so I'll do what I have to do to make sure she is in tip top order.

Just remember, the bad guys NEVER think they are the bad guys!
True this is only have the story. It gives no reason for the war that is going on in the first place. I think I can continue to play Space Invaders if I just keep in mind they are still invading from space.

I and a few people that work with me have been trying to talk the boss into letting me put one of my MAME machine in the break room here. That just isn't going to happen I feel quite certain.

So..how mad can I really be about this? (gameofjapan.com)

This kind of thing makes me very angry. More than it should if I'm going to be honest about it. If the complete order can't be shipped there should be a contact to make sure the customer still wants the rest of the order. I have had this problem before and I simply can not stand it.
