  1. I will never look at it the same again either. That is freaking awesome. Thanks for the link. That needs to be made into a poster so I can hang it in the game room.
  2. I go to live auctions every week. I have dealt with auctions for year now, and find that eBay is a strange place indeed. At a live auction you see an item, decide what you are going to spend on the item and stop bidding if the item gets higher than you want to spend. This is the standard bidding idea at a live auction. On eBay people think its ok to "snipe" an item. I'm not sure how that works with the idea of how one should buy at an auction. If, on day one, you put in your max bid then you are going to win the item for the price you want, if you don't then you didn't over pay based on what you want to spend. To "snipe" an items makes no since to me. Just set your max and let it roll. Emotion gets too involved when these people are trying to "snipe". Thats just me, maybe I'm wrong, maybe its a terrible tragedy.
  3. You define "exact" in a different way than I.
  4. I would have liked to play through this myself, I'm glad I forgot it was coming out or I might have spent money on it, and would be wanting to hurt someone right now. What did they charge for this game? Shipping me an original xBox game in replacement right now would be a monsterous insult if they were charging $60 for this game new off the shelf.
  5. Headtracking would be a sweet addition to gaming that could be used in the very near future. I would never work for more than one player per screen, but most games are played online these days so it wouldn't matter much anyway. Another person watching you play would be lost as their view would be screwed up, but for the person playing it is amazing. I have seen this done with Wii hardware and it blew my mind. I would LOVE to play a well made game using this correctly.
  6. I have been seeing this bait and switch thing a lot with MVS carts lately. You will see one picture with 3 games in it used for 3 different auctions. Each game being sold in it's own auction. So if you don't take the time to read the 1000 word description of the lot, displayed in 9 different colors and 14 font sizes and styles you will never know you are only getting the copy of Fatal Fury, not that CVS Chaos game on top of it. So you bid big and get a $15 game and a big laugh out of the seller. eBay really should do something about that. The flea markets in my area have the same issue with pricing. "I saw one of these on eBay for $250". They don't take the time to see that it was a BIN and no one was buying that thing. Even better, there was one at $250, and 45 at $2.50 and he went with the larger number because it worked better for him.
  7. Dragster (VCS) Communist Mutants from Space (VCS) Ninja Gaiden (NES) I'm hoping that next month I'll be able to take a staycation from work and knock out a chunk of the Activision patch challenges. Its something I have always wanted to do.
  8. NES / SMS. I really enjoy my VCS era stuff, but by the NES they were still making highscore games, and games started to get storylines that progressed in the game. If this era in gaming history had more space shooters it would have been perfect for me. Thankfully I'm not restricted to one era in my gaming, so I can still have my VCS for that.
  9. See, I would say buying a flash cart is cheating. Not many even know about flash carts when they first start a collection, and even fewer would understand exactly how to use one to get the most out of it. In the beginning of the hobby most people are going to buy whatever they can get their hands on at a price they think is ok, and then find out a month later they got completely ripped off.
  10. Its pretty bad actually. I love the looks, and did when it came out some time ago, but the problems with the way it works stopped me from getting one. I wouldn't buy one unless I got it real cheap, they are just trouble.
  11. Aren't all arcades in Japan full of Street Fighter games and goofy games with no english translation available? Maybe that is just what playing SFIV online leads me to believe. If I see a name in english I have a chance, if the name is in any asian language I get my face destroyed.
  12. The Wii is cheap as hell right now and every where. I haven't seen a working xbox in the wild in forever and a day. Not to mention getting everything together to soft mod one right now might be no fun. It isn't something I have done since the xbox was new, but it would seem that finding the right game and the right memory card might be something of a challenge right now. I could be completely wrong, like I said I haven't done it in forever. I also seem to remeber mine being a bit of a pain in the butt to move around in. A little less user friendly then I understand the Wii to be. Also... just what the hell are you talking up there Ax? Are you ok, should I call someone for you? Do you need prfessional help? Maybe that is just another joke I don't get...
  13. If the mom and pop shops I have seen lately are any way to judge this you might be able to take 1000 copies of Mario 1 and 3 and not much more. Maybe a few Wii games and a sports title or two for the Sega Genesis. Over all this would be a hard way to collect. The more I think about it the harder that sounds. Now, someone else's credit card information, a false pay-pal account, and an address you can't be found at but can get to so you can gather your packages, and an eBay shopping spree. Spend your $200 on the things you need to get away with all this.
  14. Looks like you already know all you need to know but I feel the need to chime in anyway. Pokemon Yellow - Its just the copy I had when the game first came out. Metroid II - Great stuff and killed many hours when mom thought I was sleeping. Tetris - Must be mentioned as the killer app that helped move the GB when it started out. Everyone loves it, no one wants to admit it.
  15. You posted while I was posting and I just noticed your post in this thread. I have never looked at the site you are talking about until now. There are tons of other labels out there. Is there any information as to why the labels vary so much? What was the reasoning behind the standard and blue labels? Now you can add the black and while labels to that question as well. I have seen a few black and white labels in the part but didn't know that many games had one. EDIT: LOL, you did it again. I saw it this time so I go ahead and read that.
  16. @graywest There are two trains of thought on that. The first is in line with yours exactly. The other being that collectors love the different stuff. That is largely why I'm looking into picking these up. The thing is if you search for pricing information so much of what you get is about the standard label so the averages are off, and eBay is a terrible way to try to gage the value of anything really. The prices I'm seeing aren't what I would call high, but at the same time I don't want to get ripped off when the answers I need are more than likely here somwhere. Someone on this forum knows I'm sure, there is just too much information in the heads of the members here not to take advantage of it.
  17. Up to this point I haven't really payed attention to the blue label games. I wanted the games and I got good copies regardless of the label. Recently I have started looking to knock of the blue label collection and I'm finding the prices are all over the place. The rarity chart shows they are all pretty close to the standard labels, but that says nothing for the pricing. Are these blue label games really worth a bit more than the standard labels?
  18. Different controller for different games is a thing that seems to be only for gamers. The person that picks up a game every now and then could care less for that stuff. You really need to be into a certain kind of game to justify the extra cost of the special controller for a type of game. I have a fight stick for fighting game, and I've had a few wheels but they never work right for what I want. Most people I know have the standard controller that works well enough for everything. I would be ok with a keyboard and mouse working with the next consoles for FPS games. The arguement that it creates an unfair advantage for some if crap. Play with what suits you best and there is no advantage. The next consoles should be more computer than console anyway, so lets get it right this time.
  19. Has a price been mentioned in this thread for the 2nd run? I honestly haven't been too worried about it, but it would be nice to know I guess. Any better idea when this is actually going to happen? Been on the list now for 543 days...
  20. Might want to pay your help better than that or they will flop on you the first chance they get. You could also just scare them into thinking you are the kind of person that could break their knees and leave them bleeding in a gutter miles and miles from help. Either way, if you are going to look into this way of building a collection, you might want to make sure your bases are covered as its hard to enjoy your collection from a jail cell.
  21. I looked on that site, it said they were out of stock and I wasn't sure if that just meant they didn't have any made or that they weren't making anymore. The site didn't seem to say if they would make more or not. The message I sent to the other guy has gone un-answered so far. I'll find a way to message your guy too and see whats up with him. EDIT: That didn't take long, as soon as I go to the site now there is a notice that they aren't taking orders right now.
  22. At this rate you are going to need to hire a staff to complete all of these man. You should hook up with some classic gaming site to sell these full time. Are you offering these on other sites as well? I'm sure there are people that don't visit this forum that would love to have one.
  23. Of course. They aren't widespread like they used to be, but there are still areas that get new arcade releases. A real arcade, not just a ticket redemption center? I'm moving right now! Where is there a real arcade? Everything around here is just there so you can trade tokens for tickets and tickets for bouncy balls or cheap finger traps. I would fall out if I walked into an arcade now and found a brand new game in the Neo Geo cab. That would be some kind of sweet.
  24. These graded games have been all over the NES scene for a while now. I don't know who buys them (I'm thinking no one) because they list them over a grand all the time. I have friends that collect coin and cards and they are ok with the rating system, but more than anything they also abuse it. They will get a card in really good shape, spend the small amount needed to have it graded on the chance that it comes back graded well, and sell it higher because it is graded. Clearly someone out there cares a lot for graded items. Thankfully it looks like the games have to be sealed to get graded like this and I don't buy sealed games anyway.
  25. Yeah, the price jump is the main reason I didn't just pick this up for myself. He would have let me have it cheap, but that is hardly fair to him. I don't collect boxes NES games anyway so the only reason to own it was the value, and I don't collect for value either. Just no good reason not to sell it. The box isn't perfect, and that will hurt it some, but I have seen set ups like this sell for $130+ and that is surely what he would like to see from it. I have seen this game CIB get real high, in the $200+ range. You never know, I'm excited to see where it goes myself.
