Is there some weird war between AA forums and Atari I/O forums?
mdoerty replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Ok. So there is a Junior Pacman but there it was found in Lancaster, PA. Instead it is a project by Rev et al.? Is this correct? See what happens when I do work at work. Actually, if this is true, it made little sense that someone found a board in PA. But then again, you never know where something will be found. -

GOSUB for Intellivision - official thread - COMING OCTOBER 2016
mdoerty replied to timdu's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
I will take one. As long as I get one, I don't care what number it is. Thanks Mike -
Which came first -- the 30 copies or the AT Games contract? It was my understanding that Mike made 30 games for the show because that is the level of demand for Atari 2600 games. He then could not make more because of a timed exclusivity agreement with AT Games -- for an Intellivision Flashback 2 that doubtful will ever see the light of day. The good news is that it was only a three-year option, so that Blix can be sold again in cartridge form in 2017. If it is ever released widely, the CGE copies will be like the PhillyClassic versions of 4-Tris -- special editions of a game. (Most likely, Blix will be released as part of a game collection and hopefully in larger numbers to accommodate the demand)

That is exactly how I do it as well. -
OFFICIAL - D2K Arcade Special Edition Release Information
mdoerty replied to SoulBuster's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
This should be interesting and will say a lot about the Intellivision homebrew market. I do not plan to buy because the marginal utility for me is not worth the cost, since I have Carl's three previous releases based upon the Donkey Kong franchise. This also allows me to cease being a completionist and occasionally pass on something I feel does not have value for me. However, for someone who does not have the previous game, the two games in one probably represents a value. Also the price means that there is a much lower chance of someone buying the game for speculative profit. In other words, no quick dumps to eBay. Personally I feel the game is a bit over priced. But I understand market forces and recognize the good work that Soul Buster has done with respect to homebrews. I am also glad to hear Carl was well compensated for his efforts. I am looking forward to other games as they come out this year as well so this does not mean I won't be buying new releases in the future. But I will start to ask myself "Is it worth it?" And my positive response probably will drop from 102% of the time to 98% of the time. -
In reading this, two things come to mind. 1. Devices to allow people to play import Saturn games were openly sold (by major retail chains) during that console's life. 2. PayPal is good for the buyer but the seller never knows when a complaint can lead to a chargeback without warning. And by the terms of service, their options are often limited to an arbitration under the company's rules and oversight.

How a Private Video Game Collection Turned Into a Museum
mdoerty replied to Rev's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
They are good guys. Sean Kelly used to sell a Vectrex multicart (it was legal since the original company released all games to Public Domain when it folded in the mid 1980s). I bought one in the mid1990s. I used to subscribe to the paper copy of the Digital Press newsletter. I remember debating with Joe Santulli at PhillyClassic in 2001 about show only home brew releases. And I won an Intellivision in a Usenet auction from John Hardy (who I knew from the original NAVA meetings). I didn't need the console burnout included a boxed complete Super Cobra. -
OFFICIAL - D2K Arcade Special Edition Release Information

I hope this goes well. It gives people a chance to get a copy of the game. But as I already have four other Donkey Kong games (Coleco, Intelligentvision, DK1 and DK2), I can't bring myself to spending that much money on what would be, for me, limited new content. I do not arrive at this position without much thought -- as I have an extensive collection (as my original boxes got thrown out while in college, I could get a Silver designation for my collection if I ever sought it -- and the only homebrew I am lacking is Blix). Ironically, had the pre-sale been open rather than invited, I probably would have been much more likely to have bought this. I look forward to playing new titles in the coming months. -

Super MineField a new Intellivision game ?
mdoerty replied to scalpel's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Je voudrais le jeu <<Super Minefield>> pour le Intellivision s'il vous plait, quand il est disponible. Ok.. My <<francais au lycee>> is three decades old. Still, it should be apparent that I want this game when it is ready. I would love to know where the box and screen shot art came from since I cannot find them at Collectorvision. -
Doesn't the Intellivision have some 16-way games? I keep thinking Tron Deadly Discs.

I just discovered this game existed (too much work in 2015). And Good Deal Games is out of copies. Any other options to get a copy?

New Intellivision Game for Portland Retro Gaming Expo

As I posted in the pet in thread, I am interested in procuring a post Portland of this game too. It sounds like fun and has generated good vibes. -
I would be interested in a copy as well. I have already placed my name on the 2017 list for Blix.

Discovered a brochure in my father's stuff
mdoerty replied to BillyBaloney976's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Love the scans. As a compulsive collector who was of adult age when this was supposed to have come out, I can tell you that I never remember seeing this detailed of information anywhere. I helped scan items for the library -- see the magazine scans with the 23602 zip code for example (my family household while I was in college and afterwards) -- so I have some credibility in this area. I also want to thank the owner for posting scans and making them available for all to see for free. Not everyone does that with rare finds. -

Cmart's INTV Triton catalog collection
mdoerty replied to cmart604's topic in Intellivision / Aquarius
Have all the Triton/INTV catalogs that Cart showed (worked with David on the original library, though I can't remember how many were his and how many were mine -- except he gave me a copy of the second catalog in Cart's pix since I didn't have that one). I do not have the Trade & Play catalog (a Canadian variant, however). I remember ordering from them -- and leaving a catalog someplace (at a basketball game) and having to go back and find it.
