  1. These motion control games aren't my thing, but I certainly wouldn't say games aren't "real games" if they use them. That said if motion controls are the next big thing I'm out. When I want to move around like that I go for a jog or something like that. I just don't enjoy gaming like that. Hell, more and more I only really enjoy games with a high score. Just kind of the thing I'm most into right now. I really don't know what I want I want the next big thing to be. I'm happy where we are truth be told. It could be better for all the reasons everyone here mentions every time the chance comes up, but I don't need anything more then I have.
  2. Just do what I do. Get the things you want for your game room while you can. I expect that by the time I get to buy a house with the game room I want money might just be too tight to buy all the things I want. I'll buy them now, get by storing them on shelves for the time being, and have them when I get the room to display them properly. This is the perfect cure for warts. Would be nice if there was more of thing of thing out there.
  3. No problem! Using a harmony cart is great, but it is also fun to use the vintage Starpath still. I use both my Harmony and Starpath pretty regularly for "The Official Frogger". That title alone is worth purchasing one of these two great pieces of hardware. Please let me know how the MP3s work out for you! Best regards, Trem I have played a few of these from my phone already and so far everything works great. Thanks again for making this happen.
  4. eBay Auction -- Item Number: 280939148798 Listed this for a friend. If you have any questions about anything please PM me. His game, his pricing, my account and I'm taking responsibility for this. So if anyone here wins it and has an issue come straight to me and I'll make it right. Look at the pictures and you will see the entire story. The game is really in great shape, the box has very little wear. This lived in his closet for years and years so its still pretty nice. I forgot to say so in the listing, but this is from a smoke free home. I should go back and add that to the listing so people will know I guess.
  5. I solute you sir. I wish I could say that. I can say that of my VCS collection. It is what got me into collecting like I do so I still spend a pile of time on it. The rest of them however don't get the play they should. It was easier to play all the games in my collection when the collection was still just a few hundred carts, or when they were all in my language for that matter.
  6. I was thinking that before as well, but I didn't want to rain on anyone's parade. Sure, you could build a cabinet for $200, but it won't be pretty (literally). Wood/mdf/plywood, screws, glue/adhesive, sandpaper/bits/blades, filler, primer, paint, T-molding, hinges, venting/fans, plexiglass, and marquee lighting will easily put you over $200 before you've even started to think about the cabinet guts. Even if you have a free PC, monitor, controls, speakers, etc. it would be very, very tough to build a decent cabinet for $200. Of course, if your cabinet is made out of cardboard and paper mache, it would probably only cost about $50 (mostly for glue)... The more I think about it, if you have a laptop already, shop for good deals, and are ok parts that aren't the kind most people spring for with a machine like this you might be able to build a decent bar top for $200. TBH my MAME machine has been done for almost 2 years and I still don't have a custom marquee or side art. Those things are nice, but they can be skipped I guess.
  7. It's pricey, but it's intended for arcade operators. I was lead to believe that this was a new game. Are their still arcades out there making enough money, and drawing enough new customers to make buying new games like this worth it? I certainly hope a place like that still exist, but they certainly don't exist around here. How I wish they did. I just assumed that the MVS games cost a good bit more to make. It would make since that making a new MVS cart would be pricey. I have been buying MVS games for a while now, and I know they get high, so it wasn't too far out of the question that this game was made for people such as myself, that being a collector of MVS stuff, but with much more money.
  8. I don't have to make it a point but I play at least a few hours a week myself. Normally classic games emulated on my Sony Ericsson Play while I should be working, or while I'm on the John, which we all know is the best place for gaming on your phone.
  9. Oh well, yeah. I guess that would work. Not the best method, and not one I ever think about, but I guess you are correct. Now I fell silly for over looking the obvious.
  10. Those that review this game rant and rave about it. The MVS version of this game has an asking price that scares the pure living hell out of me.
  11. You know, have put together a few MAME machines now, and a $200 MAME machine would be pretty hard to pull off. I'm sure it could be done, but it wouldn't be fun. What would you do to interface the buttons with the PC? An iPAC is all the way out of the question.
  12. Downloading right now, thanks for doing the work for me. I had looked for that some in the past and didn't find where it had been done. I have heard that CD couldn't be ripped like that. This should be freaking sweet. I hereby abandon this project and differ to those that have already done this. Your effort is much appreciated.
  13. Why, in the name of all that is holy, do they still air soap operas? That's a good way to ruin good TV time, and seeing one on TV just pisses me off when channel surfing. No good can come from this.

Now that Oprah's old show is off the air, all those housewives need something besides QVC to watch all day while they eat their bonbons.

I'm still angry that they cancelled "As the World Turns." my grandma, mom and sister all used to watch it.

  14. I have played probably 90% of the games I have upstairs. I make it a point to ply the games I buy before they actually make it to the shelf. I don't want to put games that don't work into the collection. The games I haven't played at this point are the Neo Geo CD games I have picked up (paid a pile for this console and haven't removed it from the box yet) and the MVS stuff I have picked up. I'll have my consolized MVS soon and they will be played very very soon after that. The rest of the 10% that haven't been played are random games I just haven't gotten to yet. Now I wont say they have all been played a lot. Most of them for about 10 min, some of them I get hooked on and play for hours.
  15. A NES and a power pak, or a 2600 with Harmony would be my start. Maybe the either console and a the largest lot of games I could find the for the remaining cash, just depending on where you really want to start. If you want to be able to play the most games the flash carts rock, if you want to collect the real hardware off the bat starting with a pile of the most common games would be a great way to go to. Trying to think like this really makes you think about the cost of collecting. $200 really doesn't go very far at all.
  16. So I have spent the last hour working on converting Supercharger tapes to MP3s you could use without any special equipment. I'm nothing yet having much luck, but I have made some good progress on this. You need a tape player, aux cable like you would use to hook an MP3 player to a CD player in a car, the game you want to move, and a program to record audio to your PC. Just hook the tape player up and play the tape into the computer through the aux cable plugged into the microphone in (I've not seen a PC without this input in 20 years so you should be good) and record with the software you picked. I exported to 192kb MP3 on the first round and side A came closest to loading but failed to finish loading the game. I'm going to try a higher rate MP3 when I get back home tonight, and anything else I can if that doesn't work. I hope to find a good way to get this done for those that don't have access to the special equipment I used the first time when I got this to work. I'm going to figure this out.
  17. You would sell it for about what? Would you sell just Stella? PM sent, I'll find out that way .
  18. PM sent, I have known about these for a while, but this is just too good to keep waiting on. Anyone that has had to plug those three bricks in to play knows exactly how much this is needed. Just bad ass.
  19. I had access to a converter that would record audio from a tape or record to MP3 and I took the chance to try a theory I had. It works but I can't get into a lot of detail because I just don't really know. I'm guessing that the date being transmitted in the audio just isn't that complex as to loose enough to matter in the MP3 format. You can also record higher quality MP3s than most people bother with, and seeing as how these tapes are very short it takes no extra space worth thinking about to record at the highest level. When I started doing this I was actually shocked that these games weren't out there in MP3 (or other digital format) to be downloaded as ROMs are. Surly many people have done this in the past, but no one has uploaded them anywhere that I ever found.
  20. subscriber, check the subs forum. Let me know what you think.

  21. I love my Nomad, but modern options for the same kind of device might be better over all. The Nomad is nice because it is original hardware, but if the function is all you are really interested in there are newer "consoles" that Sega made official that play the original carts.
  22. I sent a message to make sure they had the things needed to make a copy of Sweet Home for me per the FAQ on the site. He is hoping and thanks for the information Mr Loon.
  23. If they just had Sweet Home... I would love to, and more then likely will soon, get that Donkey kong Pie Factory deal. Some of the prices there are a bit higher than other places, but it looks like the games are ready to ship right now instead of waiting a month to get it made for you. Am I wrong there? I feel certain I'll order SMB2j and DK:PF from there this weekend (or when my bank gets my account back right, its a long story) and hunt down Sweet Home elsewhere. Thanks for the recommendation. I do with flash carts were cheaper because I would have already ordered that thing if I could justify the cost.
  24. Looks like you have to be a member of that site to see the pics .
  25. I would like to have the translated version of Sweet Home and Super Mario Bros. 2j put on NES carts. I have seen sites that do this but they don't seem very up to date and I know people here can do this. i have donor carts if you need them. I may want more games later but these two are pretty high on the list of games I would like to have on actual NES carts. If no one around can do these two or don't have time any suggestions on good places to order from would help as well. Most places want a month to get these done, which is ok if I know the people I'm giving money to are on the level.
