Final Fantasy II NES English proto
HatefulGravey replied to cybercylon's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I'm glad he opened the cart and posted pictures. That helps a lot actually. 50k is way way to high for this, but I agree with Climber, this is worth a chunk of change to the right person for sure. If I had more money to throw around I would love to make an offer on this. I do find it odd that this person has this cart and is showing it running on a Famiclone. You would think someone that knew enough about the NES to know this was something special would know enough to want real hardware. Just a little something I noticed and found a bit odd. -
I would love to make fun of this, but I would more than likely spend some money on this just to have it around. It would be a good example of new games made for old systems when people are trying to get me to explain the homebrew scene to them. From time to time a friend or relative does ask about these kinds of things, and this would be a neat example I guess.

nagn2, at this point I think it is fair to say that the over all opinion this forum as a whole will hold of you will be damaged if this cart doesn't make it to auction. Its really an odd thing, but you will be seen as a troll forever if nothing ever comes of this after all this time and talk. This could be something that you don't care much about. After all if you have no reason to care about this forum our opinion of you surely wouldn't matter. However, if collecting is something you really want to enjoy this is a great place to be and damaging your reputation here over something this silly could easily come back to haunt you. Personally if this is legit I can't afford it, if it isn't I don't want it, and without verification from someone that I can trust I'm going to assume it is a homebrew with a lot of nothing behind it and therefor none of this really matters anyway. I just felt the need to put all this into writing for you. I think I understand how you want this to play out, but I have been wrong before, and I'm hoping I'm wrong now. So, how do you want this to go down man? I promise I'm not trying to be a jerk, I'm honestly looking out for you in this.

How do you know this? There is a secret here I don't know yet I'm sure of it.

Confused about the high bids for this...
HatefulGravey replied to marillion's topic in Auction Central
What we have here is a simple thing. A few hipsters that want to have these things around the house so they can say they found it at the local thrift for $1 and thought it was cool. -

Man cave with a changing table? That is no man cave. She might let you think its a man cave, but that is changing room at best. -

Recording gaming footage?
HatefulGravey replied to HatefulGravey's topic in Classic Console Discussion
So, what about those times when the footage is bad... I'm talking about recording mostly for highscore reasons here. So I'll want to record my game play and if, while I'm recording, I happen to put the right run of game play together to want to submit it for a record I'll have it. However, there are many times when I'm playing and just can't get the right run going. I don't want to have to throw out a disc because I recorded the wrong game on it and run through discs like that all the time, and the ability to play any good score I do capture on a standard DVD player will matter. Thoughts on that front? -
Man, I saw the picture before I read the post and my freaking heart stopped! I'm going to talk to the PO about this anyway. That should not happen at all. They are the only company on earth that can take control of your items with no liability for damage to it and this kind of thing happens as a direct result.
-
Rubik's Cube is the only item in the lot I don't already have to $100 isn't something to jump at for me. For a new collector its a little better if everything works correctly. A devent start and a rare game in the collection off the rip helps a little.
-
How are those of you that do this kind of thing getting it done? Turns out some of my gaming scores are close enough to start recording game play just in case. It would be nice to record to DVD so I can put that on my PC later if I wanted to. All these people streaming game play and recording their game play for YouTube means there has to be a reasonable way to get these kinds of things done. I would love to know how people are getting these things to work properly for them.

Any Sega CD experts here? Need a repair...
HatefulGravey replied to HatefulGravey's topic in Classic Console Discussion
PM sent. I want it original, just working. I love my Sega CD, and I love this model so I'll do what I have to do to make sure she is in tip top order. -
This is in the break room at my new job...
HatefulGravey replied to Eltigro's topic in Classic Console Discussion
I and a few people that work with me have been trying to talk the boss into letting me put one of my MAME machine in the break room here. That just isn't going to happen I feel quite certain. -
I have a Sega CD model 1 that has stopped working and I have no idea why. If there is something simple I can do that might work I'm willing to try it, but if I have to do too much I would much rather pay someone that knows what they are doing. This unit worked fine, I unplugged it, put it on a shelf and now it isn't working right. I have tried 2 model 1 consoles with it, different power supplies, cleaned the connection and all that jazz, I'm getting nothing. It wont power up. So, any ideas or takers? I'm guessing this is a fuse issue but I'm basing that on nothing at all to be honest.

Can anyone port Donkey Kong to the Genesis?
HatefulGravey replied to CorTat-G's topic in Sega Genesis
I have no idea why this would be done, but I can tell you a CIB version of Donkey Kong would make its way to my collection for sure. Again, I don't know why that sounds so bad ass, but it certainly does. It would need a box and manual to make it worth owning for me (as all my Sega Gen/CD stuff is going boxed only) but it would be pretty darn cool. Maybe a black grib box.... oh yeah that would do nicely. Wish I had what it took to program homebrews for these older systems, I might just love it if I could get to a point that it wasn't a pure chore to do it. -
How do you price magazines? I looked through your listing because I saw the title here mentioned them, but the prices are much higher than I would have expected. Not to start new crap (I saw the first page of this thread you see) I'm really wondering. I have seen magazines for sale at the local auction and if there is a reasonable way to know their value I'll start buying them more often. For those prices I might start buying them on the chance they are worth more then I was thinking. Again, looking for information, not a fight .

Someone on this site has surely been watching that, and will soon lose their mind that you pointed this out. I have seen it happen before, and it will soon happen again I'm certain. On a personal level, thank for pointing that out, I'll get my bid on soon enough.\ Nevermind, a little bit of looking showed that this is one of those "rare" games that isn't really all that costly.

This "gamer prestige" you speak of must be pretty cool. Neo Geo anything can cost a good chunck of change, so having this prestige must be a big deal to people like myself that collect MVS stuff. What was I thinking, there is no good reason to collect these things.... Using your logic there is no reason to collect much of anything classic gaming but to show off. You could emulate almost everything classic gaming free and easy on the most basic computer these days. Why then would you spend money on something you could enjoy for free? The answer to that question is the same as why people collect Neo Geo. Maybe some collect to show off, but that isn't a common reason.

Thats one hell of a new job. Gotta love that. -
I wont complain myself. I will never grudge a man for getting a good deal. You should have her Monday. Enjoy!

When I saw the title of this thread I just about sent you money without looking at prices and pictures. I never knew those strips we that high. I can understand it some though. If that case was in better shape I would have snatched that up in a heart beat. Alas it looks a bit rough. I wonder how hard it would be replace the insides with something in better shape?

Oh yeah, I did cheat at CoD for a while there. I had the infinite coin glitch worked out so I could get all the double xp and gun unlocks and all that jazz as soon as I hit the 2nd prestige. I don't know how many of you that made since to, but there it is. There was no real advantage to it but the look of my name and weapons, but it was surely cheating and at a MP game.

The last 24 hours or so are ticking down and so far not much going on with this. Lots of watchers so I'm hoping for the standard last min bid fest. Here's hoping. Otherwise there is a deal to be had here.
