Intellivision Purchases and Deals
mdoerty replied to IntellivisionDude's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I have boxes for Super Cobra and Tut for Intelly. Since I don't collect boxes (though I keep my Homebrew ones), I am thinknig about finding them a good home. Anyone interested. Mike from Morgantown -
Re: Variants. If we start counting different releases of Homebrews as differnt games, you would have to count Sears and INTV as different as well -- not to mention the Auto Racing, Golf, and Elec. Co. Math Fun differences (which are known to exist in the wild). And don't forget the Astrosmash with the timer feature. Mike from Morgantown

It was my understanding that the original version was SUPPOSED to have voices and such ... but the first 100 of the carts ended up being made with an earlier version of the ROM. This was not discovered until much later -- which is why I bought the revision. (My #85 was the not complete ROM. I knew something was wrong when I got my (first release) game and it was not as good as the beta I had tested. Mike from Morgantown

Best Donkey Kong re-release for classic systems?

XM (7800) and SGM (CV) are not original hardware. So I vote for the Intelly. Mike from Morgantown -

But I still have the game and instructions ... Like everyone I bought from INTV back in the day. I also have all the catalogs. -

I have kept all the homebrew boxes. But I sold some INTV boxes there ... One of which may have been Spiker. -

Nice Sears Intellivision & Adventures Of Tron Ending Today
mdoerty replied to DATARI's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Actually, would that not just make it a rebadged 2609 rather than a Sears SVA? Since the special thing about a Sears Super Video Arcade is that it did not display "Mattel Electronics" on the start up screen. Mike from Morgantown -

Not yet. I think it just went out today. Looking forward to trying Hover Force with my 3D glasses. -

Got my confirmation from USPS today. Looking forward to the finished product. Mike from Morgantown -
I have VGCS -- an exaggerated form of ICD which has not fully expanded into CUDS. The sad thing is that I was pretty much an adult (senior in high school) when I started with these games ... so I have been at it quite a while as an "adult." Mike from Morgantown

Cmart and Rev's Top 30 Intellivision Variations
mdoerty replied to cmart604's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I remember the day when my mother, in a fit of cleaning, had me throw away the boxes for my Intellivision games and my sister's Atari 2600 games. Luckily, I kept the games and instructions. But because of this, I never got into boxed collecting -- though I have 2 or 3 of those 30 variations. I even sold some of my rarer boxes -- albeit to other collectors over a decade ago at Philly Classic 2001 (but kept the 4-Tris box). Mike from Morgantown -
Sounds like this person is related to the eBay sellers who have auctions end without a buyer ... then re-list the item at a higher price. In those cases though, at least no one had started the purchase process. Mike from Morgantown

I agree with the need for rewards to be supplements to the actual game. Special ediitions with boxes, instructions, overlays, title screens, etc. are fine. But not extra levels or "only avaialble at this place-and-time" games. I personally like the idea of using the Kickstarter to "reserve" games -- which plays into that entry level coupon item. Get the word out and use this to pre-sell the effort. That way you can instantly see if the market it there to go further. Mike from Morgantown

For the cable replacement on the Intellicart, would it work if I just spliced in the new cable with the USB end into the old one? Meanwhile, as for the output, has anyone done an Intellicart loader that gets a USB port to imitate a serial port or would I just set the parameters in the Intellicart program after the USB has sought a plug-and-play solution?
-
I have an Intellicart. I also will soon have no lap top with a working serial connection as everything has gone to USB. Does anyone know of a Serial to USB Connector that works with an Intellicart? Fortunately, I own a CC3, but I love being able to load single ROMs to beta test new carts on real hardware (without having to tear apart the CC3). Mike from Morgantown

Did your SMB come boxed or bagged ? BTW... Go Eeers !! I can't remember if it was boxed or bagged -- because I got boxes when they made them later. However, I sold off many of my INTV boxes (since my mother made me trash the orginal boxes when cleaning my room after college) -- since you can't play a box. I do remember the SMB that I traded away had a box. (If I recall correclty, I got it at a closeout store after ordering my copy from INTV Inc.).

Tutorvision was found/owned by Ted Brunner of Skokie, IL. So if it is that, either Ted sold or another was found.

I bought mine from INTV Inc. back in the day. What is worse is that I had two copies of Super Mud Buggies and traded one in 1996 for what I thought was a neat Videopac game but turned out to be nothing more than the European version of Dam Busters. At least it went to someone who was big on the Intellivision scene at the time. Mike from Morgantown
