  1. I just checked this again and found all these people that want to play. I'm Hatefulgravey there too, and I'll see you guys online soon.
  2. 193210 Thats all I got. I got a late start and I'm in right before the deadline (I hope...) MAYBE I'll have time for a game tonight when I get home. Oh, and I'll try to get the picture of my crap tastic score up too.
  3. Does it give you a better picture? The sound would be stereo so that is certainly better. What size wire should I use? Does that really matter that much? And I'm assuming these screw is AV jacks are a Radio Shack purchase....? Thanks for the link, that looks to help a ton.
  4. I have a Sega Genesis model 1, and I don't have the special video cable for it. I can run it with a standard AV cable and a converter (much like the standard Atari 2600 set up) but the quality is suffering bad from that. I have seen this system modded for AV output and I'm thinking of giving this a shot. Before I do however I was wonder if anyone has done this? Should I do this? How hard is this? And where can I find good instructions and parts for this? I hear the s-video is a better mod, but the TV I play the older games on doesn't have s-video. I'll get one that does later, but for now s-video would do me no good at all. Can both be done to the same system? I also hear the s-video is harder and more costly, how much harder and costly are we talking here? Thanks for your time.
  5. I could have sworn I saw that the NES was over. I'll get in on that if it's still on. I assure you, the NES HSC is still running. Chris Just to be clear I wasn't talking about the HSC being over entirly, just the one game. I'm in, and on the next game when I get home tonight. See you there.
  6. I could have sworn I saw that the NES was over. I'll get in on that if it's still on. I agree 50 weeks is a lot of playing. See you in a few weeks with what done of my MAME machine. That seems to take a lot of time too.
  7. It seems to me all the challenges for the week are done, and have been done for a while now, with no new challenge up. Keep in mind I'm new and I just joined wanting to get in on some of this. I have read the rules post for the HSCs I was interested in and they all say one a week but..... Is there a off season of something? When are we getting more games to play? Thank you for your time with my (more then likly silly) question.
  8. Those look like a lot of fun. I heard of that one and the model for the SNES just last week, looking forward to getting one of each soon. I have to get my Harmony Cart first though.
  9. The problem I have in the wild has nothing to do with finding games and items. The problem is people in this area are thinking anything with the name Atari on it must be worth a ton of money. I think it is a direct side effect of the internet making things as available to you as you put time into it. I still get people that come to me talking about a NES that sold for 15k, this is the story Yahoo posted about an eBay sale and if you read the article you would know it was not the system, but a game. People just read the head lines. So, they thing everything Atari is worth a ton because they aren't looking into what is making things cost what they do. The other day I found a craigslist sale on a 2600 light sixer with 8 games all R1 and R2. The person selling the system wanted $400 (a price she listed after we started talking about it, else I would never have responded to the ad). The solution, "if it is worth that kind of money you will most likely find it on eBay, and it would surely be worth your time".
  10. Yar's Revenge I can play for some time on novice, but flipping that switch means I'm a dead man. Not sure what it really is, but I can't get to the blue shield on expert. Dodge Em I find brutal. The worst of all is Frankenstein's Monster ruins my day everytime. Jumping on those small and/or moving platforms at the bottom of the screen is just hell!
  11. eBay is the only way to be. There is one single games store in my town, and its the only one I can find within 4 hours of here. So they have a hold. They want $5 a game for the common stuff and they don't have much at all because they don't take it in, because no one else here buys it. I offered to buy everything he had for a discount and he said no. So, you have no one to sell to, and you wont help the one guy that wants to buy? I know he uses eBat to pad his sales, but he will never get what he is asking on eBay either.... I wonder what this guy is thinking. I did however get a few R5 games for $5 each though, and I thought that was a win.
  12. I looked at eBay for these games, and I would like to have something like this to add to my very small collection of mostly common games (I don't even have a copy of Centeped yet.... I mean really...) but I'm overly concerned about these reproductions now and I can't trust anyone anymore. This sucks. Must to research into how to ID a reproduction before I go spending big money.
  13. So I have to ask the question noobish though it may be. How do you know it is a reproduction? I only ask so that I don't find myself on the loosing end of something like this one day. Also, what should these games (Halloween and Texas) be worth when they are the real deal?
  14. To be honest I have gotten enough "questionable" respose to post and PMs that I'm on edge about it I guess. I don't know that anything I have posted yet has been well recieved to the point that I was thinking about leaving the forum all together. If it wasn't meant to be belittling then no harm done, but so far everything has been really well spelled out and I'm just not that dumb. It starts to seem like your being talked down to after a while... My bad... again! And I have sucessfully jacked my own thread. Not cool. Thanks for the answers though, I did forget to say that, and thats not a good thing. Thanks.
  15. I understand that there is a rarity guide on this site. I have used it more then a little and I thought I understood that to be the common rarity of games, which does lend to its value. However, it doesn't seem to say how rare a game is in it's original box and still shrink rapped as this claims to be. Forgive me for being new to collecting these games and systems. I ask questions because I would like to know. It would seem I have a habbit of asking overly noobish questions and upsetting people or atleast inspiring some feelings of frustration with my lack of knowledge. It would seem likely this forum has seen a lot of new people looking for answers to questions more expereinced collectors think too minimal to answer without insult.
  16. Any RCA cable will work with one of these: http://www.radioshack.com/product/index.jsp?productId=2103471 I use one I got at the local Radio Shack for about $2. Mine just isn't all pretty and gold. Plug the RCA cable into the Atari and then that will convery it to the right connection that most tvs still have. This will also work for NES model 101 as well. Haven't tried it with the model 001 yet.
  17. Then I have been here for a few days and already made a jerk of myself. I searched, I'm a noob in the Atari world but not the forum world, but found nothing. Maybe I'm searching with the wrong terms. I'm sorry guys.
  18. http://savannah.craigslist.org/atq/1867867599.html I'm still pretty new to Atari collecting. In fact I have made one purchase so far and it wasn't huge at all, so I have a lot to learn. $250? Is that truely reasonable? I honestly can't afford to buy it, and I'm a player more then collector anyway. I do wonder though if that is really worth it. If it is contact the guy. I know most of you, if not all, live too far to drive to meet this guy, but I bet you could work something out if this is something you really want.
  19. My Atari 2600 is working just fine, but almost all games have soemthing "wrong" with the left side of the screen. When I'm playing Berzerk there are 4 or 5 lines running left to right on the screen, but they are only there on the very edge of the screen. I really didn't notice it untill my wife mentioned it. Moon Patrol seems to be fine, but adjusted right, so instead of the image being centered its off to the rigt a little, leaving the left side of the screen blank. About 1/4 inch on the left. None of this seems to effect the game at all, so I'm not super concerned about it, but I have to wonder are these kinds of things normal for the system? I was no where near gaming age when these systems were new, so I have no real idea having never seen one new. Emulators dont do this, but then again they are often better then the original system when dealing with these older systems.... Just wondering. If this isn't clear enough I'll post pictures when I get home.
  20. I think the idea of Game Room is great. I don't enjoy paying that much for all the games, but it is what it is. I really think it would have been more fun if I had friends that were old school gamers. As I don't know anyone that really uses it much I don't use it much because the coolest part is the challenges, and no friends playing this means no one to challenge. That said I pretty much gave up on it. There are some really neat things going on there. I would most like it for more arcade games. They really need to get Donkey Kong, Ms. Pac-Man, Galaga... things like that in there. There are people that love the games they have, but there are far more casual gamers that would play it more if they had more main stream games in there. Just my 2 cents.
  21. Sweet. Thanks a bunch. I have never played 5200 and I've only held a 7800 controller once in my life, so those games are a little lower on the list, but if I can have it all working now I'm certainly game. Thanks a ton! This will make work a lot more livable, I would love to get paid, but if I have to be there and not get paid the least I can do is have my Atari handy.
  22. I have my PSP running customer firm ware 5.00 M33-3. I haven't looked into firmware out there in a while, so I'm sure there is something newer, not that I would remember how to upgrade it, but I'm sure I would learn fast again if I had to. So I have found PSP emulators for firmware 1.5 and 2.0, but nothing yet for customer firmware at all. If someone knows of something please fill me in, I would love to be able to play at work, as we spend more then a little time doing nothing any more. I have NES, SNES, and Sega Genesis working fine, but 2600 would be super nice to add to the list.
