  1. Is BBCS or BBS Express available for download?

BBCS and I think Express BBS Pro is Here

    BBCS is also Here

i didnt see BBS Express (reg or Pro) at the first link...

    sloopy.

    Look for "BBS (19xx)(-)[h APE].zip"

  2. Trying to troubleshoot an 810. Any access to the drive causes the disk to spin up, and the head to move straight to the outer track where it stays, until the mechanism finally emits a grunt and the head moves in a little. It returns a NAK error to the computer.

So far I've merely cleaned the head and dusted the rails.

I'm also interested in ID-ing the upgrade shown below:

Might also be the head alignment. I've received two 810's that had the same problem, but after checking/aligning the heads, they worked fine. To check it, I put slight pressure on the head (pushing towards the inner track) while it's trying to boot. If if reads the first track, then I know it's an alignment problem...

  3. Remember this auction?

Looks like I wil have to file a complaint in the 'ebay resolution center' tomorrow for failure to ship the package to me. A week ago he says he was sick, and successfully shipped a package to stevem00 the day before he supposedly shiped my package. Seems completely disinterested in helping me, and the guy lives an hour away from me. Completely amazing...

Want me to pay him a visit? he's only 4 miles from me

  4. Cool - what is that program (Info/Soft 3000)?

Info/Soft 3000 was a text generator program used in some older cable tv starions for their information channel. It scrolled messages on the top and bottom of the screen, plus showed different text in the center. Its big brother, Info/Soft 5000 has some more features...

Any chance of a dump? I believe this is the program our local cable station used (in the 80s), and I have been trying for years to find out what it was.

I've uploaded a rom image In This Post, just needs a loader now...

  5. Thanks for your replies, everyone. Unfortunately, none of them did the trick. Any new ideas?

I'm a bit stumped here, because I used to upgrade my SIO2SD all the time. I'm no newbie to this.

Can you still boot ATR's from this?

Do the buttons still allow you to assign ATR's to different drives?

What does the display look like?

  6. Neither have I; I had a Star Micronics SG-10 back in the day:

This ended up being quite a good purchase as when I switched over to IBM compatible stuff, I kept the printer. (I had a parallel to SIO adapter)

One of these days I'll have to pick up some actual Atari brand printer just for the sake of a matching system.

I still have my original SG-10 that I got new in '86 and a spare that I got in '98 for $35 :)

Yep, in time I will :)

Yeah - I checked out the 5000 version, but it doesn't look the same as what I remember on our local cable station. I was hoping maybe the older 3000 version was it.

The 5000 operates the same way as the 3000, the 5000 has a bigger text buffer and allows character graphics, but otherwise they are the same...

  8. You'd be better off just making up a cable or getting someone to make it for you.

That way if it needs to be externally programmed again you can do it yourself.

Also, the default setup supposedly doesn't have the fusebit settings right and can inadvertantly stop working if you hotplug it into a powered up machine, and has to be reprogrammed externally in that case... and AFAIK to get the correct fusebit settings you also need to program it externally.

I agree, I had a similar problem 2 months back and made my own cable. Reflashing was very easy :)

    Look Here for more info...
